  1. I'm not sure why Iraq is an independant nation in SC, but I'd like to see British troops in Iraq at a start of war, and then a message come in 1941 saying something like "Iraq has rebelled" and then several partisans appearing in Iraq.
  2. ...Or you could just open up the War map, which does show the exact location of military units, cities, docks, and everything else on the real map.
  3. The "German Cross" was a symbol used by the German military during WWII. While at the same time countries like the US, Britain, Japan, etc. flew their own flags into battle. And it should be known that the swastika was originally a symbol of peace in India (and I think in Buddhism). While certain symbols are not shown ingame due to legal reasons (as With Clusters mentioned), I personally feel that it is wrong for Germany to try and master their realm by hiding the past in their attempts to create a semblance of a peaceful history (and by their, I mean government, not German citizens).
  4. An interesting idea, but very unrealistic. Such treaties where a large country would defend others didn't happen in the modern age until after WW2. I am of course speaking of the formation of the United Nations and NATO. In WW2 a country could do pretty much whatever they wanted without having to fear retribution from a coalition of powerful countries, and that's why Germany invaded Poland (nobody gave a rat's ass if Germany was violating the Versailles treaty because they didn't want to be the one to say stop and get their asses whooped).
  5. Liam, while I do also think that Destroyers should be available, I must say that what you stated is mere opinion, and at that is VERY far from the truth. Air superiority played a majorrole in WWII. If either Axis or Allies had air superiority than they could easily disrupt supply lines, intercept air transports, destroy tank columns, strafe concentrations of troops, and even bomb headquarters (like when Axis bombers bombed Patton's HQ in Africa). Both the Axis and the Allies faught very hard to take and maintain air superiority. If the Allies hadn't had air superiority for Operation Overlord, than Germany would've been able to easily strike back with their reserve tank units (but they were destroyed each time the tanks mobilized on roads, which were choke points, or fields, which were open areas and supsceptible to aircraft. As for the V1 and V2 rockets, you are again mistaken. The V1 was experimental, and paved the way for the V2. While the V2 may not have seemed a ferocious weapon, it was infact the ability to "reach out and touch someone" without having to risk men or machines. And I might add that the V2 probably would've been equiped with an atomic warhead had it not been for the brave efforts of commando teams to destroy "heavy water" stockpiles and manufacturing equipment. Hitler never was able to use, or complete, his atomic weapons. Imagine if the Allies were unsuccessful in hindering the atomic developments, and Germany would've been able to easily launch V2 rockets at London and do MUCH MUCH more damage. These rockets would've played a major role in the outcome of the war had they been loaded with their intended warheads.
  6. Listen pal. Because the game is still quite early in the development phase, a demo being released now would be full of bugs and could end up being far different from the actual release (things change quite often during development phases). So a demo could possibly hurt sales if people didn't like if it was glitchy or different from what they were epxecting. Capisci?
  7. Awwww, raven is trying to pretend that he is a historical wizz How cute. Maybe we should buy him his first historical book? After all, he is interested in history Maybe then his arguments would carry more weight. Tap on the shoulder and thumbsup Raven </font>
  8. My example was much closer to the time frame relevant to Strategic Command.
  9. With Clusters, don't forget that Paris has a history of surrendering early in a fight. There was a time in WW2 when French artillery was raining hell on a German position, but then they surrendered. Why? Turns out they had run out of bread rations...
  10. I work on my PC. I've never had any of the problems that the "switched" people claim to have (blue screen of death?), and my programs rarely crash unless it's due to a scripting error of the program (a program not available to Mac at all). I guess the people that "switch" must've been doing something they probably shouldn't have and gotten a virus from somewhere.
  11. Exactly Roosevelt. This game is about tactical warfare, not political warfare. If a supreme commander says to have something done, than it's gonna get done. No matter what the consequences (just think of how big a risk D-Day was. But Eisenhower (wait, it was Ike wasn't it?) said go and they went).
  12. I'm not sure if it would work, but try getting Virtual PC software for Mac. Man...why would anyone get a mac is beyond me...I think I'd kick it if my games didn't work on it. And then I'd throw it in a fire...and then I'd smash it with a sledge hammer...and then I'd go get a PC.
  13. It would have to be less than that. Mainly because it usually only takes two turns (or one) to capture a capital and defeat that nation. For example, think about the Low Countries. If Germany plays their moves right, they can take the Low Countries in one turn. But suppose they didn't, and they were facing certain defeat. Wouldn't it be good to be able to evacuate the corps on the capital, send it accross the channel to London, unload it and be able to keep it? Then I just put either a french army or a corps on the capital. It's not realistic to have units that were moved tactically to be disbanded after their country was captured even if the unit is a safe distance away.
  14. *Sigh* Guys, you're missing the point. In SC you have the option as to where you move your forces. People DO move their forces to other countries ingame, so why should they be disbanded after that country is captured, even if those troops are a safe distance away? Not only that, but your example of troops fighting for other countries DID HAPPEN. For example, German troops defended Italy. Canadian troops weren't defending their homeland when they attacked Juno beach. US Fighter Pilots flew for both Britain, AND China. D'uhhhhh.... Some of you guys seem to be ignoring facts and fabricating your own opinions as to the behavior of a country's military.
