Not even Rune would create a scenario like that. ****e, I probably gave him an idea.

Until you told me about it,I had no idea of what you had or where.I too,had units that were locked in place and very exposed.I do not,nor never have, cheated in any way. Thanks for wasting my time, and ruining a cool looking scenario by telling me where and how your forces were. This is/was an awfully limp-wristed thing to do considering you are a Waffler

Sergei,if Axe is ok with it,and if the battle in question is not too large,I will play the rest of the battle with his setup/forces,etc.Let me know.

  2. Perhaps what BF.C could do is to program in a mini version of Kong here.Whenever the end user of CMx2 would complain about some ommission(intentional,or non)up would pop mini-Kong.At first mini-Kong would just seem really annoyed, shaking his finger at you and setting you straight;however,if the complaining continued,he would grow larger and larger with each occurence.Eventually,he would get so big and angry that he would go about the destruction of all of your forces.I must also warn you that he would probably eventually end up stealing your token hot girl, climbing the tallest building, and there he would wait until the air force showed up.And we all remember how poorly implemented air forces were in CMx1.Er,wait...see,right there my mini-Kong would've gotten pissed.

    I mean,after all,something like this shouldn't be all that difficult to add......should it? tongue.gif:D

  3. Good Discussion.

I,too, disliked it when an entire squad would react like a single man,but what I hated even more was when that very squad that was routed just a few minutes ago is ready to fight again in about 3-5 turns(minutes). To me,routed should mean something much worse than what it did in CMx1.If someone is routed they,IMO,should be messed up for a good long while--regardless whether they are in C&C or not.Broken is the one that you might could recover from in 10-25 minutes. And panic one might could recover from in a few minutes or less.

In CMx2,hopefully when a single man is routed he will, for the most part,be out of most shorter battles. If it is a longer battle,or if he was only panicing/broken,then maybe he would get back into the fight. But,when you are so messed up that you run around all crazy like until you are exhausted qualifies as being really messed up.Then again,I am hoping that in CMx2 it will,on the whole,be far more easy to panic/break/rout troops;as well as,to wound/kill them.

  4. Not sure if everyone can still chime in on this, and I apologize for the fact that I have not read the entire thread but here is my two cents on this.

I would much rather see other things in 1:1 done with more detail;like seeing engineers out prodding around with sticks to try and remove mines while under fire. All this dealing with the WIA is over-kill.The way I would like to see it done is that only a small percentage of the time will soldiers stop to tend to wounded.Even when they do,I would expect that they are disobeying orders to do it--kind of like a knee-jerk reaction to seeing their buddy get hit.I would like to see the one soldier drag the injured soldier to some kind of cover, tend to wounds(though not always),but most importantly summon a medic. When the medic arrives the non-injured soldier tries to get back in the fray.

IF you make people deal with the WIA(or whatever)in any more detail, then you had better attach some severe penalty to allowing WIA to get killed.Otherwise,I am just going to leave them where they fall and let the medics or whatever sort it out.No way am I wasting time micro-managing the wounded.

  5. Good grief!Acccurate tree damage had better be modeled correctly, considering that it is as whack as firepower ratings and cover ratings.

Fire--OF ANY KIND--can and will damage trees.Heck a basic thunderstorm can strip leaves and small limbs. It doesn't have to be arty,it can be 15-30 minutes of a few HMGs firing into a group of woods to de-foliate the exterior facing of the woods, allowing the attackers to see further into the woods.Something as small as 50mm mortar rounds exploding in the tree tops would knock off leaves and small limbs, allowing in more and more light.I am not talking about the complete destruction of the woods, but in CMX1 terms, summer woods would go from summer woods to spring woods, then fall, then winter, etc. in terms of LOS.Even small arms will strip trees of leaves.Don't believe me?Take a shotgun, load it with game or buck shot and shoot a tree...what happens?

The argument that heavy arty would actually aid the defenders by adding more cover on the ground is a joke.Who are the Rambo mofos that are going to withstand the arty barrage, huge limbs and tree trunks falling on them, while walking around gathering up piles of leaves to play in later?

As it is/was in CMX1,NO amount of fire would have any effect on LOS or cover rating for tree cover. This simply is not logical, and needs to be fixed.I can't even believe that this is(?) a debate topic.

  6. As a general rule, only ambush armor from cover, while making sure to stay in the cover.I never, ever, ever, unless through sheer desperation, send my troops out in the open to die.If that had been a t-34 with canister, fanatics or not = dead!

Remember that when infantry are trying to KO armor,it is an abstraction. What you don't see is that there are some dudes running out there with the explosives to try and KO the tank;therefore, there is no need for you to do it manually.

  7. Does anything happen within the game around file number 21 or so?Like maybe reinforcements arrive or something?

I have gotten unhandled exception errors(which essentially lock the game up)simply because of a Russian truck mod;however, this has never prevented me from opening a file.

Try zipping the files until you get past the corrupt file,or maybe even try sending turns via a different email provider for a short time.

  9. In regard to 'play where they lay':

I do not understand why a FO WITHOUT a radio gets to teleport about the map.To me this is much more of an exploit than bringing up reinforcements.

My other complaint IS about reinforcements. In a scenario, reinforcements can show up at any time--which is realistic. In a huge operation(which can sometimes be 20-30+ turns)all the reinforcements have to arrive all at once and in a giant wad--this is NOT realistic. We all know that reinforcements in any battle should arrive at any time, and rarely every single possible reinforcement will arrive all at the same time. Therefore, why is either the attacker or defender punished for what has to be an abstraction? At the very least,a percentage of the reinforcements should be allowed to setup in a more forward position.I would think especially any wheeled or tracked vehicles.Infantry and support units should have to ride something,or be walked up.

Yes,I know, that is what I was talking about. You are trying to counter-attack to move the setup zones forward so that you can link up with the cut-off troops.

If you are playing an advance operation you will be wasting your time trying to do what you are wanting to do(read the example I posted about what I did in an advance operation as the defender).

If it's an assualt operation,it may work, but you need to make sure to do it with "over-kill".What I mean by that is that you need to send alot of troops up to link back up,and hopefully the enemy will not be close by.You will have to completely affect the setup zones so as to regain ground.Understand what I am saying?

From what I understand,if the operation is an assualt operation, the defender can regain ground--but I am not sure if you can make the map scroll backward. If it is an advance operation, the defender can only barely affect the "frontline".

I have moved an entire battalion of men across a river under the cover of falling snow.I spread them out as best I could to try and bring the bridge back into my setup zones.I think it made the "frontline" regress about 20m
