  1. I'll speculate it's because if it was there, players would want to use it for its primary purpose, which was towing various larger guns, which isn't a game feature. Thoughts?
  2. Bah, it's obvious it will be horses, motorcycles, paratroopers dropping onto the map, and of course nuclear weapons.
  3. Here's a link to an old thread about trucks for other NATO nations that has some amusing comments in it.
  4. David, you did mention bringing features from other titles over. In another thread someone mentioned bringing over mine clearing equipment, by which I assume they meant vehicles. We can dream that right? Personally, and this is probably breaking your rule as well, I would also love to see UK, Canadian, German and Dutch trucks.
  5. Yes, we are grasping at straws attempting on reviving in some way the new content that is presently frozen the way they say Walt Disney is (but actually isn't). I'm curious how much of the scenario and new campaign work was already completed?
  6. That said one possible idea is IIRC the upcoming module was to feature US Marine forces. If that's correct, perhaps they could be used in a new game about a fictional Russian attack on Norway in 2017. I believe the response force to an attack on Norway has always been the USMC. Sure, taking such a path runs into the same issues as listed by The Captain above, but the initial game need not have more than Norwegian frontier forces whatever they are, if that. Yeah new maps would of course be required but, wow, it would be quite a different setting.
  7. Regarding the current war in Ukraine- You do all know there is a thread that is now 100s of pages long discussing it in the Black Sea forums. Can we not digress into discussing the war itself here in this thread please?
  8. I was thinking about a "Force Pack" for CM: Normandy that brings over the Free French, US Army Rangers, and perhaps a small number of vehicles that fought in the theater but aren't in the game yet but are in CM:FI. That strikes me as easy to implement. On the other hand, our programmer at work hates it when someone says it ought to be easy to implement.
  9. At the risk of being called pedantic, what's coming out for CMN is a Battlepack (i.e. scenario pack) which is different than a module.
  10. I have a hunch it will be more than a few days until we get update part two (unless I missed something Steve said). Some general recollections of old posts by Steve. Western Front WWII sells best followed by Eastern Front. No new North Africa Family planned. It sells fourth best after even Italy. They will never cover Arab-Israeli wars. They will never do a Pacific WWII family. The engine works best with combined arms battles. Thus both sides need significant combined arms forces so both sides can have campaigns.. (CMA was the exception to this but it was developed by a third party). Also there are terrain challenges with jungle. They will not do a Vietnam family. See above. What does that leave us? My first guess is another Red Thunder module that may include Finns. Of course Steve once said they will never do Cold War gone hot. Then a group of volunteers stepped forward and changed that. Perhaps that is happening again. I also recall Fortress Italy was moved way forward due to an investment by a private individual(s) but I don't think they will ever reveal the details on that.
  11. There's a very long thread on Board Game Geek about this. Perhaps the fact that the board game is operational level makes a difference to some people? The game is being designed by veteran (some use the term legendary) board wargame designer Mark Hermann. Some of you may recognize the names of some of the posters in the thread. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3074967/ukraine-modeling-ongoing-conflict-defiance-module
  12. I believe that's correct. I also seem to recall Snowball was hired by Paradox games to create the original Crusader Kings game, but they were so slow in their progress Paradox dropped them and did it themselves.
  13. There's a good chance a non-compete cause in the original contract would still prevent that. I wonder if anyone is still collecting royalties on sale of CM:A currently? Maybe the money is just going to some savings account in case actual ownership is ever established some day
  14. I think having Engineers be able to deactivate spotted IED's would be a great feature.
  15. This is behind a paywall but certainly relevant to this discussion. US Intelligence Shows Flawed China Missiles Led Xi Jinping to Purge Military - Bloomberg
  16. Operation Grenade ounce Downfall is released.
  17. Unlikely, due to its actual ownership being in limbo probably for all time. It's an easy one to overlook when thinking of CM2 games.
  18. During my time '77 to '80 we usually wore flak vests in the field BUT we were artillery.
  19. Orthodox Easter is a week later, so that would still count if needed.
  20. Folks, lighter on the acronyms please. My guess here, after googling it, is poor bloody infantry, but I'm not sure.
  21. Just a thought. We're thinking Xi is going to make the best move for China. We saw a year ago a supposedly shrewd dictator make a disastrous move for his country, and have blamed it on Putin surrounding himself by yes men after many years of accumulating power. How certain are we Xi isn't prone to the same flaw?
  22. @The_Capt, is the artillery usage chart for WWII Germans all fronts?
  23. I Well I knew the map wasn't legit as it didn't have Latveria and Sokovia.
  24. See, the Turks still love us Yanks deep down.
