  1. I'm going to side with Skellen. I would like to see a campaign, where you need to keep your battalion (or whatever) in good shape, and your units get promoted (or even go from green to vet), or just some sense of continuity. I am a close combat vet, and the campaign there, although not very well done, gave me something interesting to do between HvsH fights. In close combat, you had to rest units periodically, could upgrade a units weapons, and keep the good crew, or men. it even tracked individual soldier, and i could see at the end of the war who had been with me from the start.

    food for thought.

  2. "Ahh, but others do care about other fronts (eg I prefer Eastern Front)."

I would consider the East Front to be a part of the greater ETO, and would like it encompassed. I just meant that pacific theatres, and later era conflicts do not hold the same interest. I dont want to step on toes, but i think something Korea-ish could easily be modded, so probably does not need a title of its own.

sorry for not being more clear, but, i think everything from Poland, to the last days in Berlin should be covered. If 'zee german's' were there, lets see it. East Front is critical.

I don't know if this has been said before, but i would like to see some form of campaign, possibly following a unit or battalion through its war history. I doubt i will get bored just playing isolated battles, but it lacks a sense of continuity.

  3. I'm pretty new here, so my opinion probably doesn't carry much weight, but i'd like to see this kept in europe. this is where all the best action occured IMHO. everything else was merely a side-show. i don't care about the pacific, or korea. there i said it. i would like to see a better implementation of air support though. the few times i've used it, it has been random, and i'm not sure how helpful given the cost.

  4. Maybe someone could put up a link to some good cmak mods. i just tried another one for a tiger with zimmerit. i think the tiger has some camo scheme now, but no zimmerit.

can anyone recommend a few good mods? i saw one for improved sky that looked nice, and loads of improved tanks and such.

    thanks guys.

  5. good tip john!

i like to take a real close look at bulldozers and tracked construction vehicles when i get the chance. it shows you exactly how mud collects on tracks. spash patterns and such.

a nice diorama also really adds to a finished project.

sorry, no pics. i live in another country now, and all my models are back at home.

  6. even though i cant see it, here are some good tips.

    1. what rleete says is true. i invested in a number of stencil kits, and even made some of my own. i stopped using the slide off decals along time ago. just no way to make em' look any good.

    2. i am a big fan of link treads. the kind that come in individual links. takes a hell of a long time to make, but the results can be truly spectacular, because you can control the way they 'hang' on the tank.

    3. weathering. washing and drybrushing bring out all the little details, and make it a true work of art. mix some rubbing alcohol with progressively darker paints, and use liberally. the rubbing alcohol drys in such a way as to not leave the paint blotchy. drybrish with light colors, ending with an offwhite, but dont over do it, and use a nice wide fan drush. there is a great product available called cellu-clay, when u mix it with water it looks like mud, and is easy to paint when dry...looks great as mud in the treads, and built up on the undercarrige.

anyway, there are tons of other forums for this.

  7. Here is a silly question!

I found some vehicle, and small arms mods...a bunch of bmp files. i put them in the game\bmp direrctory, but i failed to see any change in the game. Are these type of things backward compatible with CMBB/BO? Or do i need something stated specifically for CMAK?

    want more green. getting depressed.

  8. i was just trying to add to the thread, put a word in for the canadians, as i have alot of freinds either in the service now, or used to be. not quite sure why you have used this as an excuse to belittle me, but you are obviously a very learned man, and it seems beneath you. it was not my intention to incur your wrath, but you obviously think im some kind of idiot. this is the internet, and as you know, arguing here is just about the most pointless exercise known to man. a sorry would be nice, but if not, well, there is no recourse.

    have a nice day dorosh.

  9. Here are some things i know.

Ever since the the battle of vimmy ridge, the germans were afraid of Canadian infantry. We kicked them out of one the most built up defensive points on the western front in one night, and in months of fighting before that, no one could.

Although the Canadian army is under equiped, and under financed, we have some of the best trained, toughest, and bravest soldiers.

When i play CMAK, I usually choose the germans, because they had the best boots, and coolest uniforms. Hugo Boss designed all the uniforms for the German armed forces.

  10. thats pretty good. one of those bastards took out my tiget this morning. i was not impressed. first it took out my 75 AT gun, then i backed up the tiger to shoot at the M10 (wolverine?) and it just put one right through my armour...end of story. i think he still had a sherman too, but i just quit out of frustration/suprise (SP game, i wouldnt do that to another human). some crack head in a another sherman took out my pzr IV in a similar fashion in the previous toss up too. it seems covering arcs really are important. the n key for next target is pretty handy as well. i suffer from the mental problem of premature tank ejaculation. i always rush them in too quick. i have been fighting this for many years, and am getting better, but it flares up now and then. patience and timing will win the day, my young jedi. and covering arcs will keep your idiot tank crews from being influenced by the dark side.

  11. that would be fun, mr tooz.

if that dont work, ill give you my work email. or, you could come to beijing. i dont know off hand where jiangsu is, but im sure i could ask just about anyone. ya, i havnt had any multi player yet, but i think im just about ready. there is the holiday in oct, so i think the chances are high, that someones battalion will come under fire.

by the way, BigMik, thats a quote from wrath of khan, not mody dick! although they may have stolen it from the book. ;)
