  1. Overall game, strong YES. I am currently into the second battle of the campaign, quite good. Quick battles, no. Need bigger maps, more troop and map import options for creating battles.
  2. I just want to add my two cents. First, this is a great game - awsome in fact. As I prefer WWII scenarios, I did not expect to enjoy this game but after trying the demo I knew I had to buy it and am happy I did so. The scenarios are excellent - and lot's of fun. I realy enjoyed Factory Outlet. Graphics, scenery, and effects are great. Playability, strategy and tactics also good. Improvements? Bigger maps!!! It seems the largest possible map has gotten smaller since CMAK/BB rather than larger. This means my Abrams can cross the largest map in just a couple of turns, thus limiting playability in my view. Next, gone is the ability to save a map and troops at the end of a battle and import them into another battle with the same battle-worn map and troops. Thus what I'd like is to be able to take a scenario like Factory Outlet and expand the map size - say as big as possible (multiple kilometers, 6x4 in CMBB), play the battle, and then load the map and troops into a second battle featuring a Syrian counter attack - for example. So I hope you will expand map size, and map/troop import features. Thanks.
  3. I'd happily pay $50-$100 for a CMAK upgrade to ETO with king tigers, M36 jacksons, etc, larger maps, follow the leader command.
  4. Well, I'd still be happy with an upgraded CMBO but I know we've been over that before.
  5. McAulife, regarding Pied Peiper, I started a game against a friend and made it only into the second battle before his computer crashed. I've revised the OP somewhat and will propably give it another go sometime. I'm frustrated with the reinforcements - that it's a painstaking task to place them all and they can only be placed behind the AI - designated frontline. I look forward to seeing your new maps.
  6. Come to think of it, Richie's maps ain't so bad either.
  7. My vote would be for McAuliffe... His Ardenne's map work is some of the best you'll find IMO! </font>
  8. Also, anyone familiar with this Paperless Campaign Tool (PCT) here: http://www.pyes-ct.de/cm.html
  9. Anyone who likes making maps want to make the giant map of the Stavelot - Trois Ponts - La Gleize - Stoumont - Targnon - Oufni area in Mapping Mission?
  10. Bravo McAuliffe. So I'm gathering that such software tools don't already exist? I believe I read somewhere in these forums of some campaign tools made for CMBB (besides Battlefront's CMC currently in design), I don't know about CMAK. So if one were to make a gigantic map in Mapping Mission (MM) of the Ambleve area - Stavelot to Trois Ponts to Stoumont Station to Oufni etc... Could one currently track a campaign - importing the appropriate map sections from MM as the campaign warrents? Or would such a thing still require new software? Ops are limmited to 4 X 8km maps and basically East/West confrontation - while a campaign can have a whole battlegroup advancing 15k then getting cut off and attacked from all sides, etc... 11. I've read about making the maps but is there a way to string them into a campaign? For example - playing a battle say in Stavelot and then transfering the surviving German units onto the next battle map say Trois Ponts - and then being able to go back to the same Stavelot map with battle damage for US counterattacks against German reinforcements from different directions???
  12. I understand that with Mapping Mission it's possible to make huge maps - up to 20k by 20k - which can be broken down into smaller battle maps - say 3k by 3k for importation into the CMBB editor. I'm familiar with Pyewacket's Map Converter to bring CMBB maps into CMAK. My question: are there tools available to build an Ardennes campaign in CMAK using a huge map in Mapping Mission to piece together a series of continuous battles like an operation - say following KG Peiper for several days - from taking the Stavelot bridge to Stoumont Station to the US counterattacks and ultimate defeat of KG Peiper? OR would such a thing only be possible in CMBB pending CM Campaigns?
  13. That's true and I'm not trying to minimize the Iranian statement, but Robertson's is reflected by many in the current Administration which alledgedly backed the failed coup against Chavez a couple years ago. A lot of oil and politics here - that's one reason why I prefer WWII ETO gaming - it's easy to view it as simple good vs. evil and we know the good guys won.
