  1. Are you both using the same version of the DEMO? Also check out H2HH helper in repository. It's a great way to automate the file transfer for PBEM.
  2. As far as I recall, there are no icons for destroyed vehicles.
  3. Another Hot Tip for WeGo: Got a risky move to make? And concerned that awful things might happen to that unit during the playback when you have no control over the outcome for a whole minute? Then it might be helpful to give the unit a 30 PAUSE before giving it other orders. This way you will get a better chance intervening at a critical moment during the following turn.
  4. CMBN 1.10 on a Mac the data folder contains: alternative hotkeys.txt hotkeys.txt intro.wmv Normandy v100A.brz Normandy v100B.brz Normandy v100E.brz Normandy v101.brz Normandy v110.brz Normandy v110 Commonwealth.brz Hope it helps.
  5. Very good point. Also - panicked troops should be able to exit the friendly map edges and count towards MIA.
  6. Guys - really helpful information - thank you all. BTW: I suspect there is a little bit of OCD in 99% of CMBN players. oops - just saw a magpie: "Hello Mr. Magpie, how's your lady wife." "Hello Mr. Magpie, how's your lady wife." "Hello Mr. Magpie, how's your lady wife." ah - okay - said it three times. :-)
  7. Can anyone tell me if the 'Friendly Condition' percentage parameter (those units not panicked, wounded, tired etc.) is calculated as a percentage of the troops remaining at the end of the battle or whether it is a percentage of the total number of units at the start of the battle? It seems to me that I often achieve this 'Friendly Condition' when all other objectives have been failed. The reason could be... If it is a percentage of the total number of troops then (because the parameter doesn't include casualties) the more casualties you suffer the more likely you are to achieve this objective! Can anyone verify this?
  8. No - essentially my Mac got hit by lightning.
  9. A bright flash of light, followed almost instantaneously by a deafening cracking sound! There was a big storm overhead. I then heard a crackle coming from the direction of my iMac, and I turned to see blue arcs of electricity crawl over the display! Oh no - it's all over I thought - burnt out chips, scrambled hard drive - there goes everything. Well - I guess I got lucky. Apart from the OS needing to repair itself, all seems okay. Phew.
  10. Almost, but not entirely accurate. Clicking the status icon will take you to the HQ immediately above it in the C2 chain. If this HQ is wiped out then clicking the 'in command' icon will not take you to the new HQ - instead it will still take you to the dead HQ, despite a higher HQ now being in charge.
  11. I'm just about to get my hands on my old OS9 native G4 (muhahaha - evil laugh)! Time to take a trip down CM memory lane.
  12. Do the Axis forces have a tank destroyer that has a rotatable turret?
  13. 30 seconds turns could end up making PBEM games laborious: 240 file exchanges for 60 mins!
  14. It's been a few weeks now since the pre-order date for the Mac version of CMSF has come and gone. Are there any new estimates for pre-order/release dates? Or are BFC planning on skipping the pre-order phase and going straight to a general release? Not trying to rush anyone - Just Curious.
  15. I'm sure the update to 1.10 will go smoothly for you. The graphical issues I'm experiencing are very rare indeed, and as Phil says, they will be fixed by the next patch. (and if you do have the same problem it might not even bother you, or perhaps even notice).
  16. Really? You have to ask? The quality of the units in version 1.10 is severely reduced compared to 1.0.1. See below:
  17. I think that this thread has somehow mutated into an appreciation of the 'Cats and Dogs' scenario.
  18. I am running an iMac with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro card and I am having enough problems for me to have to go back to version 1.0.1. I do think that I am in the minority though - most Mac players only experience minor issues, such as: flickering floating icons, darkened shadows, the occasional crash. Here you can compare what I see see: Version 1.0.1 but here is the 1.10 CW version: But as I say, I think that it is only myself and a few others experiencing this issue.
  19. ...and no, I'm not talking about tomorrow's 4:15 from Aintree! So... NUMBER 1. Have you just lost your HQ tank? Did the crew manage to get out okay? Well, once they recover enough to let you give them orders try and get them out of harm's way and quickly order them into a halftrack (or other radio-equipped vehicle). They will soon be back in contact with the rest of their platoon/squadron, and the remaining tanks will be far less brittle.
  20. This is why I would like to see a fix to Mac 1.10 version:
  21. That's what I thought - but I have seen units recover from 'Rattled' on a couple of occasions. Possibly if reinforcements from the same formation show up.
  22. It also seems that it is possible for units to recover from the 'Rattled' state. Seem to me that it goes: READY - OK - CAUTIOUS - NERVOUS - SHAKEN - PANIC Heavy incoming fire (being pinned) and high casualty rates can also possibly lead to: RATTLED or BROKEN Contrary to the manual there is, as you will have noticed, no ROUT.
  23. Why so? I didn't think teams suffered any additional morale penalties.
  24. I remember that Phil said that the patch might be released 2-3 months after the CW module. He was going by the timing of the 1.0.1 patch. I certainly would love to see the 1.11 patch as I am still stuck playing 1.0.1 due to graphical issues. I'm so looking forward to playing the CW module rather than just looking at the CD on the shelf.
  25. Thanks to everyone. I have a much clearer idea of purchasing now.... and Ian, a surprising and very helpful addition to the thread. I suspected that the 'combined arms' route was the way to go, but I just wasn't too sure considering the size of the battle. I also like getting a good balance of forces, but at the same time I don't want to end up purchasing in a ridiculously un-historical manner. So, I enter the battle with a little more confidence that the initial purchasing won't necessarily result in my inevitable defeat.
