  1. I like the Idea of Random re-enforcements. I would like to see some of the scenarios already made have a scecond scenario added with this option added. This would give more of a challenge in PBEM when both players know the scenario. Random re-enforcements realisticly models an area command at higer HQ. One could never count on what he could get. What he would get what was available at hand unless it was a major operation and part of the over all operation as follow on forces to explote what has been achieved. Just my 2 cents. WarKawk
  2. Spoiler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Zhukov's Tiger AAR completed at http://central.masterzen.net/index.php?showforum=73
  3. Has anyone here been followig my posts? at: http://central.masterzen.net/index.php?showforum=73
  4. Alternative to step 2 Hit lotto and quit work.
  5. Need to mention if you go to the link: ***********Spoiler************* for those who had not played this senario
  6. Well Gents, Need more traing with the AI before I try a PBEM. So the next fight I will have is: CSDT-Zhukov's Tiger. Found at the CSDT sight. This looks like a nasty one for Jerry(me) suggested play by designers. I am posting a play by play AAR at: http://central.masterzen.net/index.php?showforum=73 If anyone has any comments, I would be pleased with them Pro or Con.
  7. John Kettler and disigners, I can see the pro and cons. Yet at this level of tactical play you are happering leg type units. Smoke was used not only to take out tanks by blinding them, aslo pillboxes, MG nests and a like. I was one weapon infantry had to give them cover in advaces and assualts. How long does artillery smoke last. Smoke grenades would not last as long. Fire though smoke as a lesser degree.
  8. Brent Pollock, How about Posting that plan using snap shoots at the MZO site. My plan failed maybe some comments there by you might help.
  9. That is one draw back of current system. Tracked FO's would be nice.
  10. Does CMBB have tracked forward observers for artillery?
  11. istari and others, I finished this senario. This is a real ball buster for the Germans. Go to the sight below list for the AAR. If there are any coments please post them. http://central.masterzen.net/index.php?showforum=73
  12. Pity, While Playing SPWAW, it was of major use. I would think it was used by engineer/pioneer units.
  13. Question does CMBB modle the use of smoke grenades used by Infantry?
  14. Istari, I just started Pavlov's House and I am doing a turn by turn AAR here at the MZO Central/ Combat Mission/ Strategy section. http://central.masterzen.net/index.php?showforum=73
  15. Bone_Vulture , The movement rates meters/per minute by type unit vs terrain would help a player better plan an action. Certain attacks/defences would hing on timing. Example a Russian green infantry Company attacking in three waves of three platoons each, with a veteran platoon attacking on one of the flanks. The veteran platoon would be attacking as the last wave is engaged. The distance is 400 meters to the MLR(main line of resistance) Artillery would be timed as the second wave hits the MLR. So how many minutes before the second wave is within 100 meters and the artillery is planed to hit target? When should the flanking veterans jump off to time thier attack when the 3rd Wave hits the MLR? Ground covered by infantry per minute would assit in timing the attack depending on terrain effects.
  16. Hi all agin, Another question about movements rates of units. 1. Has anyone created a table of movement rate by type unit tha a unit can cover over various terrain? Infantry type/AFV or Vehicle in a one minute interval, ground covered meters traveled in one minute by movement command vs terrain.
  17. Hi All, I have a few questions about the Russian Wave Tactic. I know it is the only possible means to get green/conscripts to assualt a position. 1. Formation for a Plt, Inline wave or column? Sqds Inline ( 1sqd <interval?>2sqd <interval?>3sqd ) or Sqds in column of sqds (1Sqd) (interval?) (2Sqd) (interval?) (3Sqd) 2. This leads to the next question of company formation, Inline? column or series of waves? Company Plts in line (1Plt<interval?>2Plt <interval?>3Plt support sqds behind the wave or Company in column of Plts with Plts inline (1Plt)<interval?> (2Plt)<interval?> (3Plt) 1sqd..............1sqd.............1sqd Interval between waves of sqds 2sqd..............2sqd.............2sqd Interval between waves of sqds 3sqd..............3sqd.............3sqd support sqds on flanks Series of Plt wave (1plt) 1sqd....2sqd....3sqd Interval between waves of plts (2plt) 1sqd....2sqd....3sqd Interval between waves of plts (3plt) 1sqd....2sqd....3sqd support sqds on flanks 3. How close to the MLR(main line of resistance) do you give the order to wave assualt? I do have other questions about movement rates which I will post as a new topic.
  18. istari, I am a newbie and I have looked over that senario. I hope to play it as German and then as Russian. This should be a hard one for the Germans. Sgt Pavlov held that position with his Plt for 59 days before re-enforced. So as the German if I get my tail kicked it will be no suprise to me. I will let you know how it goes when I give it a try.
  19. RawRecruit, After some more boot training on scenarios I will give PBEM a try. Right now I am getting a fell for the game. Question: Will Combat Missions come out with a Pacific Theater. I served in the USMC from 72 to 85, Airwing. My main interest is the Pacific. That was a real Grunt theater. I love to see a Tarawa action. SPWAW has a good version of this I would like to see reproduced. Thanks again for warm welcome.
  20. Thanks for the Welcome. I just finished "Yelnia Stare". I loaded all the Demo senarios to the main game. Great fight! Major Victory as the Germans. I lost both ATG's within the first three turns. Just one track hit. What I find great about this game so far is the covering arcs for weapons. I can finally use properinfantry tactics in the defence. Those 50mm motors do not have much range, only 100 meters. I love the offboard arty, used it to break up the Russian attack. Tanks are great but I am a grunt at heart.
  21. To All, About a week ago I downloaded the demo to CMBB. I was so amazed by it, I bought the combo pack with CMBB and CMAK. In the past I have played Steel Panthers, SPWAW and SPWAWH2H. By far CM Games are far superior to the old turn base games. I just download all the senarios I could find from other sites linked. I have played" Beat the Odds" and "The Road Block". Shows how a well placed tank can take out a superior force. I do have a question has anyone thought make senarios from the data found in SP, SPAW an SPAWH2H,Avalon Hills,Squad Leader and there other war games. Later I would like to learn how to MOD Maps from these games and recreat these scenarios for CMBB. The money I payed is well spent. I see hours of enjoyment for the future.
