It might. I pointed (no pun intended:rolleyes:) it out to the guy who made the scenario (sorry, I forget how you are...) and he said it might be expected as the climbing of the cliffs uses a "flaw" in the programming.
Must admit up front that I haven't read the entire thread, but the title seemed appropriate for what I'm trying to "get off my chest".
Current scenario: I have one panzer asset. The ground condition is dry. I plot my first move: slow along a dirt road. I barely stray after 30 sec, so the minimum of track/treads goes over the border of the road into plain dirt and I immediately get immobilized. That just seems wrong or I'm the unluckiest german in Normandy. I dearly hope that lost asset won't be the back-breaker, since I'm starting to spot enemy tanks. Life/war is a b*tch
Does CMBN take into account that it is much harder to spot things when you have the sun in your face (squint your eyes etc.), especially a low hanging sun?
What I forgot to state was that my additional test was going back in the same scenario using an old save and do the barrage again. Som my test is only for 105 mm in La Valance.
Nice tests stoex.
I made another test and can safely say that each and every smoke shell that hits a roof will bounce. Maybe the cause of this "bug" is that smoke shells doesn't explode on impact, but rather emit smoke after landing, and since shells can't stick to roofs, they "must" bounce like a ricochet.
I made another video showing that shells (two) that land on the map after a bounce then will emit smoke. Sorry for poor video quality
On a side note:
I know next to nothing about ballistics. But to me the small weapons ricochettes sometimes fly all over the place. Did they do that IRL? Or is this another case of the "bouncies" - maybe surfaces of houses are somewhat mismodeled?
I dare anyone try to set this up in the editor and try. If they succeed they should be treated to a free Commonwealth module by BFC. Apart from eternal internet (or at least CMBN-nuts) fame.
It sure does. Thing is, in a barrage of about 30 shells, all (three) that hit buildings did the "bouncy-thing". Maybe the roofs in the village La Valance is made of some special stuff.
I just saw, within a couple of minutes, two smoke shells, from a 105 mm howitzer, literally bounce off the roof of a house. Bounce high aswell
Didn't know shells of that caliber had that "in them", or is this a bug?
Reason I asked is that I have three missions at the same time, with spotting rounds falling in very different places at the same time. No noticable delay of FFE or accuracy. Maybe better if it was a FO unit, but a lowly platoon HQ.
