  1. I am appalled and at the same time transfixed by the brutal and visceral scene of bloody battle before my eyes...

It's the end of the excellent CMFI training campaign 'Last Defence' and I feel slightly sick by the devastation I've unleashed upon my AI opponent. What have BFC done? Do they realise that they have taken the genre of cold and detached strategy games and injected it with an intensity and brutality that brings the player closer to the horror of the WWII battlefield than ever before? I'm not sure that these strange new emotions sit all that comfortably with me?

    I'm sure CMx1 wasn't like this!

CMFI is wonderful and genuinely disturbing.

  2. [can't find the original discussion thread]

So, here is proof - panzer III's are able to take a hit in the 'skirts' (sounds painful - I know).

I remember someone mentioning that Panzer IIIs didn't have skirts during the Sicily campaign, so I'm not too sure if this is just an oversight or not.

  3. Yup - I'm a big fan of the smaller scenario. I think they tend to show CM off at its tactical best - the player is able to really concentrate on the wonderful detail built into the game rather than simply being content with the large 'brush strokes' necessary to complete large battles.

It's so much more rewarding when you get a up close and dirty - checking ammo counts, looking into unit combat modifiers to make sure you have the right team for the job etc.

It's the small things that set CM above the rest.
