    <Gripen has entered the chat>
So at the moment we have confirmed training of UA pilots on F-16s and Gripens, official talks with Australia about F-18s and whatever training France and the UK are providing. It seems that Ukrainian Air Force inventory is going to be as diversified as their tank fleet...

This is good news, however, there are no statements in the document that would indicate that Sweden is any closer to giving Gripen to Ukraine than before.

There is a tragedy of people still trapped in flooded area unfolding- locals on Russian side are trying to save themselves, but they lack coordination and boats.

Meanwhile, an example of Russian patriots who now discovered that they can hurt UA even more by blowing major dams across the country.

Transl. "Why is the situation with the Kachovskaya dam exploding beautiful? Let me explain. In this war, we will always have one main ace to use against the Chocholas. And it's not even a nuclear weapon. It's the dam of the Kiev reservoir. A small, thin bridge that holds millions of tons of water, will immediately flow into Kiev and flush these Augean Stables down the drain. The dam is old, rotten and rusty. It will not withstand many shells. Hundreds of thousands of Kiev citizens, especially those living on the left bank, will most likely die instantly. Kiev will never recover from this catastrophe. "I'm sure it's a time bomb whose clock has already started ticking. We thank the USSR for this ace up our sleeve."

The thought (regarldess of its sheer practicallity) is now being picked up and becoming popular in many of muscovite forums/channels.

@Haiduk , can you please elaborate a bit about the Kiev dam mentioned above. Is there any way for the ruzzians to destroy it with outside force? Is it even ”fragile”?

The list of Ukrainian equipment losses is still up, with links to the Russian losses that go to the 404 page.

I haven't been checking the losses for a while - when did he split off the RU and UK losses onto separate pages?  The Russian list maybe got too long and his CMS doesn't support that much on a single page or something, so he's got to do some editing/splitting.

The Russian Oryx page is back online for me now.

The 1.04 patch REQUIRES a license key to activate it and use it. eLicense was the copy-protection system for Battlefront at the time that the patch was released. A third party (who eventually would work for Battlefront as the '2nd Programmer') was responsible for creating the 1.04 patch (which is primarily just some updated DirectX calls to fix some graphics problems at the time of Windows Vista release - and have proven useful for other graphic problems seen later with some video drivers) and I believe the fee was to reimburse him and pay for the licensing of the copy-protection system at that time. Once the 1.04 patch is installed your version of CMBB or CMAK no longer needs the CD in the optical drive in order to run (the original copy-protection system for Battlefront).

When you install the 1.04 patch it will replace the 1.03 executable (unless  you move and or rename the 1.03 executable before patching). The 1.04 executable will not run until it has been activated with a license key, which is what you're seeing. All of the fixes for 1.04 are ONLY in the executable. There are no other art files, etc. in the 1.04 patch. Until Steve puts the 1.04 patches back into the Store you'll be unable to play with the 1.04 patch.

Found my old CMBB CD-ROM I thought I would take a trip down memory lane and installed it. Regarding the 1.04 patch - is that the same one that was needed to play the game on Vista win-system?

@BFCElvis I noticed something strange, during the battle my USSR AA HQ (which had an Igla which is why I remembered) has disappeared. No casualty to be seen, plus there was no artillery / air / scouts in play yet when they did disappear. I ordered them (HQ + 2x Igla troopers) to dismount the BMP and later I couldn't find the HQ.
On the US side there was an FDC vehicle, arriving dismounted. That has also disappeared, fwiw the FDC crew had perished by the time I noticed the vehicle disappeared.

Fortunately these have zero to none impact on the game played, but still strange so thought to mention it here.

    Accidentally moved to exit zones?

how you guys feel about round 3?

Not the greatest scenario to be honest. I hate having reinforcements suddenly appear in line of fire. The US side is at a serious disadvantage and can more or less just hope for the best. TRPs for Soviets should have been excluded to make it a bit harder to bring down the hammer on the US troops. The only good thing is that my oppo is suffering more than me ;)

It is based on a stock scenario that IIRC is not recommended for H2H play, so..... 😬

Is there any point in exiting units rather than not having them killed? Any difference in score since the scenario is not to be finished?

I was wondering why there is no return file for more than one week. And today I loaded CMCW again.

Crap! My opponent has returned his turn a while ago, but I didn't get the email notification. 😐

Sometimes throughout my battles I didn't receive notifications either. Checked spam folder every day too. Looks like a bug in the PBEM++ system.

  8. During the last few turns the Hinds attacked two targets, one successful hit on a Bradley and a suspected hit on an Abrams moving just out of view. Got several attacks from my US CAS (had them in the air most of the battle and Soviet Shilka fired only once and two Igla launches) that hit several targets and missed some. And unfortunately some Blue on Blue infantry losses :(

@The_Capt and I had an email exchange this morning and he was cool with me putting this out there. He designed the first round's scenario. We didn't mention it at the time but there was an Easter Egg in that scenario. We wanted to see if anyone noticed. No one did. Which surprised us a little because you guys never miss a thing. Welp, here it is:

Remember....This battle is for H2H ONLY. There are no AI plans for either side.

Is the easter egg the faint spelling of "PETE" using crop 4 among crop 2 tiles (best seen in the editor) at the northern end of the map?

Ive nearly wiped out the US forces with the Soviets. Only one M1 and one Bradley survived, everything else destroyed. Though it helped that my opponent didn’t move much allowing me to position and attack spots with high numbers. But I did take heavy losses too. So it’s possible just not easy.

Will toss up some pics soon…

Did you get help from your Hinds? I have had them buzzing around for most of the battle and not yet once have they fired, nor been fired upon (though I don't know if the oppo Anti-Air gun is alive or not).

Although I agree that it is more fun to play against a somewhat matched player I think it's a bit unfair to punish people who try and get in the game ;-).

I guess so. My impression is that Matrix/Slitherine use tournaments for their games as a marketing tool as well as catering to existing players enjoyment. I just fear that if tournaments are not done well and you run the risk of getting to play a "no show", people will tire. I know I will. Imagine having a chance to win the tournament and get one of those for your final battles - no chance to win. That would suck big time. Maybe have some kind of "withdraw" function so players who know they can't finish games will be removed before next round.

Does anyone ( @BFCElvis ) know, if your opponent stops returning turns 1/2 way through, will they be disqualified for the next round?

My suggestion is that after the first round in a tournament, the bottom 10-20% of players are cut. Likely those who didn't start or finish their games or those who got beaten badly and probably will have a hard time winning (harsh, I know). Having players, for one reason or another who don't do their part, remain for round two will just make another player angry. In my first round my oppo just played a handful of rounds. Annoying. Never was told why.

I'm impressed you have Soviet stuff still moving able to exit - mine's is having errr....mechanical issues... ;)

The emphasis is on ”the opportunity”…

I’m still dreaming that my master plan will work out somehow, but realistically, no it won’t.

Would be fun though to make a beeline for the exit zone, guns blazing, taking out as much as possible in the process.

As we’re not playing till the end the ‘normal’ exit points conditions won’t count. So basically each side does their best to give the other a good kicking! The US will only get points for killing Soviet stuff. The Soviets will not be penalised for not exiting.

Ohhhh...I thought that was last round only. My Soviet plan is now a death trap :(

Is the word out to all involved that we shouldn't play the last turn? Or exit units?