  14. Saying Israel should be "wiped of the map" is not a threat of war but a statement of opinion (reckless and inflamatory it may be)- like Pat Robertson saying Chavez should be assassinated. Notice many Jews share Ahmadinejad's opinion at least according to these guys: http://www.jewsagainstzionism.com/ In any case Iran had a democratically elected government overthrown by the CIA in the 1950s and suffered a brutal 10 year war after Saddam invaded in the 1980s - backed by the CIA - so the idea of desiring nukes when their neighbor Israel has them and almost 200,000 US/UK troops surround them on 2 borders is not entirely without understanding. Though we are getting political now.
  15. My apologies but we ronin samurai are known to be a stubborn lot. I've not had time to read the threads, but if my points are already addressed I'm glad.
  16. Just to throw my two cents in... without having read much of these threads. I want ETO but I love CMAK (so I hope we don't loose what we already have) but would be thrilled to see a few modifications thrown into CMX2. My "nich" is the huge campaign (for example a large KG Peiper Ardennes scenario would be fabulous which would incorporate the multiple US taskforces which cut off KG Peiper and destroyed it). Now I know CM is not optimally designed for this but I hope it will allow for it. *A simple follow the leader or formation command should alleviate much of the tedious movement problems with huge numbers of units. *Some kind of grouping function would be great. For example a platoon, company, or whatever could be assigned as a group that can be selected and placed or moved without the tedious placement or plotting of each unit individually. Turn off the grouping function and you're back to squads - for fine tuning. Thus you can treat platoons as squads in terms of placement and movement - saving much tedium. In operations, rather than having reinforcements appear as a blob of units. What if they appeared as a grouping in formation for easy placement - platoons/companies - perhaps set up in the editor. Thus if my reinforements are two companies, rather than a blob they might appear as 8 platoon groups in two company groups - each group having a designation. so if I want to place 1st Co two km away, I just find the desired spot, hit the designation key for 1st Co, place it on the desired spot, and then do the same to position each of it's platoons, then turn off grouping mode for fine tuning. Some kind of tactical overview/map mode allowing similar placement would be nice also. *How about command posts and command vehicles? *For operations I want the editor to allow reinforcments to come into the enemy rear or flank so that counterattackes could actually cut off the enemy - while his reinforcements try to break through. *Of course atmosphere is a major attraction. More realistic infantry. More dynamic looking weather (haze, fog with snow for instance). Sounds of crows near a field... tank commanders swaying in the canopy... radio chatter when you click on a tank... or a "yes sir" when clicking on a infantry unit... smokey vehicles... etc *Larger map potential would be great - 16/8km? Larger? Anyway, such is my wishlist.
  17. Well I had a Panzer IVJ advance into the sight of a M10 played by the AI. The M10 fired three shots at 43 meters before my panzer could react. All three shots hit but the shells desintegrated. On top of that some US infantry charged my panzer and hit it with a grenade. My completely undammaged panzer then fired one shot and knocked out the M10 and machine gunned the charging US infantry. Please explain that.
  18. Great photo. Star option for other side of turret on the way along with resized rear bmp. I'll try getting my mods together before release in future.
  19. Dang! Sorry, I'm still new at this modding business. I will attempt to fix.
  20. OK. The Sherman "Easy Eight" mod has been updated at CMMODS with the rear BMP.
  21. Thanks. I'll work on completing the piece and will upgrade cmmods when done. Mods you'll likely get from me are conversions of other's previous work from CMBO that I like particularly well and want for CMAK in Europe. I have a couple others I'm working on - time permitting. Hope the op is playable.
  22. New Op also... Merry Christmas and happy holidays. My massive Battle of the Bulge operation is now available at the proving grounds. It is called 'Pied Peiper.' Sacrificing geographical accuracy for game playablility, it attempts to capture the action of Kampfgruppe Peiper from Stavelot to Neufmoulin (Dec 18 - 22)on an 8km x 4km map. Warning this is intended as a two player operation only and is not for the sqeamish. I hope some find it playable. Note: Some of the map work is based on that of others and if they object, the operation can be pulled.
