  1. If it helps any I downloaded it the day it came out.
  2. Some time ago I uninstalled CM:SF because I was selling my old computer. I unregistered it, as well. Okay, problem is, I lost that number to re-register it. Is there any way to get it back or am I SOL? If it helps the account was connected to my email address.
  3. I know for a fact that Syrian SF tool up American troops hardcore at night. Its just them being in that jeep that makes them blind.
  4. Jesus shrink some of those pictures, you've broken the page.
  5. An idea for you guys at BF, something I would be enthusiastic about. Micropay addons ad episodic content. Basically, just really cheap ($5-$15) addons, which add (for example) the TO&E for additional powers (austrailia, Germany, whatever,) new maps/campaigns, and so forth. I know I'd love that kind of stuff. Dunno about others.
  6. Holy wow, I cannot stop laughing. Lock it and sticky it, for the amusement of future generations.
  7. Hit whoever you are hitting hard and fast, then bug out, if you're going to lose once IR comes into play you shouldn't attack.
  8. Guys, I think we just found out why our sniper units can't hit anything. "You're a designated marksman, now!" "Uh, why?" "'cause your M16 broke and all we have to replace it are M14s!"
  9. It was most likely firing HE ammo. This bug was fixed in 1.05 and it would fire AP at the Stryker instead of HE, which will almost never penetrate no matter where it hits.
  10. Personally, I'd love a 80's Fulda Gap (or Red Storm Rising) scenario. But according to BFC it ain't gonna happen. They've looked at gameplay issues as well as market appeal and figured out a WW3 scenario wouldn't fly. </font>
  11. Wrong thread, same problem, Steve For a clarification (maybe you can reproduce this; I'll try to reproduce this later today) it was a quick battle, I ordered ny ATGM guys (3 teams) to run from their setup point to a building, up onto the roofs. After they did; 1 spent the rest of the scenario deploying on the roof (20+ minutes before I called it quits) 1 got killed after about 12 minutes (still deploying) 1 moved out into the open and wouldn't deploy, even though I left it there for about 8 minutes. Edit: On the bright side, my BMPs used their ATGMs and AP ammo exclusively on the Strykers, leading to some very spectacular fireworks as opposed to having to hit them 10-15 times before they were knocked out.
  12. No, I didn't. They just never deploy.
  13. Hasn't moved into regular service yet as far as I can tell. So check your sources.
  14. How long does it take to deploy some ATGMs?! I left some on the ground, some on a roof for 5-10 minutes and they still display "deploying"! Makes for very poor scenario balance when the best Syrian AT infantry spend the whole scenario deploying
  15. Hey Steve, I am going to visit family in another state for a week starting on the 24th. If you could get the 1.05 patch out a week before then, so I can play for at least a week, I'd appreciate it. Also I'm still waiting for that pony people told me to expect from CMSF. Will it be in 1.06?
  16. The latter actually makes sense. Dust clouds rise up quite high in the desert.
  17. I understand the sentiment entirely. But I'm going to play this game and I'd like to have a points buy system. If BFC isn't going to provide one, I'll just have to rig one up myself. I'd rather do that then just sit and pout about BFC providing me with something entirely different than what I thought I was getting.
  18. Its a little ridiculous, those things weren't designed to be crude APCs.
  19. Since Steve has mentioned that he will not put the effort in to get a points-based system (at least, this is what I have heard; if I am mistaken, someone please correct me and thanks.)... Why not do some of that ourselves? It'd take a huge load of work, I'd imagine, but it sounds like play balancing would be something people would want to do anyway. Any ideas on how that could be done or people who would be interested in it? Normally how I do "quick battles" is that my friend and I load up a map we want to play, clear out all the forces and purchase new ones.
  20. My one major question is why crawling exhausts troops so quickly. At the very least I'd like a rationale behind it.
  21. No, I think its very accurate to say everyone who purchase CMSF early got completely ripped off. When I pay for a game, the implicit assumption is that it will actually work well, and not be nigh-unplayable due to bugs and missing features. To get otherwise is to be defrauded. What actually happened was a massive case of fraud. I am, I suppose, a "supporter" of the guys here, in that I am patiently awaiting additional fixes, and think the game has improved to the point that its quite good fun (insurgent on insurgent is especially great, actually.) But lets not pretend something happened than what did. What happened was I was defrauded out of $50. Battlefront fixed it, and thank you for it, I suppose - but I'd have rather just not been defrauded in the first place. Again, no real will to go and get my money back, since the damage has been repaired. But all in all I'd have just rather not been stuck with a $50 hole in my account and no game to play.
  22. Is that a statistically significant "simple fact"? What does it mean, anyway? Does the .45 get more stops per engagement, regardless of the number of rounds used, or are the .45 and 9mm roughly equivalent in stops per engagement, with the 9mm firing more shots? </font>
  23. I would note that basing lethality predictions on calibre is shaky ground, as far as small-arms go. There are plenty of accounts of people still geting up after being hit by rifle or machine gun fire, and those pack vastly more energy and effect compared to a pistol. Of course, the plural of anecdote is not data, but the data suggests that, if you want your target to go down and stay down, that the shotgun is the preferred option. If you don't have time to pull a trigger on a semi-automatic weapon five times, then you have no time to do anything. The only sure stops are hits to the central nervous system, with any pistol. Equally, that doesn't make the 9mm any better than the .45. Go with what you like and can use. And be aware of what it means to use it before you have to. </font>
  24. My philosophy is, I prefer a little overkill. 9mm is a bullet, and it'll do the things that bullets do. .45ACP starts up 1/10" or so wider, and also expands a bit more iirc. So it gives you that much more of a chance to hit something vital enough to produce a stop. If someone prefers 9mm, I can't really tell them they're picking something inferior per se (other than, of course, noting the larger diameter.) I still prefer having all the % I can on my side, though. Before someone says "Well shoot them 5 more times with your extra ammo!", sometimes you don't have the time to pull the trigger 5 extra times. Also, just remember: Cop or Joe shmoe defending your home or life, you are MORALLY and LEGALLY responsible for where any misses go. I think I could hit someone in rapid fire at anything under 10 yards without a miss, but I've practiced a hell of a lot. You need to, too, if that's going to be your plan.
