  1. Not what I was told by your "friends" CT, maybe you should be more careful in what you say to whom in private. But you keep with the story about the Invision crash. I am sure someone believes it. But in retrospect, I recant partially. It appears you are more mature than Kuni. Well actually, you ARE acting YOUR age. Is it possible Kuni is just defective? Not sure it matters to me though. As for me leaving, hmm if you want to count post traffic (if you are really that bored), you might have noticed how little I post here any more. And I even post less than this on several other forums that has lost their worth to me. But even I get bored occasionally.
  2. Nice reply from a teenager, but what makes me wonder, is why does Kuni sound as immature as you? Your arbitrary deletion of your two SC forums (anyone actually NOT aware that Comrade Trapp arbitrarily deleted his forum on both occasions out of the blue?), was likely the best thing you could have done for me CT, it gave me an opening to open mine. My decision to convert it into a site not specifically obsessed with wargaming or one specific wargame following the crap of 2004, has also allowed it to be more interesting to more types of people. When SC2 arrives, I will no doubt be discussing it, but it won't be the sole focus of my existence, nor the only reason for existence of my forum. Meanwhile, your tired little mob, will no doubt have nothing better to do, than stroke each other's egos, while you do nothing but play a single game design into oblivion. You're welcome to that life it if spins your prop.
  3. With any luck, it will be released the same day you get several large nasty bills in the mail. It will be right before you start a large new project at work. And your vacation will have just ended Sorry if that sounds cruel, but look at it from my perspective. I have the entire Panzer Campaigns series as well as the entire Squad Battles series looking at my wallet. All great games for a great price. As much as I want SC2 (and I want it as much as you do), there is no shortage of good games to buy if you need a fix hehe. It's just no longer worth whining over a specific title daily, when the market has plenty of good targets. Oh and remember, our hobby is in decline (what stupid incredible crap).
  4. Having trouble not laughing here, not succeeding well. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahah The truth can be a cruel shock.
  5. Contrary to popular opinion... Patience isn't a virtue, its a skill. Hey Hubert, I have my hands sort of full right now, so take your time If you can have the game ready for next Christmas season, that will suit me Doubt that will make the others happy, but hmm, I don't care hehe Why not take the whole summer off if possible. Relax the brain cells, and get in some side projects you might have been thinking of doing. I bet you are fairly tired by now eh.
  6. Hmm, and you think anyone thinks any more of you than they do of me? Interesting notion. Oh well carry on indulging your sig line perrogatives. You only add to my fame. This assumes of course, that anyone draws the connection between the accounts.
  7. Not lost, not frustrated, not even annoyed. Currently building my John Tiller collection and the second HC's game hits the market it gets line cutting privileges. It's not like he's making Combat Leader or ASLRB2 eh Kuni, do you actually like me that much I am worth stealing your sig line space over it? 8. God this is too painful to watch. Where are all the veterans? Is NOOOOOO one going to field a modestly decent response to Wilhelmshaven? Wil first off the rulebook is a clear must. You must have elected to jump right into the game. Easy mistake, as the interface is deceptively straightforward. Second,,there is also a Strategy Guide for the game, unofficial item written by one of the old crowd. http://www.ww2n.com/schq/ Consider it a must read. One detail that must have eluded you. A lot of game functions are only accessed by selecting the unit, then right clicking to get a small sub menu. Transports are not units. You transport a unit by being beside a port at the start of a move. Right click on the unit, select transport, purchase the option and the unit transforms into a transport. You have not bought a transport, your unit became the transport. When you unload the unit, the transport is removed. Thus, you never retain transports. Units become reduced in readiness the longer they are at sea. So make plans to not remain at sea long. Also, landing on a hostile shore can incur a random amount of landing casualties. Plus, while in transport mode, your unit is very vulnerable, so make plans to protect them from hostile attack. The key to supply are HQ units. Learn to use them, as your chances of winning are determined by them. Landing on an enemy shore is a good way to go out of supply. And a port of inland city will not make any real difference if you didn't bring a HQ unit. A dozen units and no HQ is a gift to your opponent.
  9. "Funny thing is you were close to getting banned yourself for advertising for Matrixgames. Then you thought the moderators sucked. Now you write letters to congratulate them." I beleive they were concerned about my at the time over enthusiastic link inclusion in my posts Kuni. You of course knew that, yet you post it like it happened yesterday. Nice bit of clever misinformation. The fact that I have not been on good terms with the Matrix Games forums tends to make your old news item rather silly don't you think? I have expressed opinions for and against many people in the past. It's called an opinion of course, and I am also free to modify alter or completely reverse it as I see fit. It is after all MY opinion after all.
