  1. The book "The Last Citadel" might make Kursk a little more well known. It was real popular here in the states earlier this year. It even has female characters, the story of a father and son, a wounded Nazi Spainard in a Tiger and a whole lot of action. SOmeone will option it.
  2. I figured that we would see a CMAK special edition first.
  3. The only reason I don't play against human opponents is that my dial up internet connection makes it way too slow to do anything like that.
  4. In small infantry heavy battles flanking is essential. At least to me. I find it very effective in pinning or chasing off the opposition. The trade off is leaving your guys out there on the edge where they can be snapped up if you guess wrong about the enemy dispositions.
  5. I can reccommend an Osprey book that covers the Italian army in Sicily and Italy from 42-45. It has color plates of the airborne troops.
  6. German invasion of Western Europe 39-40.
  7. Picking them off at 500 meters? Have you ever tried to hit anything with a rifle at 500m? You would have to be an Olympic level shot to pick the crew off one at a time. In addition to disregarding the chaos going on all around you.
  8. For me ASL was long dead before I knew CM existed. I had long since gravitated to historical and sci-fi type miniature games (with homebrew ASL influenced rules) prior to any good PC games being on the market. ASL could still be put in a PC format, its not impossible. The only board game I still play with any regularity is Risk.
  9. My PC is not new, but handles up to 1250 point battles quite well. However a 2000 point battle on a medium map causes drastic speed loss and chopiness. Is there anything I can do as far as settings to make the program run smoother?
  10. Every once in a while I will play a series against the AI in order to familiarize myself with new equipment and force organizations. I start with a 500 point quick battle randomizing everything except small map and I pick my forces from a randomly generated nation and TO&E. Start Allied, and move up one points amount after every game. Switch to medium map at 1000 or 1250 points, and large map at 2000+. If you should lose, become the Axis for your next battle. This generates tons of random scenarios. Infantry assaults on armor. Crazy defenses without artillery, etc..., but you will learn how to use all kind of nutty combos effectively. Plus its fun to have Italian and South African mechanised troops tangling for no particular reason.
