What do R.P.Hunnicutt and Mark Twayne have in common?
Corvidae replied to MikeyD's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
Think about who made the claim about his death. You can have progress, or congress. And a library of congress must be the opposite of a library of progress. Also, being born in 1026 would place him at how old????? -

3in Mortar FO - can't transport?

There are two (2) kinds of spotter. Wire equiped, And Radio equiped. Wire equiped spotters carry huge spools of wire for their field telephones, They cannot embark on any available vehicles. Its silly, but thats the way it works. -
If you are facing a force of tigers, My advice is as follows, Place head between legs, and kiss own ass good bye.

Ah, my mistake dickesKind, All squads have (or should have) binoculars. Select a squad, hit the [enter] button, A window should appear with detailed info on that squad. Provokating fire is recon by death, It doesnt work very well. You are just too far away to get more than a sound contact, and sound contacts are very unreliable. You need to get close without getting spotted. I'm gonna check the mission, So I'll know more about it. Cuirassier has the right idea, try small QBs first. I'll post again later
-
dickesKind, The "binocular guys" are artilery spotters, they are not recon troops. They only spot the spotting round for the artilery battery they represent. They do not spot actual enemy troops. Use them to direct general bombardment onto suspected enemy positions. I dont think you have any grenade launchers.

Arent you done yet?

Cool, -
Hullo Eric, I never totaly got how victory points are calculated. I think you get more points if you take enemy units prisoner than you get if you just kill them. Every unit on the map has a fixed value in points. As a squad takes casualties, its point value declines. This is realy all I can tell you. The designers of the game could explain it. And I think they visit the forum. So they might tell you.

Point # 1 Anti tank guns generaly have the advantage over tanks. Point # 2 Tank destroyers generaly have the advantage over tanks when properly deployed. Does anyone see any flaws in my two points??

Everybody knows the whole war was won by the Aztec sacred guard brigades from Aztechlan. Its just so obvious. everything else is just failure to maintain a sufficient alcohol level.

Thankyou flamingknives. I realy mean that. Have a beer.

Mr Kenny, I cant even figure out what your position is, let alone if you are right or wrong. You are all over the map. And it's making my head hurt. Lets simplify the whole discussion please, YES OR NO only 1)Can an allied tank destroyer kill an axis tank? 2)Did any allied tank destroyers kill any axis tanks? 3)Did any allied tank destroyers score multiple kills over the war? 4)Were allied tank destroyers able to kill axis medium AFVs? 5)Were allied tank destroyers able to kill axis heavy AFVs? 6)Would you agree that allied tank destroyers were best used as defensive weapons for blunting axis armored spearheads?
-
Wicky, Ah yes, I read the article After I posted. Guess I should have done that first. My oops. Its a monster A co axial MG ??? I dunno, maybe a remote MG would be better. Like that thing on the hetzer, only better designed. Deployment? In platoons of 4, with attached assult infantry platoon in attendance. (American panzer grenadiers basicly.) In a specialized company (assult company?) Assult company = Co HQ Jagdsherman platoon, X1 Assult infantry platoon, X1 Infantry platoon, X2 Hvy weapons section, X2 Give assult company priority for regimental level artilery support.

What would the specs be on that baby? Main gun looks like a 76.2mm/L70 something or thereabouts. Secondary armament, you show a flex mount .50 cal. Bow plate is 45 degrees or lower, and what? 4 inches thick? at least. It would be slow and heavy.
-
My summation of Mr Kenny's rather overlong post: Tank destroyers were a defensive weapon which were best used from either prepared positions, or from ambush. They were not an offensive weapon. Would anyone agree with that? Mr Kenny, NOBODY IS DISPUTING YOUR APPEARANT POINT!! Now drink your beer. JonS, Have a beer
