  1. Excellent maps, much appreciated Andreas and JasonC!
  2. I have the distinct impression that my point is being lost so here is a final attempt. There is a modern context to the original word "japie" with derivitives being "yarpie" (which lexigraphicaly could even be a new word) and you will find most antipodeans do not use this as derogatory and ironically most young South Africans will not even know what the word means Then there is a historical contetx (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/yarpie) dating back as far as to the Anglo-Boer war and WWII when the term "Japie" WAS definately derogotary. The word "plaas japie" was even used as a derogary word BETWEEN South Africans. I hope this makes it clear to you Stalin's Organist? Now as to my original point, I leave it up to you to read the post by JonS and make up your own mind as to how he intended to use the word given the historical context explained above. McIvan - Nope, sorry to dissapoint, my original post was not mildy histerical and in search of a target. The post was directly targeted to a specific person in reaction to IMHO a mediocre, ill-informed and off topic post that had a malicious whiff to it. I merely called him out and tried to get his answer (and not all the other well intentioned but misguided replies) I will contain my histeria and take your parting remarks and partisanship my stride my friend
  3. Stalin's Organist You are absolutely correct in the japie v jarpie distinction but unfortunately not in the derogatory nature of the term. It was, is and will always be derogatory. Just like the "N" word it could be used in different contexts but as used by JonS there is no doubt in my or my very old "Yarpie" friend's mind that the way it was used was insensitive and blatant. JonS is no friendly Kiwi slaping his Japie friend on the back after surving a DAK assault. Furthermore JonS is wrong on the units involved being purely Afrikaans units. They were English speaking SA units. Those men, dead and surving, deserved better than being ridiculled by ignorant remarks even if the intention was not malicious. But maybe that is exactly how JonS intended it?
  4. JonS Why do you insist on using the term "The Yarpies" in your post of Apr 22? Either you are plain ignorant or just an instigator. I will place my money on ignorant.
  5. Hi, A stunning idea! I would be a most gratefull apprentice if any of you fine gents would have me. I have been introduced to CM recently (2 months ago) and would love to get involved in the multiplayer flavor. I have played one PBEM and a few MP's via the opponent finder chat system but it is a hit and miss affair If I pass the school of Askovdk I would gladly repay the favour to a new graduate also. A fine idea indeed and I hope it takes hold!
