  1. I have a problem with the v1.11 patch. I recently purchased, installed, and activated the CMBN/CW bundle (Version 1.10) for my new MacBook Air (see below for my system details), because my old licenses were over a year old and had expired. Version 1.10 ran fine. When I tried to patch the new Version 1.10 up to version 1.11 before adding V2, v1.11 produced some odd labels, possibly from the underlying CMSF engine, e.g., a crewman in a Panther was labeled as armed with a Flogger. I tried downloading the v1.11 patch from three different websites, all with the same result. Please note I did not add any mods, which I am aware, can foul up the patching process. Moreover, attempting to overlay Ver2 on top of that patch was, not surprisingly, a failure. Attempting to launch it produced an unnumbered Error statement. I have filed tickets with the BFC tech support and customer support. Other than confirming that I did not add any mods, I have not received any further correspondence for a week. So, in case they are stumped, here are my questions: 1) Has anybody encountered the same problem? If so, is there a fix? As mentioned above, I have downloaded the v1.11 patch from three different websites, and all produced the identical problem. 2) My real aim is to have the latest version of CMBN/CW V2, is there an alternative way for achieving that goal and bypass the v1.11 patching process? My system details: Platform (PC/Mac): Macbook Air Operating System: 10.8.4 Video Card: Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB CPU: 2 GHz Intel Core i7 RAM: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 VRAM: 512 DirectX: not far as I know Anti-virus software: none Cheers, Prof Oz
  2. More smoke shells for on-board mortars, off-board artillery, and AFVs. My father who commanded an 81-mm mortar platoon in Normandy (2/117th, 30th Infantry Div) said they used WP in profusion. I certainly miss the smoke available in CM1. The ability of some infantry sections to throw out smoke is some compensation, but only . Please give 50-mm mortars to the Germans.
  3. Like PlatCmdr, I too found that, in "Mission 3: Battle Drill," the mortar team used small arms fire. It should indeed be possible to prevent the small arms fire, but I haven't figured out how to do so.
  4. I have it on excellent authority - from my father who lead an 81-mm mortar platoon in Normandy - that WP was a favored means of clearing Germans out of their defense positions, particularly in tree lines where tree bursts could occur.
  5. I agree with Womble. In the role of a company commander, I don't want to have to micromanage my individual AFVs or sections.
  6. 1) As the photos early in the thread show, digging-in was a well-practiced skill for the Germans and, for that matter, the Americans. My father, who lead a 81-mm mortar platoon in Normandy (117th Inf Rgt, 30th Inf Division) confirmed the importance of digging-in plus the inherent protective value of the bocage. The little folding shovels were there for more than digging latrines. 2) He also said that, while mortars were not accurate, they were popular for clearing tree lines, particularly by using WP smoke as a makeshift incendiary.
  7. 1) I second the idea of an instant or default 180-degree covered arc 2) In setting a covered arc manually, it would be useful to know the limits of its LOS, as in CM1. 3) Easier-to-see lines for the ordered movement paths of units. 4) I second the idea of an easier method for seeing which units are in command of an HQ
  8. I'm very interested in the impending WWII naval game, but might I also suggest that somebody put an 18th-19th century naval game on their T0-DO list. I still have a c.1976 copy of Avalon Hill's "Wooden Ships and Iron Men." With all the hyper surrounding "Master and Commander," there might be an increased market for such a game.
