  1. ....and lose the one excellent wego feature which CM has which is not emulated anywhere---many of us do not like the clickfest fast reaction sim but the more thoughtful ,reflective decision making process and the chance to view the outcomes and action in detail and breadth.

There should be opps for both approaches within the game The absence of the old "Hunt" feature as is explained above, causes a real problem for the "wego" exponents with the current CMBN.

Hey hey woah there, I was just pointing out that this problem is solved by playing RT and pausing frequently. It's how I play, and I rarely miss the replay function. Most of the time I can absorb all the information I need from watching events as they unfold, and on the rare occasion that I miss something I chalk it up to the commander not knowing every little detail of the battle.

I definitely don't play RT as a 'clickfest fast reaction sim', I do go through a 'thoughtful, reflective decision making process' every time I pause to give orders, and in addition I don't have troops sitting there doing nothing for 1 minute because I forgot to give them orders or because something cropped up on the first second of the turn.

  2. 3) A sneak command that does not cause 'crawl', but let the men move stooped (right word? I'm not English). Less tiring then crawl, speed nearly like move, and as silent and covered as possible. IIRC, we had that in CMBO?

For infantry, use Hunt. If you want them to not stop when fired upon, that's bad I guess, but that's the 'advance bent double' command I use.

  3. By the time the briefing appears the scenario has been launched anyway, and when you click 'ok' it takes you straight to the map, unless my copy is a mutation or something. So I don't see what the problem is - read the briefing and look at the tac. map, make your decision, then hit ok and either play or quit...?

  4. Ok i downloaded flashget..it asks for the url to start it? i used the url of the download page that pops up from the email. the one where you click to start the download but it downloads some little file..probably the page..i dunno

Get to the page where it says 'click here to download' (i.e. the download link), right click that link, click 'copy address' or similar depending on your browser, then feed that into Flashget.

  5. Don't feel bad if you haven't pre-ordered.... I did, but for whatever reason I can't download it from the site. Have an order confirmation on the site, with key, but have a "You have already downloaded the file(s) the maximum number of times, or the download period has expired" message there. For whatever reason, I have the annoucement email like everyone else.... but not download link email from last week (and I keep EVERYTHING).

    What a !@#$ed day.....

That sucks man...patience, and hope you enjoy your steelbox, eh? :)

  6. The only reason I'd play WEGO any more is so I could see events again as many times as I wanted. Like YankeeDog says, if they ever add a 30 second rewind or something similar to RT, I'd never go back. Why wait 60 seconds to change an order when I can change it immediately?

(disclaimer: I abuse the hell out of the pause button :P)

  7. I think the idea with using the target button as the new 'L' is that once a unit can see an enemy (which obviously requires LOS) then it can attempt to fire at it, even if it can't hit it. I remember in CMx1 there were times where a TC could just see over the top of a wall but couldn't order the tank to fire. Or maybe I dreamt that. Correct me if I'm wrong.
