  1. soviet readiness up to 82 now Swden is nearly dead. yugo is also nearly dead. I am not really ready for Barbarossa yet, I need about 4 more turns...hopefully I will get them. I nearly lost a Luftflotte due to heavy UK attacking. 3 11 stregth fighters in UK shelling my poor lonely luftflotte. Germany still has no tech...ARGH
  2. Sank a UK BB which tried to shell bergen. Preparing for soviet war very quickly as their readiness is up to 66% now. Think I will attack them around historic date. Still waiting for yugo to fall to allies. Everything else is looking good alhough the germans has no tech and italy 2 techs (1 ITA chit to 4 GER) argh! stupid dice rolling
  3. Just took Norway and Greece first turn of 41. Only Hungary has joined so far and no Yugo betrayal yet. The Italian army is coming along nicely and will be ready for its next two big operations. German tech investment is at a good pace although to this point it has not yeilded any dividends . Army of scandinavia now turns its gaze to the east, meanwhile the UK seems content to just harass my poor luftflotte in the lille area. Egypt has been fortified a bit. It is nice that US entry is at 20 and soviet at onyl 46 or so. Lets me take the initiative. UK still has most of the RN which is worrisome, but the med is clear of its ships (I am pretty sure).
  4. i am guessing he meant wife's parent's anniversary
  5. I am going to land 50 armies in the UK next turn look OUT!
  6. How do you set up the Italians without activating them into the war????????
  7. Pris Fell and all french towns occupied. RN fled the channel. Nearly lost a Italian BB in battle off gibraltar. Now need to rebuild and reorganize and actually make some decisions about what I am going to do long term.
  8. Turn 8 allies. The allies have really ground down the Wermarcht and most units are now at 6 or 8 strength. The french bought a brand new tank and the italians are getting regularly bombed from malta. Turn 9 axis- Killed the new french tank immediately, took out a BB in the channel with air power and attacked gibrraltar (probably not such a good idea) with the italian navy as the RN fled the med. French are now down to 2 corps. bordueax and marsilles fell and brest is about too, but Paris must wait another turn yet again. I think I finally have enough units around it to ensure its demise. Now I am thnking about whether I should go for an all out sealion, or just attack some minors...I could also wait to attack minors until the US and USSR are in the war and then try to kill several at once...
  9. Well it did not exactly fail for him, because it forced me to attack early and I couldn't get DAN or NOR. And he got the money...so I am really low on MPP. That gambit did cost him quite a few units though in the end. Worse yet US WE is at -12% and USSR still siting at 30%
  10. Well the italian navy got beat up by the UK in the med rather badly. France is lost its only a matter of time now. Sunka BB in the channel, but I am low on MPPs and need to reinforce many of my units, especially expensive ones Turn 8 was not a very good turn for the axis. The KM was sunk and a tank group was lost France is down to 3 units and a HQ around paris, but the RN is still fairly strong (sank 1 more BB). I am really low on MPP and it would be very nice to take Paris next turn, but I have a feeling it will be 2. Italy is now safe and can prepare to invade someone. 11. Turn 6 massive breakthrough more or less along the lines of the schlieffen plan. Corps north of alps still stalled. Lost my last sub but KM is still alive. In great news the italians joined the war. A french transport near bari was nearly destroyed.
  12. On turn five I took back Brussels. Kossuth got my other sub on turn 4. I almost killed his tank in France too and still haven't lost a unit. I think I might be able to break his line in 1 or 2 turns. We will see.
  13. On turn four I killed one french army and breached the rhine near liege. I now have 3 corps across it (2 north 1 in south). Brussels was undefended but I had no units which could get there but a 4 strength corps and it would surely die (should have had a transport waiting for just that eventuality, but I wasn't thinking ahead). My fleet hit his strategic bomber but only took it down to 7, I think it (my fleet that is) will die soon still no units lost but 1 sub, but that was a good tradoff.
