  1. I did not play the first one but I have played Panzer general. I thought the game was great. I have a problem with my units being blurry even though I have a fairly new PC. It took me a few try's to figure out what all the buttons did, but now its not a problem. One question though; how can you tell weather your aircraft is a bomber or fighter? On the same note how can you tell what kind of tanks you have? When the game comes out and you are allowed to purchase units can you buy light, medium and heavy tanks or is it that you only have a choice to buy one general tank type? For instance can I buy PzII and Tigers at the same time or is it just the generic purchase tank depending on tech level?
  2. Loaded fine but I'm having the same problems as you with my units not showing themselves.
  3. I now realize that I have enough time. Man I have to say again this is a great map. The one thing that bugs me, (and this is out of your control) is that from battle to battle in an operation your infantry AT weapons change. For instance all my infantry are now carrying Molitov's instead of magnetic mines and such. It really eerked me to see that.
  4. Women in the US made up a great deal of the work force during ww2 as well. In fact most of your quoted paragraph could have applied to the US as well. The US had women test piolets and other various duties. I think the big deference was, that the war was being fought on Russian soil. If the war had been fought in the US you would have seen simular things. Plus I believe German gals were put into military service towards the end when the fighting was going on on german soil. The whole point is, that this is not very unique plus it wasn't like the amazon hordes pushed the evil german invader out while the men tended to the children.
  5. Never mind I just found them. They look nice, I just don't play to many winter scenario's. I don't think you should feel like you have to erase them. Just because you put them up doesn't mean it's going to sell like hot cakes. Variety is always a good thing. I'm willing to bet that 90% of the stuff on cmmods hardly ever gets DL'ed but thats not saying that it all sucks.
  6. DL from where, cmmods????? I don't see your name in the designers search.
  7. I wondered the same thing myself.I set the installer to just insert the files to my documents. All there was, was just these six or so battles, no other files. I think they did this just to make it easy for everyone.
  8. I have one small question;-----Spolier------ I am currently playing the first battle and was wondering why the designer decided to use three individual Toldia tanks instead of a platoon minus. I know it’s a very small and insignificant question but was just wondering. For anyone who enjoys small battles with low points this is a very good scenario. Simple and fun. Oh and are all these scenario's designed to be played against the AI?
  9. Wow this is great thanks for posting it here.
  10. Man I have to tell you George, this is a great OP. I'm 15mins into the first battle and am having a great time. This is another vs AI great that you guys have created. I was already a fan but I really think this is the best one yet. Any plans for another series or maybe even more of the Piper scenarios. Maybe next time you could do a series covering a Russian unit or commander? The only gripe/question; I don't think two battles will be enough. Like I said I'm only 15 minutes into the first battle and have hammered through the Soviet road block with very minimal casualties so it might be sufficient. I have to commend you on the realist unit mixture. I also thought it was pure genius having those FO’s simulate an air attack since air is so unpredictable. Over all great job again, appreciate the hard work and keep them coming. Oh I also wanted to say great idea not including flags in this one since I think it throughs the AI off.
  11. I think I'm missing something, where did Fionn go and why did he go? I read some of his AAR's nicely done, but why is he so important? I've heard people for the past couple of years mention him here and there but have always wondered where he is.
  12. But the British and the Germans (I don't know about the Italians) all had tanks that did carry smoke. The CS tanks of the Brits and the Panzer IVs. I forget the exact mix, but I think there were 2-4 in every company (squadron). So buy a few for your armor. You might get a mortar spotter too. They are great for putting down smoke. Michael </font>
  13. Bannon I would just like to say your operation-combined arms south of Kiev is probably my favorite operation that I have played. Especially against the AI. I am currently playing it against a human opponent. I am Axis by the way and am playing your first version. I took the liberty to add two more tanks to begin the first battle and adjusted ammo content a bit, but other than that it is excellent. I noticed you had a new version out, I’ll have to try that one later. Now on to my main point, I think operations are great if you play by a few rules, most importantly, like Bannon said, "play as they lay". I don't think you can simulate all the great things operations bring to the table by simply adjusting turn amounts or by scheduling reinforcements at different intervals in a single scenario. Like some have mentioned earlier one great thing is the addition of conditional reinforcements in OP’s, which can’t be done, in regular scenarios. Plus if you want to simulate a 2-3 day battle you can simulate different times of a 24hr period in an OP. Such as the battle begins at dawn, you fight through out the day and night until the following dawn. You can't simulate different changes of time in a single scenario. Plus you might have different weather from one battle to another in OP’s, which you won't get in a regular scenario. Lastly I think the vehicle repair and return option is a brilliant idea and really ad's to OP's, which again scenario's can't simulate.
  14. Well for instance early tanks of all nations usually don't come with smoke. Some of them only have AP rounds avalible. MikeyD has the right idea. Except I would say drop your smoke on the enemies location instead of yours, especially if your advancing some where. This way it only blocks his sight to you and everything else. Where as if you dropped smoke on yourself you wont be able to see anything around you, so you will not have very good LOS to anything. Plus if you are using tanks you will just simply drive out of your smoke screen and you will be back to square one. I use typically anything under 105mm for smoke and reserve the big stuff for HE use. But sometimes as a last resort I will use the big stuff for smoke too. It last longer and covers a wider area.
  15. 1148, I have all of his scenarios that he put out. (I think) So if you’re still interested send me an email (its in my profile) and I'll be happy to send them your way. Dey I too am a fan of the mighty Dey. I not only like your scenarios but your mods as well. You’re in my top three for modding genius. Don’t get discouraged amigo; keep your Dey head up. Oh and why are you so mad?
  16. I wonder, and I'm sure this has been asked 1,000 times but why can't they do a patch for this? I would probably add this game to my CM collection if they did.
  17. I don't think there is unfortunately. Hopefully you can adjust what kinds of rounds and what amount you want to use in future releases. I had a simular thing happen to me during a cmak game. There was a FT team in a house so I demo'ed it. It blew the house up with the first charge but my guys threw all three charges.
  18. Please excuse my ignorance on this but is this one of the best books to have in regards to the East Front? Is it first hand accounts or is it just the author’s historical commentary or was he a participant?
  19. You should put your email address in your profile so people can email you accepting your pbem offer. I have room for another game, if you'd like just send me an email, the address is in my profile.
  20. You mean to tell us those guys weren't real soldiers? They are still human and gave a human response to the horror they encountered unexpectantly. I understand that you serve in the Canadian Army, but I assume you have never encountered something like they did, so you don’t know 100% how you would have reacted to such a situation.
