  1. Yep as soon as they conquer Kiev, they will be heading further west! Any day now... just a little further!
  2. Moscow is on fire after suspected drone attack - video (yahoo.com) A fire broke out at the Chagino power substation’s transformer building in southeastern Moscow early on Nov. 24, sending thick smoke into the area, the Russian Mash Telegram channel reported. The 200-square-meter fire in the 20-meter-high building is making the flame difficult to extinguish. An explosion at a power substation in the town of Lytkarino near Moscow was reported overnight on Nov. 23.
  3. Doubt it is psyop, there have been indications for quite a while the Russian aviation was in trouble. The one item that hadn't been mentioned before and am unsure of what is implied there is the comment about maintenance. Parts were always mentioned as an issue but this - implies that perhaps the support personnel may also have ben siphoned off by the war effort.
  4. Russian aviation ‘on verge of collapse’ due to sanctions, Ukraine announces after successful hack (yahoo.com)
  5. Would you please stop being rational, it gets in the way of my blinders.
  6. So you are saying these aren't the droids.....
  7. People also somehow seem to forget the Russian economy is smaller than Canada's with over 3x the population. The wealthy are always the last to feel the effects of economic decline. Russia may still be exporting energy, but the cost of doing so is higher, the profit is less and meanwhile everything else in the economy is suffering from the cost - even if they can evade sanctions, the cost to do so is still exorbitantly high.
  8. A Russian general who was critical of the army's operation was found dead (yahoo.com) Another member of the Russian military was found dead under unknown circumstances this week. Lieutenant General Vladimir Sviridov, 68, and his wife Tatyana, 72, were found dead Wednesday in their bedroom, per the Kyiv Post. They looked to have been dead for about a week prior to their discovery, according to the Post. Sviridov commanded the 6th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of Russia from 2005 to 2009, per the Kyiv Post.
  9. pretty much totally off tangent other than being a guided vehicle of sorts, but this is what NASA developed to deflate the tires on the space shuttle. The tires PSI was so high that it was the equivalent of 2.5 sticks of dynamite if it blew. This engineer took a Tamiya Tiger II motorized model, stuck a DeWalt drill on it and Voila! It actually served for a bit successfully deflating .. and surviving 9 tires.
  10. Well just don't do a CM game involving China or it may become way too relevant.
  11. And so after much debate, Pooh, Piglet, Owl and Eeyore ventured off to Mongolia, then north to Siberia to see what they could see. Hours later Piglet came racing back with the others in pursuit. Pooh:"Piglet what's wrong?!" Piglet:"are you out of your F'n mind? Are you blind? That place has more wildfires than the rest of the globe combined! They have f'n exploding methane holes and now they have these creepy viruses from 50,000 years ago! Who the hell wants that place?!" https://abcnews.go.com/International/siberian-wildfires-now-bigger-fires-world-combined/story?id=79422602 https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20201130-climate-change-the-mystery-of-siberias-explosive-craters https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/08/world/permafrost-virus-risk-climate-scn/index.html
  12. Just to throw one more potato on the pile, Russia trading whatever it is for N Korean ammo is probably not all that welcome in China either. Anything that potentially causes more instability in the Korean peninsula that China doesn't have the same sort of control over is probably a source of concern.
  13. let it go, just not worth it. Clearly he doesn't comprehend what climate change really means. You can't argue with someone that takes pride in their ignorance.... and it is just going waaaaaayyyyy off topic
  14. I'm not quite dead yet... I feeeel happy!!
  15. It is actually a double cut. Putin is taking the young male population leaving the female population with few options beyond marrying the likely wealthier Chinese population. Xi probably couldn't be happier.
  16. There was a US Defense dept report almost a decade ago talking about the risk in Siberia for Russia. Looks like Vlad is accelerating their projections. I once sent it to Steve, I'll see if I can find it again. It went into the difficulties of exploiting Siberian wealth and the potential of warming making it actually harder as well. Not the paper, but this is from the Brookings Institute in 2003 that makes similar arguments. The Siberian Curse: Does Russia's Geography Doom its Chances for Market Reform? | Brookings
  17. Ukraine to Putin: You cut our power, we kneecap your biggest economic driver (yahoo.com) Ukraine is open to the possibility of attacking Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure if Moscow ramps up its targeting of Ukraine’s electric system this winter, Ukraine Energy Minister German Galushchenko said in an interview. Galushchenko, speaking with POLITICO in Washington, D.C., after meeting with Biden administration officials and lawmakers, said Russia has regularly perpetrated cyberattacks against Ukraine’s electric grid and is expected to ramp up physical attacks as temperatures fall and people depend more on energy to heat their homes.
  18. We'll likely be able to tell from the pyres.
  19. Don't worry, he likely won't respond. His Dallas Cowboys left Phila on the loser bus because despite the NFL painting huge white lines to denote the end zone and field boundaries, the Cowboys couldn't seem to figure out what they meant in game terms.
  20. I'm sorry but as a lowly apprentice of the cesspool, I am allowed only a few interactions with Ye Olde Ones Refreshing their drinks Lighting their cigars providing an ash tray if desired or sweeping the floor if it isn't Wiping their arses. They are such glorious arses.. err I mean they HAVE such glorious arses. ahem. However I can direct you to my Leige, the rootinest tootinest shootinest Leige one can have in the Cesspool! The one, the only @Joe Shaw
  21. Get off my tank, hippie. Saw a post on reddit. Some guy was trying to use his Apple watch at checkout and it wasn't going through. Old guy in line behind him says "c'mon "future boy", get it moving."
  22. For folks freakin out about the expenditure from the west, it might be good to have perspective, In Afghanistan the US alone spent some 2 TRILLION dollars. The gov't sitting in Kabul right now is the umm err Taliban. As of July we had spent about 76 billion in Ukraine..... For the return on investment, it is hard to say the West hasn't got a financial windfall in kneecapping the Russian military.
