  1. I just read that the Scenario Depot is gone. A victim of Web Hosting vermin. The Depot made a great game and hobby that much better. I hope it comes back soon. With you at the helm Admiral. Weaselboy
  2. Just wanted to drop a note to all the scenario designers and mod makers out there. Thank you for making CM a game that will always be on my computer. The time you put into maps, OB's, and detail to soldiers and vehicles shows a great sense of history, and a love of the subject. I'll be well entertained until the release of CM2 (probably past). I hope you do your modding goodness to that game as well. I have been remiss in my feedback to the designers, and plan to remedy that soon. Expect to see my name on the forums at the "Scenario Depot" and " Proving Grounds" giving you the ATTA BOY! Or... If one more Tiger shows up in the last three turns...! If you haven't downloaded any of these excellent scenarios or armor mods yet, you're missing half the game. Take the time to see the great work these guys have done.(Just look at some the pics on this forum.) WEASELBOY
  3. Yeah that worked. I waited a long time, but not long enough. Thanks again Wicky. Weaselboy
  4. Thanks Wicky. Lets see. I'll tell ya how it goes. weaselboy
  5. I just tried to load my old CMBB disk onto another computer and it locks up the program. I can get as far as the installer folder, but when I click on it that's when it locks up. I can hear the hard drive spooling and the disk drive spinning, but nothing happens. I've tried every angle to access the setup.exe, but no luck. Help me if you can guys. I want to download some of those great mods and scenarios. CMAK and CMBO are already on this computer. No problem. The disk is about 2 years old, but the CMBO disk is older then that. Any ideas? Thanks, Weaselboy
  6. My prayers are with you Matthew, and your family. This is perfect time of the year for a miracle. I beleive it will happen.Email on the way. God bless.
  7. Two, we're all whining for CMX2: just that the engine will cut its teeth on Vietnam. Frankly, WWII is getting a bit boring. [/QB]
  8. Before I start off on my wish list for CM2, I would like to comment on one of the thoughts in the first thread. I read a few posts about using "real time" in cm2. Whether this is a preference over UGO IGO or not, does not matter. It won't work. For one reason. AI. The machines we play our games on today have nowhere near the computing power to control a squad, much less a platoon or larger. Games like C&C ( which I play )simulate an intelligent AI by giving the computer an "edge". Usually this is in the form of LOTS more units, mines or booby-traps, prebuilt defenses, psychic artillery, etc, etc. In a game like C&C or Warcraft, this is fine. They are fantasy. But in an historical simulation like CM, micro management is the way you get your guys to do (generally) what you want. That is because we are trying to mimic REAL life. The time when you can tell a platoon leader to take his men and secure 'that house over yonder', and leave it to the AI to do it, is a long way off. 9. Thanks JASON! Your AAR's and pictures are excellent. I can't wait for the next post.I LOVE this stuff!
  10. Yup. You are right. Just after my run down the foxholes, my armor cleared the ridge and came into the AT guns sights. All but three of my tanks were taken care of in short order. I managed to pull a "minor" victory out of it all. I'm just saying that the overrun is another tactic to use when the situation is right. I did'nt see it work so well in CMBO and CMBB. I'm going to replay some scenarios ( CMBO,CMBB )to see if I just missed it.
  11. I was playing a game against the AI recently, and getting thumped at long range by AT guns and infantry, when I received a contingent of Italian armor reinforcements.( Possible SPOILER here). They entered on the left flank. The Brits were dug in very well, so I aim my tanks stright down the line of foxholes and sandbags and put them on FAST. I watched as the tanks rolled over the first foxhole, an ATR crew broke and ran, the second foxhole, squad crawled to safety while being shot to pieces, the third, almost a full squad surrendered! I was able to run the entire foxhole line this way. Now I have to tip my hat to BFC.I was able to do a classic armored overrun. Even mildly suppressed infantry when they find themselves in the same hole as a tank tend to rethink their positions. But I don't remember being able to do this in CMBB or CMBO. Possibly new to CMAK. I realize it will be more difficult against mid to late war infantry, when squad based AT weapons are more available. But Damn it was fun. It's one more thing to like about CM. Now if we can get out of the desert and into something green, I'd be a happy camper.
  12. Congrats Steiner! I'm fixin to do that myself next year. If I can keep her drunk that long. Or hit the lottery..... Oh I'm sure she'll still like me! Won't get married in a cool place like Beijing though. Probably some Civil War church, thats all thats in Virginia. Good Luck! Post some pictures! Happiness to you both!
  13. Yes,great suggestions. The seven you have here, are an excellent "base" to start with.( except number eight should be: use transport, tranport use roads, units get the HELL out of transport!). That may be more then one more suggestion, and I know it is, but I"m in full agreement with all your ideas. Excellent work SKELLEN
  14. I used the cloak of invisibility, and it worked! Super idea BOO! I could hear them talking about me, and I heard my boss say something about my commission check not being enough to buy a Happy Meal at Micky D's if I didn't get back to work. So I waited till they all left and I came out. But it was cool man!
  15. The AI is great (or okay) training for PBEM. Ain't nothing like a human opponent.I have my Brother hooked now. We plan to play some HOTSEAT scenarios to sharpen our skills. Then its off to find some PBEM opponents. Soon I will be a Jedi...or..similar.
  16. I try to look busy, but the green screen with the firing tank gives me away. They know that Ford does'nt have a BATTLEFRONT parts depot.
  17. Well...good enough. But I'll be watching your spelling, young man! </font>

  19. Sorry for the slow response, but I write these things at work, and theres always some customer with a petty problem that wants a part for his piece of crap car. Inbreds. Completely derails me. But now I'm home and can thank you properly GENERAL COLT. Just adjusting the experience points changes the way the AI moves and fires. Whole new game. Guess I gotta play all the scenarios again. Oh well... There goes my relationship with whats her name, the lady I live with. Can't wait to play the campaign OLESEN. Thanks all. Weasleboy
  20. Thanks everybody! And you're right SEANACHAI. I played alot of flight sims. Weaselboy was taken so I changed a letter.I dun plum fergot it waz spelt wrong. That was my call sign. Not a good story, but an ok excuse I hope. Also Weaselboy was taken as a member name. [ August 29, 2004, 09:01 AM: Message edited by: weasleboy ]
  21. Thanks for the quick reply GENERAL. I'll start toying with those numbers tonight.
  22. First off CM is the best squad level ( or any level )game I have played since ASL. The forum is GREAT! I'm sure there is a thread that answers my question in there somewere, but till I can find it ( I always get side tracked reading other good stuff )maybe y'all can help. One of the best things about CM is playing solo. But all scenarios are not created equal. The AI seems to do best with small to medium static defence, and that is due to the fine work of the scenario designer. So far in CMAK the solo game has improved A ton. Thanx BFC! Is there a way to balance a larger battle against the AI ? Also I would like to know about your favorite scenario vs AI. I have been aCMmulated. 23. Great scenarios! Can't wait to try em. But I'm having a little trouble with downloads. Could anyone help a rookie with a step by step procedure? Thanks. I must be doing something wrong.
