  1. Yes, but ESCAPE now quits. This should allow mere mortals to exit the app while being a little less ugly.

EDIT: Ha - sorry about that. I had originally typed braces around the word ESC so the BBS thought it was HTML and pulled it.

  2. Yes, we can, and we already have a volunteer lined up who also has this problem - he's going to refresh while we're watching in the debugger, which will be even better. Poesel, if you're able and willing to schedule a time for such a test that would be a big help, too. Email me if so.

I strongly suspect some kind of PAT issue, but there's little point in speculating until we see what's really happening. However, any theories are greatly welcome, Type98!

  3. ...is now available via Update. On Windows, use Start/Programs/Battlefront/DropTeam Public Test/Game Updater to get it. On Mac OS X, double click on the Update icon in /Applications. On Linux, use the runUpdate.sh script.

    Fixes in 0.9.44:

    </font>

    • Fixed empty/intermittent server list on Network tab (still need feedback on this one)</font>
    • Collapse minimap when no longer in control of a unit</font>
    • Fixed drop dialog sorting by different columns when clicking a location to drop</font>
    • Change Vote to Kick to a team vote instead of a global vote</font>
    • Fixed settings failing to save when user's home path is on a different volume from DropTeam</font>
    • Fixed Cutter's EMP defense</font>
    • Bots will not kill themselves or attempt extraction for 30 seconds, giving you time to finish them off</font>

  4. Yes, we should be able to do that, Morat. The main problem is that it's usually the microphone input on the recording side that's quiet, so we actually have to normalize the sound on the other end. At any rate, we should be able to make it easier to hear.

  5. night of the refresh monkeys
That was a *terrible* film - so much needless violence.

We've raised the connection timeout on the server list for the upcoming 0.9.44 release. Please post again once you've updated to 0.9.44 and report whether this has helped or not. We're still trying to find some way to reproduce the problem here but haven't had any luck yet so we really need (and greatly appreciate) your feedback on this problem!

  6. Doctor, can you check to see what the HOMEPATH environment variable is set to? To do that, open a command prompt by choosing Start/Run... and then typing "cmd" and pressing RETURN. At the command prompt, type:

    </font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">set</pre>

  7. Hmm, seein is believin?
Yeah, well, you know how it is... smile.gif

Thanks for the output. You're right that iptables isn't it. Digging around for a suitable test box to put Ubuntu on now ... sigh ... smile.gif

Will advise when we know more.

  8. Kurtz, the coverage that is displayed changes based on whether you're currently picking a drop location or not. When you're not picking a drop location, all friendly AA assets show their effective radii on the map. When you are picking a drop location, then only those friendly AA assets which provide defensive cover for your dropship are shown (such as ion beam towers). This is so that, while you are picking a point to drop, you can see where it is "safe" to drop - where you will get some friendly defensive fire on your way down. The stupid thing about this, as it works right now, is that it does this even during the deployment phase when no dropships are needed. That just makes it harder to see where you have coverage without any benefit, so we can stop doing this during deployment.

Yurch, you're right about the lack of a message for kills by turrets. We'll get that in pretty soon.

As for handling a map that is saturated in enemy AA turrets, it's not very hard for a coordinated team to make a foothold and clear out a wider DZ. But you *have* to do it together. If you all drop together with the right mix of units then, yes, you will lose some dropships on the way down, but the survivors can very quickly clear out turrets in the area, making the 2nd and subsequent drops of your teammates easy. And yes, of course the enemy is going to be laying indirect fire into you, which is why you included a good number of Hermes in your drop, and he will be laying EMP into you, which is why you included a Cutter, and he will be putting direct fire on you, which is why you brought a Thor or two for the Hermes and Cutter to hide behind, etc. etc....

  9. kmead, nothing's changed regarding this problem. Since you catch sight of a server every now and then I would bet that the problem is that the timeout on the server list is too short for you. Did you have this problem prior to updating to 0.9.43, or is it new with 0.9.43? (I am assuming you have updated to 0.9.43).
