rocketman got a reaction from PIATpunk in CMFI Rome to Victory Bones
And even a Swedish accent of a British accent (some actors are Swedes as is the director). Terrific series. I am glad they did not try a phony russian accent.

Thanks! Looks like an interesting read.

Pure. Genius. Frikking awesome. If only you could make some pixeltruppen slide across the hood of an Abrams (like in the Sabotage video)
BFC should license the music and make this a promo trailer.

rocketman got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in Master Map?
Have you tried mapmaking in the editor? If not, it is a lot of fun. Seeing an area coming to life in 3d is quite a trip. Like virtual model making.
Using a map overlay it doesn't have to take too long and if there is an area you know you want maybe it is worth the time and effort.

rocketman got a reaction from zinzan in bug in CMFI when requesting the open command
It is an indication that you probably installed updates, patches etc in the wrong order or didn't remove certain mods when updating. AFAIK there is no other fix than a complete reinstall. Sorry.

rocketman got a reaction from RockinHarry in Bunkers
Haven't played against bunkers after new patch. Crews inside bunkers never cower, even though their suppression meter is at max. I have had such crews fire back quite accurately. Not sure though if they return fire less frequently if suppressed. Not cowering is a drawback of the current way bunkers are modelled.

I don't have the opportunity to test this now, but I just want to give a thumbs up for you starting your scenario making career. Enjoy!
Is it a real place/battle? Maybe next time consider using an overlay in the editor. Map making with one is a joy.

What kind of grenade? No, it is a VHS copy of "Der Untergang"!

Okay, I confirmed that it can be fixed. Here are the files for the StuG and StuH models from Red Thunder, just drop 'em in your Data Z folder.

I look forward to that too. And a coming module for FB should probably include Canadians in Operation Veritable and Blockbuster. The Canadians deserve a lot of credit for the contribution in WWII. The country which had the highest percentage of their population involved in the war effort.

rocketman got a reaction from Artkin in Faster elevation calculations in the editor under new patch?
I tinkered a bit in the editor and was struck by how the elevation calculations now are done "on the fly" and pretty quickly too. Like when you drag a line of elevation points and you see the calculations while working. In the other games (not patched yet) you don't get any calculations until you release the mouse button and then it usually takes a few seconds to calculate. It is quite time consuming on large maps with lots of elevation changes. So if this makes it way into the other games I will be a happy man.

I'm working on a scenario about the Juno landings at Courseulles-sur-Mer. It will have a historic version as well as a couple of "what-if" variants. Most of the map is done and units in place, but I've hit a couple of snags and has the project on hold until the patch is released.

rocketman reacted to John Kettler in Project 44 Maps First Canadian Army in Normandy
This is an unprecedented effort by the CRMA (Canadian Research Mapping Agency), a volunteer outfit started by veterans to fully map the entire movements of the Canadian Army in Normandy, starting with the invasion maps and going forward. But it's much more than maps, because it includes/will include all the War Diaries covering where Canadian units were, enemy sightings, combat, etc, as well as piles of pre-war, wartime, and post war photos. All the other forces friendly and not are also covered as to their locations if they were in the AO. The amount of material compiled is monumental and will be fully searchable, too. Project 45 after that will follow the First Canadian Army to the end of the war.

Leave that job to the US Space Force.

rocketman got a reaction from A Canadian Cat in Should Italian squads be able to split off a two man scout team?
IIRC Steve said it was motivated by actual tactical doctrine for the Italian Army and to reflect deficiencies in the leadership/HQ structure. But I'm happy to be proven wrong. They don't want to implement stuff that would be nice to have if it had no place in the real setting.
