  1. Combat Mission II doesn't allow weapons modding, does it? (I've been away for a while)
  2. Are there *any* "two-level" games out there in which tactical combat is set in a broader context?
  3. Looking at the process from the outside it seems that people are still getting to grips with building mods. Do you see a future situation though where only the smartest architecture and town planning will be deemed fit for destruction in combat?!
  4. Is it possible in the actual game (rather than the demo) to take a screenshot of the entire map from directly overhead (satellite's-eye-view)? I miss those "maps" that used to be possible in Combat Mission.
  5. Is there not a new version of Close Combat coming out soon?
  6. Does anyone know what an MG 45 (or MG 42 V) looked like?
  7. Would there be a hexagonal map somewhere that I could download? Obviously Combat Mission maps are not hexagonal, but a hexagon could be drawn on one and the outer fringe used to control deployment. I have Mapping Mission as well as all three games.
  8. Keep: 1. The scale of the game i.e. from individual men and vehicles up to battalions and beyond. Let the upper limit be set by our hardware and not by your coding. 2. A bias towards realism, without it becoming a straight jacket. 3. The width of the game, covering entire theatres. You have already said that this is to go, so I guess this request translates as “Be as benevolent to your future module-makers as you were to the mod-makers of the first series.” Please do not hamstring their enthusiasm, for they will be the life blood of the new game. ... and they’ll give us width! 4. WEGO 5. The ability to rename units. Add: 1. Mod your own squads/ build your own units. If this upsets PBEM play, then make it available only when playing solo. 2. Compatibility with third-party campaign managers. If unencrypted files are a threat to PBEM play, then make them optional. 3. Vastly improved maps and mapping. 4. LOS/ LOF blocked by vehicles. 5. Full movie playback. Beyond 5 won’t count in the poll; but they may still be stated: 6. An in-game index of units, so that I may find my lost sheep. 7. More boats 8. 1:1 representation. Nobody seems to be mentioning this. Presumably people feel it’s “in the bag” so why waste wishes on it? I just want you to know that I think this change is great. This would have been my number one wish if it wasn’t already, well, "in the bag"! Thanks ... and Cheers!
  9. Has a decision been made about spotting yet? There was some talk earlier in the year of being able to spot an entire squad if one individual was visible.

  11. Aren't they illustrating the flexibility of the game in being able to cope with a range of unit sizes?
  12. It's an excellent thought. I'm hoping for build-your-own-unit flexibility in CMX 2. Unfortunately they're not going to let us footer about at the level of individual soldier's equipment. They've also ruled out vast, theatre-wide ranges of equipment, at least initially. There remains the hope that we'll be able to define our own sections and squads from pre-specified building blocks, putting these together into platoons and companies with an easy-to-use interface.

  14. This screenshot shows different forest densities on different tiles. From what you say, different appearances don't translate into differences in game play?
  15. Do these vary in their height (mountains) and density (forests); or are they generic?
  16. ... but isn't an Oberstgeneral senior to a mere General?
  17. "Yes" has to be the answer here. ... and if Montgomery had been sent to Malaya, do you think he'd have held it?
