  1. Just a little update and encouragement for anyone who has not downloaded this map yet - I am having a blast with it! My guys are moving up the road, and in the process giving some excellent cinematic moments - I'm really rooting for them!
  2. I had a quick look this morning, and got my butt kicked in the first 60 seconds!
  3. I keep seeing this and meaning to download the mission, but never when I'm at my CM PC!
  4. The way that I know works is this: 1) Select a squad (or other formation, but just a bunch of guys) 2) Issue them more than one waypoint, preferably close together. 3) Before they reach a waypoint click on it, then add a pause to that waypoint. The pause can be for a period of time, or you can keep pushing the button until it becomes a permanent pause. You should now see that your boys stay upright when they reach the waypoint. To see how this is different from normal, select another squad, issue them a single waypoint, and watch how they go to ground when they get to it.
  5. That's right, they don't hide, they just hit the deck. This is particularly annoying in long grass!
  6. If you don't give them a pause they go to ground, which is what people are trying to avoid (rather than any command delays, which as you say are not there). I hadn't tried just setting a permanent pause at the waypoint, noxnoctum has added a useful addition to the technique I suggested - this way you don't have to have them moving around every 90 seconds.
  7. I was getting frustrated with this just this week, but I think I discovered a partial solution. Assign your squads short movement orders and then place a pause (say 1 minute) on each waypoint. They will not go to ground when they pause.
  8. I also get a CTD in this scenario, this morning just as I took a troop across the bridge. Win 7 x64, 2GB Ram, 9600 GT
  9. A ha ha ha ha ha ha ha - that is the funniest thing I've read in ages
  10. I've just read the whole thread for the first time, that's great work LongLeftFlank. Thanks for all the hours you are putting in!
  11. *************SPOILERS ********************** I didn't have to give up any of the ground I started with, just called in a lot of arty and used Warriors and Scimitars to destroy individual bits of light armour. I did use the Javelins on the tanks, but only because I'd pushed some Scimitars forward and was worried about them if I'd waited the four minutes for air support. I got the impression though that the tanks had no effective night vision, as I had Warriors plinking away at them with no reply, so perhaps the Javelins were wasted. The AI felt ok to me, but I'm not a great player! They did push through the lines but I cleaned them up with Warriors, and they almost got through the middle, but I think the bombardments slowed them down. I think the only way to lose this one would be to push forward with your own forces. If Blue just waits for the Reds to come into sight the massive artillery selection wins the battle. ******************** Not sure how campaigns work, sorry!
  12. Played it, 1 WIA, 1 KIA, 1 Scimitar toasted through overconfidence, but Total Victory with Syrian Surrender after about an hour. I did use 3 javelins though... I didn't see any bugs or weirdness, so it looks ready to go to me.
  13. I'd be up for it, though I'm far from a great CMSF player. If I can be helpful, send them to marktuma @ google's popular email service. Cheers.
  14. I'm happy in the moment, and on the existential plane someone mentioned, can I have a puppy please?
  15. I don't question the military value of killing a particular insurgent, nor particularly of combat troops need to dehumanise the enemy (although I think that comes home to roost for our troops in later years, just IMO), but most of us here are not in combat at the moment, many of us will never be, and remembering that people who oppose us are still people isn't going to cause us to freeze at the crucial moment.
  16. No matter whose side that person was on, he was still someone's son/husband/loved one/whatever. It worries me when we celebrate a person's death, I thought we were supposed to be better than the terrorists?
  17. It's only my opinion, but I like the campaigns, and enjoy fighting my way through them aware that screwing up this time is going to hurt badly in the next fight.
  18. TF Thunder was the first campaign - try the Marines or Brits campaigns. However, I think it's pitched at a different level from what you're talking about though - the campaign link element is in preserving your forces for later missions, you will notice if you take too many losses early on!
  19. I've played some of the standalones, and every one has been great so far. I particularly remember enjoying the Sabre Squadron one.
  20. I've got a seven year old PC, and I'm perfectly happy with framerates, hope that helps your thinking.
  21. Great video, just building the anticipation up another notch...
  22. It's a good pitch Martin, but will it work on my wife?? "It's like this dear, I didn't want to pay $20 on shipping charges for a book, so instead I bought some more games and saved a bundle." Maybe I'll have to wait patiently and combine it with CM:Normandy on CD or something...
  23. I've had my eye on the CMAK Companion for ages, and I was about to jump all over it at just $10 - bargain I thought. Unfortuneatly the only shipping option to the UK costs $20, making it too much for me to feel ok about explaining to my wife... Is there any chance of the Companion being released as an eBook, or of there being some cheaper shipping option to us Brits? Cheers, Teeps
  24. Just adding another voice to those having this issue. I experienced this last night, all the same symptoms. I have Win XP SP3, 2 Gig Ram, Athlon 3800x2 (I think), loads of disk space.
  25. Not sure if vBulletin will actually allow those things to be changed will it?