  10. I know this will rattle at least one chain, but it has to be said. Mr Cater, your game is well liked by a great deal more than the membership of the Battlefront forum community. SC is routinely placed at the head of the line by me, in as many places as I find myself. I have made it abundantly clear, that your game's interface is the way it should be done. And I have said it often and repeatedly in places like Matrix Games forums, Wargamer, Warfare HQ, my own forums and every other location I find myself. When people say what they say about your game, they are not just saying it here. I just want you to know that, and know, that the sum total of opinion of your game, is not limited to just here at Battlefront. While Battlefront is the logical place to discuss your game, not all choose to limit themselves to supporting it here. Many have said that your game "merely looks like (insert older name game here)". But I have seen all those other games. And yours did it better. I look forward to your SC2 and you can bet it will be trotted out as the game to beat for a good number of other competing designs out there in the world of wargaming. I'll be waiting for it's completion, regardless of expected estimated date of arrival. And I don't require it to do everything up to and including cure world hunger and solve the unified field theory
  11. Think of this forum as someone's home. Should you be allowed to pick fights here? Should you be allowed to use foul language here? Should you be allowed to conduct illegal activities here? Should you be allowed to offend the hosts friends here? We have freedom of speech both in Canada and in the US, but that is normally conducted out on the street eh, not inside my home. I would not allow any of the above, why should any private or commercial forum be required to do it? This isn't the street, it's someone's place.
  12. Do you honestly think I have nothing better to do, than come onto forums ONLY to be contrary? Do you honestly think your unclever permutations of a person's name actually make you look worthy of having anything else you might say get taken seriously? Considering all that I have read in the past, about the cheating scandals, about all the childish name calling spats between these oh so important leagues and their players, why would you expect me to waste one minute of my time with them. You can deride me all you wish, but I get a better grade of game through being both sides, than I likely would in your leagues. At least I know I am not cheating.
  13. CT, I have lost a lot MORE "friends" over at Matrix Games, than I think you insular types will actually ever know. No don't pity me, I'm in no need. Low blow?, you guys would actually get a better education of what "rough talk" is, if you left this little forum more often. I dare say, most of you guys wouldn't even get noticed let alone cause distress outside of Battlefront. But that's just my view. Oh, I talk about what I talk about pretty much as often as I do for what reasons I deem important at the time. It has nothing at all to do with any percieved ablity to retain details on any of your parts. People call others "friend" rather casually I have learned. But CT, you're still young, you have lots of life to live before you have to actually worry about any of your actions, so don't sweat it to much. I can count the people I actually WANT to call me friend, on the fingers of my hands. After 42 years, the number is still reasonably small. That's because REAL friends are special. You can meet hundreds of people online though. You can chat them up and get to feel comfortable. But even after knowing a person for a good long time, you have to be cautious who you term "friend". Because you can really only count on a person to be a genuine friend at very extremely rare intervals. I know many of you here. You're all "acquaintances". And I am not your friend.
  14. It's interesting how a small group of fanatics can be deemed such a large mob. Sorry SC faithful, I don't do smack, that's a Rambo trick. Look what it got him. People don't like what I say, I say that is unfortunate, but the truth usually sucks when it doesn't savvy with the delusions. What have I contributed to SC, hmm go read the SC Strategy Guide, my name's in the credits. I suppose that could be adjusted if the author wanted though. I would hope he wasn't that petty. You don't like that I comment that ole Rambo got banned and he can't defend himself. Well all I can say, is if he was half the awesome individual you want him to be, he would not be banned right now and in a quandry about an inability to defend himself. Sort of like me, at Matrix Games right now, and unable to do anything to respond to whatever might be spoken of about me. Although, in my case, I am not losing much, so I guess I will just not fret over it. And Curry I don't give a damn if you don't like me using me as an example. Get over it. Not my problem if my name is known everywhere and it's Curry who? the second you leave Battlefront. I sing the praise of the SC game wherever I discuss grand strategy wargaming. I don't think HC is overly worried that I might get in a snit if I was booted from the BF forums. I am hardly going to take it out on his game. As for people rallying to my defense, I am tired of people rallying to my defense. I can defend my own actions thank you very much. You all don't like it that I am not some loyal SC fanboy of your small little community inside this one forum. And it IS a small little community. Stop inflating your worth. And it pisses off you small band of fanatics. Not my problem. This game is not about you guys. Nor are you intrinsically vital. Your assistance is what you make it. And frankly, no matter how clever "sounding" you guys come off in the occasional post, the truth of the matter is, people only remember the lunatic threads and posts. And THAT'S why Rambo is not here to cover his butt.
  15. Well while we are on the subject, I can't even begin to count all the people that might enjoy seeing you on the outside looking in Kuni. But your opinion of me notwithstanding, it doesn't alter the fact, that Rambo got what he deserved. And maybe others will get what they deserve too. I emailed Madmatt and congradulated him on his decision, and told him he could boot me too the second I warranted it. If it makes things seem "slow" at BF, so be it. I have had more than enough moronic behaviour on more than enough wargaming forums. I am sure that is not an isolated view.
