  1. This site seems to say that the mg 131 has no firing pin and is only electrically fired. maybe two versions where produced? Like the mg 151/15? http://www.lonesentry.com/manuals/tme30/ch7sec9sub3.html
  2. Would it be very unrealistic to give a sdfkz 221/222/223 or say a so variant of the sdfkz 250 etc a mg 131? The mg 131 was a 13mm heavy machinegun. The only vehicle I have found so far that mounted the mg 131 was the Sicherungsfahrzeug UE(f) – Luftwaffe security vehicle. It would seem like some of the vehicles in the Luftwaffe Panzer-Späh-Zug would have mounted mg 131 or mg 151/15 especially considering that they where by the end of the war going obsolete and where available. Some of the paper panzers P 1000, P 1500, PzKpfw IX and PzKpfw X where also on paper going to get mg151/15’s and of course the SdKfz 251/21 had three mg151/15 or mg151/20’s but what other vehicles go these weapons? The other think I am confused about is the mg 131 electronically fired only? This site seems to suggest the mg 131 was used by ground forces at least to some degree and the mg 131 seems to have a trigger. Could someone who knows give me a run down on this? http://www.geocities.com/Augusta/8172/panzerfaust5.htm#mg131 [ June 05, 2006, 10:56 PM: Message edited by: Jasper 2x ]
  3. There is no significant difference between moving and non-moving accuracy on modern MBTS right that in itself is a significant difference for ww2.
  4. I always play TCP/IP but your right CMs TCP/IP is kind of bare bones and is only really good for lan play.
  5. 120MM M830 HEDP is obsolete look at the M830A1 HEAT-MP-T. "HEAT-MP-T uses a discarding sabot with a sub-caliber warhead". Like I said the vast majority of 120mm smoothbore rounds are sub caliber http://www.defense-update.com/products/digits/120he-mp.htm The M830 also not really HE.
  6. Most smoothbore ammunition is sub-calibre. The only full-calibre western HE rounds I know of are the 120mm and 105mm Rheinmetall HE rounds. http://www.rheinmetall-detec.de/index.php?lang=3&fid=880&query=he%20120mm Rheinmetall has been trying to push its new 105mm smoothbore. Which it hopes will be used on the MGS. http://www.rheinmetall-detec.de/index.php?lang=3&fid=835 So it’s possible to fire HE out of a smoothbore. But you would need enough fin area to stabilize the round and the fins take up space inside the shell, wild speculation on my part but I wonder if the new Rheinmetall rounds use unfolding fins. One reason the Challenger still has a rifled gun is to maintain high accuracy with HESH shells
  7. Something to remember is that the M68A1 gun. Is rifled so it can fire HE much better then the M256 smoothbore. Basically the Stryker MGS is a wheeled medium/ light skinned tank destroyer/ assault gun combination. [ October 13, 2005, 12:46 PM: Message edited by: Jasper 2x ]
  8. The USA did have the M202A1 Flame Assault Shoulder Weapon (Flash) http://www.inetres.com/gp/military/infantry/flame/M202.html [ October 11, 2005, 05:28 PM: Message edited by: Jasper 2x ]
  9. Ya that’s kind of what I have heard to but the 6.8mm seems like a better round….. Oh forgot to add the Auto Assault 12 (AA12) and AA-12 CQB used in Iraq. Add the FRAG-12 ammo and you have a very nice system.
  10. What kinds of small arms is Combat Mission: Shock Force going to include? Below is my wish list. The 12.7mm XM312 Machinegun is going to be a lot lighter then the M2HB 6.8mm XM-8 or M468 rifle. Hey it could happen by 2007 25mm XM-25 The XM-25 is currently undergoing field trials in Germany and is scheduled to enter service in 2008. It’s still possible it could make it in to the 2007 time frame. XM-26 LSS (lightweight shotgun system) What about Special Forces in Combat Mission: Shock Force? I know that the rangers used Strykers in Afghanistan although they are not really Special Forces. But Special Forces get all the cool weapons like…. XM109 25MM Payload Rifle Mk. 48 model 0 FN SCAR-H FN SCAR-L
  11. I think the Spike is a great idea as an alternative to the Javelin, especially if it is a lot cheaper. I wonder if the control systems are the same for each version, meaning if you know how to use one you can use them all. I only hope Israel is very selective of who they sell them to. </font>
  12. What do you guys think of the spike family which is suppose to be more technologically advanced then javelin and a lot cheaper and smaller. I have seen cost of $6,000 for the launcher and $4,000 for the missile. I have no idea what version this is referring to. You have Spike SR Short Range AT Missile 800 meters, Spike MR Medium Range AT Missile 2,500 meters (like javelin) and Spike LR Long Range AT Missile 4,000 meters. With these types of weapons you have to wonder has the age of the dinosaurs finally ended or will new armors maybe even nanotechnology resurrect the lumbering beasts once again? 13. This thread deals with the multiplayer aspect of cmx2. Below are is my wish list of multiplayer. I am sure that may others have ideas are well…. No PBEM suggestions please that has been discussed a million times . 1. Ability to “buy” your units at the same time as your opponent in quick battle 2. Ability to save the game during the setup phase and not lose your unit placement 3. In-game server browser 4. Tracking of players stats wins/loses so that the game can rank players by skill level. 5. Quick match based on players ranking. 6. More then two players in a multiplayer game. (It has already been stated that this will not be in the first release.)
