  1. I agree wholeheartedly - when these despots do not afford their people any political expression, they instead ferment hatred towards Israel and the USA by supporting madras schools that are ripe breeding grounds for little Osamas.

The world is tolerating these dictatorships because of the oil - ergo we need to cut our dependence on oil and foster meaningful democratic and economic reforms in the middle east.

  2. Ireland pinged. Destroyed one French Corps and one French army. Two hexes from Paris. Navy beats a hasty retreat and hides. In line with schedule as planned of destroying two units per turn.

I am impressed with the speed of how Terif gets his rounds to you. Very professional like.

  3. Ireland being pinged. French corps killed. UK corps reduced to str 1. A killin we go! No AF presence intercepting us - gotta take Zapp's rule book on this one. But he is getting his delay for the axis so how much time do I have left to plunder the remaining countries before USSR comes into play? That's the critical point.

    Seigheil!

  4. Standard opening moves for Terif - pinged Ireland with carriers and BB. Polish AF slinked away to the north.

Germany decimates all Polish defenders except for remaining corps at 4 and air at 6. Denmark is pinged again. Transport appears to take Denmark the next turn. Atlantic is pinged again for 26 mpp by subs.

    Seigheil!

  5. Bid of 200 - UK 200, US 1000, and USSR 4000.

I open as the Axis. Northern Polish army decimated- other army brought to 2. Warsaw falls and the Warsaw garrison melted like butter. Denmark is pinged by cruisers. Polish air reduced to 7. Sometimes when I open this way, Poland surrenders by turn 1 and definitely by rd 2. Atlantic is pinged by subs - they are gonna die, might as well die fighting!

This is for fun and not on the SC league.

Let's see how the wehrmacht fares against the vaunted SC maestro.

  6. There is a measure of luck in SC as you are not sure of every outcome of battle as opposed to chess - lots of tactics in chess - overloading, diversion, pinning, discovered check, fork, sacrifice, skewer, etc.

In chess, you seek the greatest mobility and activity for your pieces. This enables you to quickly shift and concentrate your firepower and lots of tactical possibilities open up to you.

There are similarities and disimilarities between SC and chess for sure. One principle resonates true with both - that is concentration of force!

  7. Yes, quite a bit - you tend to plan ahead with your movements and anticipate counter-attacks. You really learn to concentrate your forces, use isolation, penetration, and how to use the principles of economy of force.

In chess, if it is a forcing combination, I have been able to see 15 moves deep. Garry Kasparov can go twenty moves deep in a very complicated position. But on average, for master strength players-GMs, calculating 6-10 moves deep is ordinary.

  8. Just my two cents worth of input. I have been playing chess for the past three decades and I have reached the senior master level, scalped GMs and IMs. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to make a decent living out of professional chess playing in the US!

In Europe, chess is very big and their players do make a decent income.

Hopefully, when I retire within two years (taking a very early- really early retirement), I can spend more time on the game again as I plan to make the Philippines my home base to do my travelling from (very cost effective since I know the language also!) I am tired of the rat race over here, more you make, more you spend (which does not equate happiness).

  9. I know people have said that beating the AI is easy even at expert level at plus two experience.

My challenge to you is to take on the AI as the axis at the same level without Italy!

Can you manage or just huff and puff again saying the AI is easy to beat?

  10. Dude,

It does not take three turns to take Poland. Your plunder on poland should get you an extra airfllet also with your income and then you would be ready to jump into lc by turn three if you are really concerned about the lc gambit.
