  1. Yep, this will do me. Just downloaded it and installed it. Brilliant. It must be good if it prevents me from taking my TVR out for a spin this evening. Well I can see a long evening learning how to operate theater of war. Got it runing at 1920x1200 on my 24" Dell. Really stunning graphics. Still I'm a big Combat Mission fan so will also visit CMAK and CMBB tonight as I do evry but evening .
  2. It would be nice to have wide screen support, i.e., 1920x1200, and support for SLi? (I'll keep me fingers crossed)
  3. An excellent Mod. Thanks for your hard work in creating this mod.
  4. I purchased 2 GF7800GTXs and SLi'ed them on an ASUS A8N motherboard with AMD64 3700 CPU. It absolutely rocks, especially as I have a Dell 24" 2405 TFT and play all games at 1920x1200 with full AA. This replaces my 3.2GHz P4 with single 6800GT card, which struggles at 1920x1200 without AA. I play FAR Cry with HDR enabled and get about 20 FPS (which is playable), not bad considering 2 6800 gives you about 10 FPS. With no HDR, I can run Far Cry at 1920x1200 with everything full on, and it does'nt even flinch.HDR does impact even the GF7800s. This system is a bit of an overkill for CMBO, CMBB, CMAK but I have noticed that the AMD64 Athlon is a better processor than the Pentium 4. Some huge battles in CMBB now take on average 1 min to process the AI, as opposed to 2 mins on the P4.
  5. Thanks everyone for the info. I renamed the CMBO AVI file and now CMBO boots up into the start menu without going through the intro. Problem solved.
  6. I get a similar problem when running CMBO in XP(SP2). My graphics card is an nVidia 6800Ultra using the latest nVidia drivers. When you start CMBO it does not go to the game start up menu and does not play the intro music. It just iconizes to the desk top. When you open the icon you are faced with a black screen. You then have to remember where on the screen the menues are, and then when you select a task like scenario editor, no problems then on. I think it maybe that CMBO intro is not the correct format for the media player in XP, and therefore can't play the intro or load the startup screen.
  7. Just about top of the range system. You might want to get another 6800GT and SLI it with the other one. This gives you 2 PCI Express x16 graphics cards. Should be able to get one for sub £200. This will give you more than enough for the next 6-12 months. Your system really is an overkill for Combat Mission, but excellent for Doom3 and HL2. I got the Dell 2405 24" wide screen TFT recently and with my 6800 Ultra, combat mission is out of this world in detail and graphics. Slightly stretch cos it does not support 1920x1200, but still exceptable to view and play, but the screen is BIGGGGGGGGGGGGG.
  8. I noticed while reading my history books that the Germans liked to hide ATGs in buildings. The Close Combat games allowed you to do this (small ATGs - 57mm etc), but Combat Mission does not directly. You can fool the graphics in Combat Mission by placing the ATG on the map first then the building. With a bit of frigging around it works. I tried both ATGs and bunkers in buildings, against enemy tanks. Whats the point you might say. Well it makes beach defences more interesting. The ATGs in buildings appear to withstand small arms fire and tank gun fire to a point, but once the building is destroyed the gun is knocked out. The bunkers are a different matter, they withstand allot of punishment, even with the building destroyed. Its common sense to have some infantry around for support. But all this is nothing against heavy artillery.
  9. Hi, Upgrading your memory from 256MByte to 512MByte of RAM is a good idea, but won't help you speed up the sluggishness in the game significantly. Its down to raw cpu power, how much onboard cache the CPU has, how much system RAM, and how much RAM the graphics card has. To give you an idea, when playing huge senarios on my machine which is a 3.2GHz P4 (512KByte Cache), 2GByte DDR syetm memory, Gainwood 256Mbyte 6800GT Graphics card) it is still sluggish when playing a Huge scenario. I tend to stay away from Huge scenarios! Hope this helps.
  10. Can CMBO, CMBB, and CMAK play on a wide screen TFT monitor. Has anyone tried this.
