  1. When i dont have much time , i love to play a quick a QB. The purchasing process is possibly the most fun part ... tend to find the actual battle inst up to much , not the same challenge as a BATTLE or CAMPAIGN. Found a cracking map recently Meeting-Engagement Med Rough 67 .... farm perch on a hill and a nice valley. Beautifully drawn map. edited to say , purchase system for campaigns , now that would be fun .... not too realistic though.
  2. Same here , my box is at the post office waiting with a £17.90 charge. Well that's about $110 ish in total now. Most expensive game i have ever purchased by some way.
  3. that would be the ultimate without a doubt but BF has stated many times there reluctant to go down this development path. IIRC it was much to do with the resources required and taking focus away from there core products which they have an endless list of things that the would still like to do to it. If you look at the Combat Missions Campaigns threads from Hunter it does give some insight into the potential issues. Its unfortunate really , it would be something special but at least we have a product like Combat Mission and that in itself is head an shoulders above any competitor IMO.
  4. definitely armour cover arcs too ... and getting the heavy weapons to shoot only. oh and as mentioned above, dont delete the dead trooper from the squad weapon list , we need some indication of attrition.
  5. Additional support for campaigns. Things like complete tally of all units + reinforcements across the campaign in between battles so you can see the effect of your battle losses. Terrain stays destroyed if using same map. Some sort of campaign ongoing map showing progress. Anything to help create continuity and the feel of something larger than a single battle itself i guess although i am unsure what is required to be honest.
  6. Another one here that finds foxholes difficult but to the point that i just don't use them.
  7. Surprised the Total War series has not ventured into this arena. The Napoleonic games were better than any i have encountered in that genre before. What they do they do damn well IMO.
  8. Thanks for the posts. As often happens with these issues someone with more time and intelligence (not that difficult) than myself tend feedback on these things first Good to know its on the fix list. Cheers.
  9. Well that was interesting... QB Assault Battle Size Tiny larger hilly map (biggest i could find) 150% to Allies as attacker US purchase manually (armoured company with vehicles) (2500 ish points to play with IIRC) Germans auto purchase 1 hour. Plan is to use my mobility on a large map to execute the perfect assault. 30 mins getting into position, creeping up unseen then hiding. Spotted 5 + fox holes 10 min barrage 10 min assault ... wait a min nobody is shooting yet , maybe its one of them dont shoot back until they are within 25m AI plans. Ok im in the foxholes , no germans , hit ceasefire. Oh the AI just purchased fox holes then ... that was a waste of 50 mins .... no german kills reported, no german icons on map, 8 friendly fire casualties ... not so perfect assault plan then.
  10. Hi, east coast Scotland, still waiting for box too.
  11. Russian front is boring IMO , western front for me all the way.
  12. Cool at least its registered Armour cover (or light / heavy) arcs get my vote certainly.
  13. You can select units by drawing a box CTRL + right or left click (cant remember).
  14. wow that's scarily complicated. Its a wonder it was ever on target at all with so many variables.
  15. LOL have posted about this several times already , best Campaign to date ! sheer genius. Love the ability to make decisions , love the close attention to the Core units and resulting importance of losses. Please add more support for this sort of campaign BF , its the way Campaigns should be IMO. Playing a battle has its place but then I always have that " is that it ? " feeling by the end of it. Need as much continuity as possible between battles in a campaign and anything that can help build that affinity between the player and the troops. BF did mention a while back they are softening to the idea of adding limited experience gains over applicable time periods too.
  16. i agree with that , so many great moments are missed / unexplained in real time. I do tend to play smaller battles in RT but most of the time wish i hadnt.
  17. Sorry , i thought you were talking about indirect fire from 88 flaks ? Tried a test map last night , 4000m long with some 88s behind a hill. Could not get indirect fire to work via spotter or the unit itself. Are you saying this is possible ? 150mm inf guns work fine using spotter and a radio link.
  18. wow what a campaign , finished it last night , starting again tonight
  19. Im enjoying the continuity of the core units from battle to battle during a Campaign , just seeing the same troops , the squads attrition and ongoing kill stats in great. "Devils' Decent" Campaign (downloadable from the repository) so far is the best example of this. The more continuity between battles the better , really hope BF can spent time developing this even more in future.
  20. yeah have played a few QBs recently , its a good option when i dont get the time to play a full battle or Campaigns. Will try the suggested formations thanks for the tip. Tend to find its very easy to beat the AI when defending , AI tend to have tiny amounts of Infantry in every case when you allow them to pick.
  21. RAFF is a cracking wee campaign , really enjoyed it thanks As posted before i would lobby for additional continuity between battles in a campaign. Steve did say he softened to the idea of experience gains etc where applicable. Im sure there are lots of other thinks that can be done too. (i understand this is a cmx2 engine issue not a campaign design one).
  22. Yip its a great product Phil. I find you really have to playTurned Based to see much of the detail , figure out what just happened. I am really enjoying using the TAB key to follow infantry in any mode , its great through wooded areas
