Hard to keep a discussion focused with all these Zapp-spam, so here is a new topic continuing Questions to Terif and to other veterans @Terif : So a "Russian only AA rule" seems to be a fair one... As you said it may force the Germans to keep pressure on Russia but this is just like any strategy and is not unablancing or twisting the game in a major way it seems... I mean that any startegy (air techs, sealion, Irak flanking...) forces the oppenent to do a conter strategy to adapt so the Russia AA will just do the same as any strategy in a fair way... I will try to play "Russian AA rule" a bite to see how it goes... Would you play it to to test it for a while? Desaix

  4. @Terif Ok, I see better why you proposed the no AA rule now, instead of doing a general limit on air tech... The air warfare is taking a lot of ressources and some startegies can be based only on this point... So, I still liked the AA aspect to counter it for "cheap". For example, Sealions are usualy done with huge air raids that can take an English city every turn... AA investement here could help slowing this as Germans AF would have more repairs... Same for Russia, despite of well organized Russian lines, Germans can take cities just with air bombing and a corps... So my question and suggestion here is what about a : "No Axe AA research rule" as mainly Axe can abuse it and so it can still get some startegies opened for the allies ? Or it migth also be " No German AA" to allow Italian options maybe... Another suggestion, but I prefer the first one, would be a "Russia only AA research allowed" to at least give this option to Russia... What are your thougths on these ? I agree with you Max, I hope we will have the options to turn these toy model token into normal wargame token and that we will also have the option to have the vertical view on the board and not the side one only... I hope Hubert have not spent too much time/money on the graphics as we will probably turn them off as fast as we can
  6. Ok, I see what you mean now Terif with the AA rule... In summary: Germany can start AA researche to have more air bonus cumulated for city based AF and allies won't have enought MPP to compet on a 3rd tech for air balance... So came out his no AA reasearch rule. But this AA is not an air only tech as it can also be usefully used to LIMIT air attacks on ground troops in cities/ressources... So we can say it is a mixed land and air effect tech. I undersand that the air aspect of this tech cumulated with the 2 other Air tech can be a run for Air based game... But when you forbid it you also forbid the effect on ground units to defend against air... I am sure you wouldn't want this aspect to be limited but the game is build like this... I think that maybe the Air issue should be adressed directly. The "air war" games effect is brougth by the cumulation of all the air tech together. So why not trying to set a rule to limit directly air fields tech ? Jet, Lr and maybe AA can be considered as air tech... Have you tried house rules of limiting Air tech reserch investement to 3 points or 4 points in each of the tech ? So air units will be slower to get powerfull, range will be shorter for longer, etc... What are your opinions on this ?
  7. Thank you Sombra, it was one of the most stressfull SC game I ever played, I enoyed it very much... I learnt a lot in this game and Allies had not much bid as far as I remember... I should now be able to play Axe around 200 bid now and be a decent oponent... I should fix my tcp/ip connection soon, I will keep you informed...   8. April 1942 Great month today : London falls after heavy bombing and Rundsted lands victoriously in Buckingam ! England surrenders, royal family sent to St Helene island... That very same month all english are killed in Irak but now Russians are coming.... It is the end of an empire and the begining of a new one it seems ...
  9. After heavy bombing, German panzer enter in Manchester... Nothing in Africa... Ususal skimrich in Irak, some Russians are coming from the north... On the Poland border, germans attack back Russian, one tank down to 2 and some armies weakened... Russian have sent corps to threaten mine in Sweden... Some corps are waiting for them there...

  11. Nice AAR, was fun to follow the games... I would have hope Zapp to have change strategy and not to have used the same one during the 3 games... But at least, now we know for sure that this one doesn't work against Terif ...
  12. Russia dowed Germany... They are facing the german army ready for a limited Barbarossa... In England, almost 2 corps destroyed, German next to Manchester now... Nothing in Africa... Brit ran away from Gib this turn... In Irak, one Brit corps get a hit of 1, as every turn... Only 3 uk there now all between 2 and 4... They ar killed by a german AF in the city, a german army and a Italian corps both in the desert...
  13. Sure... It is mainly for city with ports and especialy for Norway... Each time I kill the city corps and land 2 armies each side and sometimes I can move a transport in the port sometimes not... All the time there are no enemies corps around...

  15. Terif, you proposed this rule in your post for the games against Zap: - optional: no Anti-air research (only the starting levels for UK/USA). With veterans I play only with AA rule in the meantime to have a more land based, better and longer game, but here it is up to you. This brings me 2 questions : 1° - How does this rule bring a more land based game ? Using a air based strategy costs Jet and LR research and AA is the only cheap way to partialy counter it without going into Jet and LR tech race that leads to a complet Air game... So as far as I can see, preventing AA will lead to a more air based game... But of course I am missing the 480 games experience you have over me... So can you explain the logic behind forbiden AA ? 2° - In a previous post about landing on Dow, you expalained how the landing on Italy (except RRI) was giving more startegical options but the landing on Russia was restricting them... So why did you ask for "top games" to have some Italian options limited ? You also wanted the game to be more land based, so to limit the air based startegies... Why is it better to limit strategies ? Are some game breaker ? Desaix
  16. Hello all, So the questions to day is about the capacity to land into a defended port... When the port-city have an enemy unit inside, you can not enter the port itself... Usualy when you destroy the corps in the port-city and have troops on land around the port-city, it allows your transport to enter the port zone the very same turn and to land into the port-city you just emptied... But sometime you are denied the entry to the port despite of an empty port-city... Why is this ? What makes it possible or not ? Desaix
  17. Toke me a bite of time to play this turn, as I had to read all the topics on URSS readiness to be sure to safe the few perc I needed ... Corps killed in UK, others under attack, AF moved to Scotland, landed one more HQ in England... Nothing new in Africa... Finishing to kill the remaining Brit in Irak...

  19. Germans take Edinburgh, killing 2 uk corps there... More toops landed : Panzers enjoy very much the green grass... Corps around London getting hits... Termination of British terrorists around Bagdad still going on slowly... Italian doing some damages to African British troops, nothing major...
  20. Bad news for England... One uk ship and one carrier sunk by German subs in the Irish sea... Monty was killed... This terrorist leader flee into the montains, but was hunted by germans AF in coordination with a gound commando... Uk corps under attack by germans army in north England... One uk corps destroyed, 2 german armies next to Edinbough now... Italian messing in Afirca as usual... Bagdad still holding, another FF corps down to 1...
  21. Germans troops slowly moving down from the Highlands to Edinburgh... Sub moving to carriers protected by half sunk boats (down to 1)... Landing next to Edinburgh, one Uk corps destroyed, city garison corps down to 4... Tansports arriving in south of England to In Irak, another Uk corps killed... Italians not moving much in Africa, messing around Tobruk...
  22. Visitor landed in Scotland and some more are coming... Luftwaf raided Scotland to: 1 RAF destroyed, all the carriers had to do interceptions... Killed one Bit corps running away in the desert, another Uk corps down to 1 next to Bagdad... Don't worry , underestimating Irak battlefield is a common mistake as we can see in the news
  23. Finaly... Yougo still figthing with Bulgarian, Romanian, etc... Should be finished next turn... Minor figths in Africa, still figths around Bagdad and in the desert... Irak still in the Axe, since 1939, like good old whisky... German transports finaly around Scotland... These preparations toke a hell of time, but here we are ... @Sombra about AF : one was enough to hold Bagdad, as some ground toops were on the way...
