  1. Just loaded up the 1.10 demo for fun and I notice that whilst playing 'Road to Berlin' that my 60mm mortars now use 'craterless' ammo. Does anyone know if this is a bug or is there a 'crater' hotkey?
  2. I have heard that the 1.10 patch for the base game will not fix any of the new bugs. It is only there to be compatible with the CW module.
  3. Yeah - I guess I started badly with the original post: 1) Don't read 10 year old manuals of much loved games with rose tinted specs. 2) Try and avoid making questions sound like criticisms. I mean, I can clearly see that CMBN is far in advance of CMBO on many levels. I guess I was just referring to those little details like 'Shot Shatter' etc..
  4. Ouch! We are really very nice once you get to know us - but we might demand a tea break or two mid-battle.
  5. Okay - I must have missed Steve's posts. I'll search them out. I have been playing CMBN for a while (probably too much)... and I love it. Sadly I can only compare CMBN to my memory of CMx1 (I have a Mac), so it might be a case of rose tinted specs. But whilst going through the old CMBO manual I kept saying to myself - "oh yeah - that was cool." I do think that CMBN is far superior to CMBO but there are a lot of small details where the player isn't provided with info or feedback... and you end up asking yourself -"are they actually modelling that or not?" You say they probably are... so that answers my question.
  6. Yup - remove the K. Here's a portion of my file (notice nothing in Bail Out - if I need to Bail Out I use the UI menu): <E>/ // deploy <E>P // pause <E>H // hide <E>[ // dismount <E> // bail out <E>] // vehicle open up
  7. I was reading through my old CMBO manual the other day and a few things amused me: at the time BFC were highly critical of real-time play for battalion level tactical wargaming. They also stated that squad level smoke wasn't included because there was no good historical evidence that it was used other than for signalling. Funny how times change. But, the one thing that was clear from the CMBO manual was how much detail BFC had put into the realism behind the game engine. The manual proudly reveals (or refers to) many of the wonders 'under the hood'. Now - is this kind of realism REALLY in CMBN? Or are BFC being intentional vague about the mechanics behind CMBN because they don't quite exist as we might imagine? BTW - This is a question and not a criticism.
  8. Yup - i've done that. That's why I've removed the hot-key for bail out completely.
  9. Don't think so - that will be 1.11 in a few months.
  10. I remember seeing Hit Text in CMx1 occasionally refer to 'Shot Shatter' when an AP round breaks up on impact with armour. Does that happen in CMBN?
  11. I've never quite got a satisfactory answer to your question. In Cmx1 it was certainly true that the killed to wounded ratio was more like 2-3 wounded for each man killed. I have heard that CMBN simulates those 'exciting' engagements where there is a greater chance of fatalities. Buddy Aid is also a factor and the way players push their units beyond a realistic norm. But, I'd be interested in a definitive answer too.
  12. There shouldn't be any charges because it's mailed from EU.
  13. Oh well - looks like I am outvoted, and will defer to the majority opinion. Thanks for trying JuJu. Although I must say that I think the new version is much more logical and much closer to the Cmx1 scheme. Perhaps you could leave the new colours in a subfolder as an optional extra??
  14. Battalion size battles are big! If you are just starting out playing PBEM with your friend I'd suggest that maybe you should stick to Company sized battles so that you can better concentrate on the smaller details of each move.
  15. Well - I remember looking at the BFC website in 2007 and seeing Shock Force - at which point I immediately sent an email asking whether BFC would make this game for the Mac. I received no answer (I think I sent it to the wrong dept anyway). Nice to see that my email has finally been answered! So - what do I do for 8 weeks while I wait for CMSF? I hear that BFC have a WWII game out... something to do with Normandy isn't it? Oh, hang on... maybe that's what's been running constantly on my iMac since June. Great News - Well done guys for continuing to support the Mac platform.
  16. I've read on the forum somewhere that it will be about 7-14 days.
  17. JuJu - may I just make a quick suggestion that perhaps the colour palette could be more like: i.e have a more washed out green rather than a dark green as the second colour down.
  18. Great News. Can't wait to see what I've been missing. Really pleased BFC are solidly behind Mac gaming again - well done guys.
  19. Whenever I snap off a scout team from a US squad they never have binoculars with them. Was it standard practice in WWII to send scouts forward without binoculars?
  20. JuJu - fantastic job! Of the high quality we have come to know and love about all your mods. Why BFC haven't snapped you up and put you on the payroll I really don't know. ....I'm still not sure about that colour sequence though :-) [LIGHT GREEN - DARK GREEN - YELLOW - ORANGE - RED] - can't quite get my head around it, but thanks to you I have a little fix don't I?!
