  1. Admitted, i should have made it more obvious I wasn't being too serious with my request, rather curious.

Dave, thank you for clearing that one up - it's not always easy to find out the facts even with the modern internet unless you know exactly where to look for and which questions to ask. I was wondering how realistic the use of those weapons would have been.

  2. The fun fact is that during the time my father served in the German Army at least nuclear shells for the field artillery were considered viable and tactically sound.

I'm not quite sure about the "Davy Crockett" (M28/M29), but I recall seeing something in his old training manual... I'm NOT talking about missiles, but rather nuclear ammo within the scope of the game.

I hope so. I'm also planning on some scenarios and I also hope gifted people like George MC, Kohlenklau, Mord, Aris, Kevenkin, Earl Grey and others will return or stay around and continue to stay passionate about the Eastern front.

P.s and all the others who've contributed to CMRT!

If there weren't so many mods to make all the time... But there still are those "GD" mods in the works I started all those years ago, do not worry! 😉

  4. I don’t know how others are doing it, but tricky part of modding vehicles is to properly map all of those texture parts.

Well... There are different ways of finding out what part of the texture belongs where, but essentially you're doing everything right. Most parts can be matched to the 3D model by simply looking at it ( you know for example what a Tiger's turret roof looks like), others have to be colored and found.

This is far easier than doing them from scratch though... ;)

  5. Hm... Well, some of those old modders aren't around anymore as far as I can tell. MikeyD is doing ALL of the official game textures and is a part of the BFC team. I help him with that from time to time.

And IF I find some spare time, I still mod. But nothing has been finished properly yet that I could show...

  6. May I politely request some variety? The following are pictures of more or less contemporary equipment:

Admitted, the colors are a bit odd and those patterns could very well be "invented" just to make everything look cool, but since we're in a more or less fictional setting... :)

  7. Hm... Well, I do see - a VERY faded - standard pattern on the "018" and the "122". It is possible they're using non-permanent paint tht washes and/or fades pretty quickly and was just applied to make the equipment look good for the media and the people.

They take what they can get and having evey tank camouflaged is taking time. From what I've seen, the Ukrainians have/use about a DOZEN different patterns for their vehicles - some old, some pretty new and still being tested. There even is some kind of digital pattern seen on some BMD-2s.

The most likely scenario is that older equipment carries old patterns (like the Soviet-era standard 3-tone one), intermediate equipment is rather green than anything else and the newest stuff would be painted in either this digital pattern or the black/grey/green 3-tone one.

  8. Good question. Given the situation in teh ukraine, those tanks might not have been painted becasue they are needed at the frontline.

Remember that German tanks during WW2 were issued in PLAIN yellow - to be camouflaged by the crews according to the local situation. In my opinion it's most likley a time issue in this case. Plus, in this weather the vehicles will soon be covered by a thick layer of mud, dust and other dirt and you wouldn't see any camo pattern anyway...

  9. A question though: If there is no camouflage to applied anymore since 2012, why are there so many vehicles still seen in 3-tone patterns? Will these be repainted? Vehicles from National Guard/reserve units?

Just asking becasue I don't know much about the modern stuff but always liked those Russian camouflage patterns and was hoping to see some of them in the game...