  16. Hmm lets see I was the "heart and soul" of the Matrix Games Steel Panthers community for years, but if you piss off enough people it counts for squat. I created the Matrix Heroes sub forum, but that was not enough to protect me from "nasties" and my need to respond to them and basically if you piss off enough people your past deeds count for squat. I helped create Mega Campaign Screaming Eagles for Steel Panthers and I have been giving glowing praise from no less than Wild Bill Wilder himself, but if you piss off enough people, it all counts for squat. Rambo is gone because he pissed off enough people, and nothing he has done in the past for SC is worth squat if he tries hard enough. If he is allowed back, all that it will do, is make me lose all respect for Madmatt. Not that he needs my respect. Rambo was a stupid loud offensive fool just as much as he was anything else. And being a legend didn't do me squat, and clearly it wasn't worth squat to him. And Christ doesn't suffer idiots.
  17. Gotta be back bacon if you want the flavour to be right Argue with idiots, and you have an idiotic argument. Yeah that about sums it up right.
  18. "You need to get out of the house and play in the yard." I haven't "played in the yard" for over 30 years Kuni. Only the totally obtuse would suggest that solo is socialising, so the question is, why would you think that? Or is it merely convenient to selectively quote snippets of a post so that your comments look like they possess any merit? Socialising implies people are present. I would assume you were competent enough to understand that without the comment being unduly forced. "But playing against yourself sure is not socialising and if I ever start doing that to "study the time-period" I would take some time to seriously think about my situation in life." I really think it's to late to take your life seriously Kuni, you missed that chance a long ways back. And as for playing in the yard, I actually hope you are not left untended.
  19. "2) Timer is a built in library call in 99% of computer languages, nothing new son." Not relevant, the game doesn't need it. "Timer has been prayed for by the whole TCP/IP community for ever and you think this just some extravaganza???" Care to even give me a brief list of names? Or is it possible you are only referring to a select band of individuals more akin to a loud noisy wheel? "You gotta be a real loser, I mean who else plays SC against himself" I prefer hotseat against a neighbour routinely, but I find myself to be a fine enough challenge. Solo functionality has always been a hallmark of wargame ala board games for years... were you not aware of that? People have gotten so convinced they need an AI, they have actually conned themselves into thinking that solo against themselves is not an option. I highly doubt I would enjoy SC against most of the leagues as much as I would against a local or myself. But then I play the game partly to study the time period, but partly for the social event. Hate to break it to you, but playing you TCP/IP doesn't count as socialising. Timer offers me nothing, because is brings nothing important to the game. It's a waste of designer time. I would rather HC just finished the game and left out frivolous extraneous frills to meet the needs of a handful of forum devotees.
  20. So you want HC to invent some timer mechanism for his game on the basis of one opponent that makes you wait for a turn? Wouldn't it be easier to dump that opponent? Wouldn't it be easier for the community to dump that opponent even if that opponent supposedly has some sort of "standing" in the community? What next? Why don't we ask him for speach recognition so we don't have to use a mouse to input commands? There has to be a limit to what the guy puts in his game, or you guys will end up discussing what to put in the game all next year and into the next. He just might get it finished by 2007 if he's really lucky. SC had a few design oversights that might have been adjusted. They weren't bugs, they were just choices that might have been remedied. Hindsight being what it is, SC2 will be able to benefit from what he learned from SC1. But if the plan is to listen to each of these extreme end of necessity requests, I plan to play SC1 for a further year after SC2 is released, and just wait out the inevitable bug clear up that all games have to deal with in some small way, while he cleans up the mess all these dallyings will create. SC2 should have just been a much cleaned up, enhanced SC1 with some new options added in from benefit of hindsight. The more he makes SC2 a totally new game, the more likely it will have no real connection with SC1. I AM willing to just stick with SC1 if it turns out that it is actually closer to the game I want than SC2 with too many silly bells and whistles. Not that HC's future is riding on whether I buy SC2 or not. But it might not be an isolated view too.
  21. You actually think Hubert should stop clearing bugs and gameplay issues and release it so you can have some fun for christmas? Come on Les look around you. Zapp and Terif and many more are still discussing all the bugs in sc 1 2 years later!!! If you only play the AI I guess this does'nt matter but for everyone else it sure as hell does. </font>
  22. What I am not worth a real taunt a decent insult I only merit that marked down K-Mart grade crap now? Or was that your best?
  23. Waltero, I think they have several medicinal options out there for attention challenged persons Like the guys have said, surely there has to be something gripping you could do whilst awaiting your turn. One nice thing about SC is it is such a nice game from a system requirements point of view. Maybe you could invest a few bucks on a used system, and play more than one game of SC at the same time heheh. Do you have this problem in other games/activities?
  24. Simple. Start game. Start hotseat mode. Play both sides yourself with FOW on. No undo move of course. Makes the game really enjoyable, and you can play as fast as you can think. Basically what many wargamers have done with board games for decades, but with the convenience of it being on a computer (and not on a table eating up space).
