  1. Well I usually can find opponents at all hours of the day thanks to the worldwide appeal these games offer. So I don't often play againt the AI all that much. But if and when I do, I typically give them the defending side and I attack. I cannot say that the AI is a dissappointment in this game given the complexity of it and the budget that the battlefront guys had to work with and the niche market these games appeal to. All in all I would say they did an excellent job.
  2. Welcome to Combat Mission Yskonyn. You will most definitely enjoy the ganes. I know I do.
  3. You guys have to bear with Wolfie sometimes. He is one of our younger members. He is a great kid and plays well but he has never been known for his way with words.
  4. Where are you at in Japan? I am trying to come over there in the Spring.
  5. Iron_Duke, Well in all honesty we had to cut the scenario short because I had to get some sleep before work. If I recall correctly I had about 28 PZs left and he had a couple dozen Stuarts still hanging around. He really started to mess me up when he suprised me with tanks coming over a flanking hill. I was trying to make a run for the flags and he had side shots on all my tanks. Needless to say even the mighty PZIVG couldnt withstand that type of punishment. So my whole first wave was taken out pretty quickly. After that I was stuck in a defensive position trying to hold him off from 3 sides. The Stuarts dont stand a chance with a frotal assualt but if you get too cocky like I did and expose your sides they can and will take you out. Well that and he disabled something like 9 of my Panzers with gun hits. They were still mobile but they couldnt fire their main cannon. So with those casualties I had about 28 Panzers that were unscathed. Sorry I couldn't give you a better review of the scenario. I am still somewhat new to the CM series so I sometimes make stupid mistakes like the one posted above. All in all I would whole heartedly recommend this scenario to anyone who like armor battles. It was simply amazing seeing 30+ Panzers firing at a time. There were so many tanks out there that even when you missed one tank there was a chance of hitting another. This was especially true with the PZIVD with their short barrels. Hope my comments help you out a bit. I will definitely be looking for anything else you put out there. Thanks again Embark
  6. Sorry about the wait Iron_Duke. Ok here we go... TunnelRat and I played through the scenario the last few days. Here are a few of my observations. The Map is very nice. I know I said that before but it bears repeating. It's laid out well and pleasing to the eye. The Americans have a good setup and with the right amount of patience and luck they can defeat the Germans. *********SPOILER ALERT*********************** The only thing I never figured out was where to put the spotter the Germans have. He was in the corner of the map and I couldn't seem to get him moved into position. Maybe this is an oversight on my part but it was very difficult to try to get the halftrack he has to move at all. I laid waste to every Stuart I saw untill the Americans started attacking from 3 directions. Then it was difficult for me to choose which way to attack first. There were just so many tanks it boggled my mind. He had an excellant flank shot whenever I made it around the ridge trying to get towards the flags. With his Stuarts hull down it was hard for me to hit him. ****************End Spoiler*********************** The only thing I can think of that might help balance things out a bit is to make some of the american tankers regular or veteran. If the Germans use their heads and not underestimate the enemy like I did they shouldn't have too much of a problem winning the map. The PZIVG totally outclasses the Stuart tanks. But this is an excellant scenario that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys armor at all. GREAT JOB Iron_Duke!!! Thanks for making this for us.
  7. Well TunnelRat and I started the scenario tonight. I am German he is American. 1st Impressions.... Ok I will start with the map. It's incredible! I don't know if you went for any historical accuracy here but it looks very nice. Very detailed with a nice use of trees and crossing points in the river. The allies have a good LOS if they setup in the right places and the axis can somewhat accurately predict where the general movement of the allies is going to be. Next on to the play balancing. Keep in mind these are just my first observations. It seems to me that the Americans are a bit outclassed here. I have gone through about 10 turns so far here and I have killed 7 or 8 Stuarts and lost only one armored car. I can see that all the Allies are green where as the Germans are veteren units. The PZIVG seems to dominate the lightly armored stuarts a bit too much. There was one turn where one PZIVG took out 4 Stuarts. I will finish out the game tomorrow and let you know if maybe my first observations are a bit off. I just figured you might want to know what I was thinking so far.
  8. Heh you guys should see all the people we have turned onto this game. Started out with 4 and now we are up to like 9 or 10. Just from talking to old friends who ask what we are up to these days. We have our own TeamSpeak server up and running but its just a temporary one I run off my computer. TunnelRat and his dad Vulcan rented a 20 man server but it won't be ready untill tomorrow. Once we got the login information and all that I will let you all know the address so you can hop in and say hello.
  9. Downloaded it. I will try it out later on tonight and post some feedback tomorrow if I get finished with it.
  10. Yeah TS is a 3rd Party Program that runs in the background. You can run a server off your comp and connect to it with the client. Then just have all your buddies connect to your server.
  11. me thinks me thread got hijacked :-P I have seen the types that post in the Peng thread. They seem to me to be in the same class as the Crusty Old Doomsayer whom can be found thoroughly sauced at our local dive bar pretty much any time after 6am. Sure he takes brakes to panhandle and hold out his signs proclaiming "THE APOCOLYPSE IS COMING" and "THE END IS NEAR". But other than that he is as predictable as guessing what the weather is going to be like in the Mojave Desert in the summertime. [ September 22, 2004, 05:48 PM: Message edited by: Embark ]
  12. guess no one likes me :-( No in all seriousness I figured this just got buried because not many have looked at it. Bumpity Bumperoo
  13. I just thought I would tell you all an interesting thing that has happened in the past couple of days. I play another game called World War II Online. When we play we use TeamSpeak to communicate. There is one server for all the allied players and one server for all the Axis players. So there are usually a little over a hundred people on each server. Well instead of us having to type to communicate while playing CMAK, we figured why not use the TeamSpeak server to talk to each other. While we have been in our room on the server talking to each other, there have been people who dropped by to say hey. Once they hear us swearing at each other and hooting and hollering about the last turn or whatnot. They ask what the hell is going on. So time and time again we have explained to these folks what a great game CMAK is and how much fun we have playing it. In fact I know of at least 4 people who now plan on purchasing the game so they can join in on the mayham. 4 new players might not seem like much but when those four tell their buddies and so on and so on it starts to add up. Hopefully we can continue to spread the word and get this out to even more people.
  14. I am somewhat new to CMAK. I have had the game for a couple of months but not had the opportunity to play it all that much. Well now that I know a friend of mine has the game as well. We have been playing TCP/IP games for the last couple of days. Well in most the games we play he manages to wax me pretty badly. I mean I get in some good shots but he is the victor for the most part. So this leads me to the topic of this post. Is there anyone out there that knows of some good resources on tank and infantry tactics. Hell I need advice on how to effectively use almost every piece of gear. Don't get me wrong I know all the basic stuff. It's just knowing exactly where to put that ATG or how to effectively flank the enemy and put in those devistating shots. That is the stuff I am looking for. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks Ben
  15. Thanks for the help guys. Turns out I wont be able to try it out as soon as I had anticipated. It seems a Sherman found my Halftrack and decided to make it explode. We have Fog of War on extreme and I had no idea he was that close. It was kind of funny actually. Because the Halftrack spotted the Tank and just kind of sat there for about 3 seconds. Then the Sherman opens up with the Machine gun. So the Half Track starts to fire back with his. I could almost see the fear in the passengers eyes when the big turret started turning towards him..2 seconds later BOOM!!!!!!! Little Halftrack pieces everywhere. Poor guys never had a chance..
