I've been experimenting with a 'night vision mode', to complement Ramblers mod, since "A day at the Beach'.
I'm still not happy with it, but it's getting there...

Windmills are present in FB's archives but not available in the editor despite Holland being depicted as one of the locations. Here is a way to enable windmills...
It's triggered by a "bogus" bitmap. Simply add the bogus bitmap to your Z folder. I included a snow roof too.
The windmill will appear in the editor as the last (bottom right) independent 4 story commercial building.
The windmill works exactly as in CMBN, but it's snowbox is square. So in deep snow conditions the snowbox around the bottom floor looks a bit wonky.

This discovery leads me to ask what else can be enabled by bogus bitmaps...? There is a lot of content in the brz files of FB that don't appear in game like various others bridges e.g canal bridges.

Yep! @37mm. Another good one! @General Jack Ripper SLIM's was cool too. Thanks, fellas.
You know I am to the point where about 90% of my "TV" watching time is game plays/game movies on Youtube. What an amazing thing that some guy sitting on his comp a thousand miles away could be creating content that is more entertaining to me than multi-million dollar Hollywood crap. Must be why they are doing everything they can to destroy the amateurs ability to make a living on YouTube.

These mud houses are my take on the typical houses found in Afghanistan, made out of dried mud. I based this mod on the green zone of Helmand province, therefore they are perhaps less suitable for the more mountainous regions where stones are more prevalent. But they will probably work better than the stock buildings anyway. I suppose they could also work for the more rural areas of Syria or Iraq.
These mud houses are made to work alongside Kieme's CMSF in HD buildings. You can have both mods installed at the same time. The mud houses, because they are located in a directory whose name begins with the letter z, should replace some of the buildings made by Kieme. At first I only intended to replace a couple of buildings but ended up making more and more so that only two of Kieme's buildings are intact so to speak.
Finally, although they are modular buildings and can have any number of floors, they work best for single or two storey buildings obviously. Not sure you could stack mud that high anyway.

The opium poppies replace grain tiles.
There are two different textures included in the mod. The default one and another one with a more brownish/yellow colour that is found in late summer when crops are ripe.

Not much to say about these.

    TAGS :
In order to see the mods in your game, you need to add one or several of the mod tags that are linked to the textures.
    mudhouse
    mudwall
    poppies or poppiesyellow
    TEST MAP :
The mod also includes a small portion of an Helmand map I am working on, already set up with the mod tags so you can have a quick preview.
    INSTALL :
Details on how to install included in the readme inside the rar file. I have uploaded two versions of the pack, one with all the files tagged and one without tags. Install the mod tag version, it won't interfere with your game unless a scenario designer adds the tags in a mission. The other version without tags, you can just swap it in and out of your fold folder at your convenience.

Well, it does feature good graphics by default. You know, you can just load up the game and play it, instead of overloading your mod folder, which you have this infatuation with doing.

37mm got a reaction from Hetzi in CMSF1 scenarios & campaigns
For anybody interested I have many hundreds of scenarios & campaigns (apparently all will be playable in CMSF2).
I got rid of a bunch of duplicates/older versions & renamed a lot of them so they're easier to sort out...

... I estimate there's about 800 scenarios if you include the campaigns.

37mm got a reaction from MOS:96B2P in See "Hyena Road" especially if you love Canadian Army!
I've been watching a few decent war films recently... heck I never even watched 'The Pacific' til a few months back.
Hyena road was one of them, Jadotville (about the Irish... in the Congo!) was another. 'The long road home' about Iraq, 'Operation Red Sea' (The Chinese... in Somalia) & 'Caravan Hunters' (Soviets in Afghanistan).
    I'm about half-way through Kokoda (Upside-downers in a Jungle).
    I've enjoyed them all.
None of them are Zulu... but, then again, what is?
Either way, none of them had Superheroes, Superheroines or Super-mutants... a refreshing change from the usual fare.

One of the best CM videos I've ever seen. Terrific mods and filters, very well choreographed and 'filmed'. You have a gift!
BFC should send this to its DoD contacts. I'm tempted to reach out to contacts in the Philippines Armed Forces who recently went through all this in Marawi...
Tactically though, men who have gone to ground (pinned) inside hard cover, even flimsy mud brick shouldn't be so easy to kill off. (My usual hobby horse). But this is a game engine gripe, not a critique of your vid.

4:53 That was so nonchalant and badass. That's one of the coolest things I've seen in the game in a while.

You don't have half a TB's worth of CMSF Mods... you have ~15GB. You said that yourself in Feb'18.
You might have half a TB's worth of mods from other games... but that's another matter.

37mm got a reaction from Howler in Horrible frames. Getting frustrated.
I have to admit I'm seeing no effect whatsoever for low tree detail... the tree's always shake in the wind, no matter the setting or model quality. Even so, I too have it set on 'low'.... just in case.
I found that 'Best' 3d model quality only got you about an extra 100m on your bubble (on FAST Vsync) to ~420m@1080p. Although it did 'repair' most of the visual bubble on Half adaptive back to ~370m). It did this at the cost of a vast increase (sometimes an eight fold increase) in your "draw calls" & a consequent decrease to your fps rates.
As DeutschRitter, and now myself, advise the 'balanced' 3d Model quality is by far the most cost efficient setting. Although 'Improved' is also pretty cheap & (especially on half adaptive) increases your bubble size almost as significantly as 'Best'.
Keep the Texture quality on 'Best' though... I think every Modern graphics card can easily cope with that.

    PS
Just in case anyone is unaware, you can change your 3d Model Quality setting in game with Shift+[ & Shift+].