  14. I am playing Kossuth in my first MP game. Lets hope Kossuth takes it easy on me. We played just straight up 39, but w/o the free french rule (because i think it is really stupid) French fleet fought on niether side and french armies were barely division size early on...plus it promotes gamey abandon france like strategies. Anyway, on with the AAR. First turn I spent probably way too many units attacking Poland. Hurt him nicely with minimal losses but may be vulnerable to attack in west. Stupid Luftflotte couldn't kill his 2 strength army in Poznan... Second turn I saw a british transport move next to brussels and I pounced on it with my cruisers (sub scouted first for RN, but none there, subs are nervous). With the help of the Luftflotte in Hannover was able to sink transport. The canadian army also ran into one of my atlantic subs badly damaging it (3). Kossuth attacked and took the LC as France anyway although it was a very close thing, he used most of his air power and 3 armies. Poland is a dead man walking. Third turn I diverted some stuff west to stop french, took southernmost maginot line which was luckily undefended (seemed like 4 french units in belgium was a lot). Got a corps into the ardenne but I am worried it will die. My sub finished off the canadian transport, but it is sure to get killed by the RN. I did hit his uk airpower with both of my cruisers but it only got down to 2 I hope I do not get beat up too bad before my polish forces can change fronts...there is no way I can spare troops for denmark or norway sadly...stupid low countries...Oh yeah and Poland died
  15. Rambo what exactly is it that makes you so good? There are only so many variables in this game so after a while you would expect all the top players to be of relatively equal skill level, especially considering how unblanaced air fleets currently are (or rather how weak the non-jet techs are). I wouldn't mind playing you to see if I could learn a thing or two. And the AAR would probably be pretty good. Something like "Gamelins Gambit" -the french high command in the war of polish liberation if I was axis And "Gone in 60 turns" -the new AAR where fast tanks stolen from manchester MPPs stream across the russian stepes in no time if I was allies
  16. I think that has to do with why people play, while most of both types obviously play for fun I think there is a larger proportion among he kiddies who also use gaming as a self esteem booster and thus are tempted to cheat. If you just want to have fun cheating really loses its appeal.
  17. Well I really like SPR as a narrative, but it kind of is lacking on a historical basis (for reasons previously mentioned). EatG was also pretty good, and had more complicated characters. I hate straight hero stories...so disinteresting. Flawed heros are much better. I also liked a thin red line as it took the time to show things from the Japanese perspective in a few parts. I guess that is my biggest complaint about american war movies, you never get the perception that the people the heros are fighting are fighting for exactly the same reason the americans are. Some of the German's killed in SPR without a second of sentimentality were school teachers too, or pediatricians, or really wonderful people...Its always been my impression that most of the older people who were past young adulthood in germany in 33 were relatively decent people. 18. I too would be more than happy to help. Although I am new to SC community, I do have experience beta testing for other games (paradox, blizzard) as well as full grognard credentials. I have fairly good knowledge of math/statistics, symbolic logic (helps for events especially triggers), WWII, and CPU/board games, about all the skills someone would need for such a task. Anyway here is hoping SC2 is as good as SC1.
  19. I made a new historic OOB scenario. I would like input, and as some have mentioned that most people are over here nowadays, I guess I thought I would post a little notice here
  20. I imagine air fleets as about 1 air group(~120 "front line" aircraft) a strength point, so around 1200 aircraft. At the start of the war GER had over 4000 aircraft while the UK had only just over 1500, so the current proportion (in my oob) seems right on [ April 15, 2004, 09:49 PM: Message edited by: Becephalus ]
  21. Well I cannot bump up any neutrals since the editor does not allow you to. I think I have the polish about right (at least in overall strength if not in number of formations) and they fall at the historic time. I find Germany looks really scary in this mod, but I have given the USA 500 extra MPP and the USSR 1500 extra MPP (may need more to balance which is fine because that too is historical ). FRA and the UK also have many more units. here is the link to the download http://www.deciv.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1380 A dialogue with comments/critiques (and good reasoning/evidence behind claims) might really help this scenario get better. SO please post your opinions of this even fi you do not like it. Thanks [ April 15, 2004, 07:52 PM: Message edited by: Becephalus ]
  22. I would suggest just trying to get through USSR lines very methodically. Be slow and deliberate and maybe you can crack them slowly. First though you should take out the US, many MPPs extra for airfleets, and it feels better at the end (even if you fail in USSR)
  23. If you are able to throw absolutely everything into the defense of france it is rather easy. I think a good aditional condition to make the tourney harder would be that if the axis land even one unit on the BI then allies lose immediately. This would force a more realistic and responsible use of RN
