  1. True ... though I'd have to actually get a copy of Windows to do that.
  2. Wow, I just set up a new Mac Mini with a NVIDIA GeForce 320M, and came rushing over to Battlefront for the first time in a long time -- really, since I used to run CM1 on my old G3 laptop way back in the day. I was at first crushed to see that there isn't much of anything current and CM-ish that seems to run on OS X, but then hope sprang anew at the apparently imminent (? or at least not impossibly distant) release of CM:BM for OS X. Assuming I can get an eventual demo to run happily on my Mini, I would then instantly order CM:BM proper. I'm not much of a gamer, but I loved CM1 to death, and played it more than I think I have played any other game before or since!
  3. I don't have an Intel Mac, but I probably will by the time any version of CM is available for OS X. But even if Intel-only CM came out tomorrow, I wouldn't weep. I've been waiting to play some version of CM again ever since I upgraded to OS X back when 10.0 came out (!) and could probably survive until I had to upgrade from my G4 to a new Intel machine anyway. But original CM was good enough to keep me watching for any OS version of it to appear. I guess I've got more waiting to do ....
  4. Heh, it was only moments ago that I stumbled across the Cider info myself -- and, strangely enough , I instantly rushed to the BF forum to see if there was any info or hint that this might boost chances of someday seeing some version of CM for some version of OS X on Macs with any kind of CPU! I dutifully read the occasional BF e-newsletters that come my way, but all has been seeming silent on the CM for OS X front .... Cheers, Carl
  5. I too have been been wondering about what's up with CM for OS X (from my lurking space on the sidelines). I was hooked by originalCM when it was still beta, and ordered it as soon as it came out -- which I've never done for any other game! In fact, I've barely played any games since my Classic-running G3 finally died :/ It's nice to see that DropTeam will support OS X, but it's real-time and I want my good ol' turned-based CM back! Admittedly, I don't know that I would buy an XP license just to play CM .... I mean, what else do I need XP for? But I would buy CM for OS X in a heartbeat! One good reason to continue development might just be "Mac-users would buy the game" I remember that I signed up to some Battlefront.com email list in hopes of hearing more about progress on CM for OS X, but little news has been forthcoming .... :/
  6. Flattery is always welcomed Ah, I wish I had the time and money to revisit the Edlund font(s) and do 'em up nicely, with Unicode compliance and fixed-up hinting; they still print all right, though Now I'll get back on topic and go away to wait for any word about whether Apple's proposed move to Intel will affect CMX2 development for OS X. I'm worried about whether lack of Altivec support (if I understand this issue aright) is going to cause trouble. Dammit, Apple keep changing their graphics stuff just in time to screw with CM for Mac! Cheers, Carl
  7. Perfect -- thanks for the link! I had scrougned around on the site and somehow failed to find that page. Cheers, Carl
  8. I was a keen fan of original CM when it came out, and played it regularly on my old Powerbook running System 9 -- in fact, original CM was the first game I ever bought at the time of release and also that I ever played for more than a couple of weeks (I'm not a big gamer). Well, the old machine has long since died and I haven't been able to justify a seperate machine running 9 solely to play CM, so CM fell by the wayside years ago. Still, I have NEVER forgotten how cool original CM was, nor the promise that there would someday be a CMX2 that ran on OS X. I knew it would take a while to see this happen; graphics engines are tricky and, obiviously enough, the Mac is not a big market. But a couple of time a year, I search around to see how CMX2 is shaping up, and it looks like we are actually getting close if the word is now end of 2005. What I'd like to ask is this: Is there a sort of email news update from Battlefront for product news announcements? There's not much point in my hanging around the forums all the time, since I don't currently have a game to play, but I would *DEFINITELY* like to know the *MOMENT* that there's an OS-X demo of CMX2 and the *INSTANT* that it goes on sale. I watched the release of original CM like a hawk and I would like to be there to pounce on CMX2, since I have every confidence it will rule I would love to get an email newsletter every month or so updating me on CMX2 progress. Cheers, Carl
