  1. I keep my spotters just behind my advancing infantry nearby a leader. When contact is made...combat is usually occurring btwn your infantry squads and the enemy's. Your spotter and leader are likely not getting shot at as long as they are just behind their line squads. From your position just behind your engaged line squads, you should be able to call in an effective area bombardment. Your spotter doesn't have to call fire into the enemy's exact position to be effective.
  2. If your infantry are in contact with the enemy, just move your FO behind your troops and call in fire. The enemy will fire your infantry instead of the FO so long as the FO isn't bunched in with line squads.
  3. Heh, I used to play Steel Panthers. I am sure some of you older grognards have played the WWII based game. The German armored car in Steel Panthers appeared to be firing its 20mm cannon one shot at a time. Of course, in CMAk it appears as a burst...so I got confused In any case, could a single 20mm AP cannon round take out some of the earlier light tanks?
  4. Just curious about the 20mm cannon the German scout cars used. When firing, does the cannon fire a burst of rounds or just one round at a time. In the game it sounds like it fires a burst of rounds, but I always had the impression it was one round at a time. Anyone know?
  5. Success.... I copied the Setup.exe to a backup drive after having failed at the main drive. Well, I ran it from the backup drive and I was able to install everything. I must admit, the challenge of trying to make CMAK work is as fun as playing the game itself. At last, a happy ending to my little dilemma.
  6. Yeah, I pretty much shut down all non-essentials, but I still get the freeze in the WinRar portion of the dl which is the BMPs. After so many freezes in the WinRar portion, I cancelled the install while in the midst of dling BMPs (WinRar). Doing so sent me to another screen where the ambient WAV files were downloaded. I have even, during a freeze in the WinRar portion, just let the comp freeze and waited 30 min just in case it was dling and I just did not know it. No luck, still missing the Wav files. I may be missing othe files but I havent played enough of the game yet to know.
  7. 1) Placed game cd in cd drive to install game and I get a 0x0000006 error dealing with the game's autorun.exe file. 2) I go ahead and copy/paste the setup file into my c:/ drive. I run the setup program for the game and I start installing. When I get to the WinRar portion of the installation, it starts to dl the BMPs. Part way thru the BMP installation the comp freezes and the comp must be rebooted. 3) After several attempts at running the setup, I cancelled the installation mid-way thru the WinRar portion of the installation. Doing so lead me thru several prompts that somehow completed the installation. By some miracle I am able to play the game but the only sounds I get are the ambient sounds. I sure could use some help getting the other Wav files into the game. I currently only have 9 WAV files. My comp specs AMD 2600+ 1.92 Ghz Nvidia GeForce FX5200 vers. 56.72/ 128 MB Vid Mem 512 MB RAM 80 gb HD PS- I have already gone thru the troubleshooting tips for installation
  8. Well, I purchased the game without realizing it had a lot of technical problems accompanying it. My problems started as soon as I put in the game cd. In anycase I have been able to install enough of the game to be able to play. The only problem is that in the game I can only hear ambient sounds. No cannon fire or anything else other than environment noise can be heard. Is it supposed to be like that? I checked my WAV folder and I have only 9 WAV files. Are there supposed to be more? If there are more, is there an alternate place to get the files since I can't install from the game CD. Thanks for any help.
