I'm trying to be cautious of my very pro-Ukrainian bias, but that looks super staged to me. The "executed" guys seem remarkably chill about the whole thing. Three of them and four guards and they walk that obediently to their deaths? They even hurry into position at the end. They're not being moved at gunpoint. As far as I can see, the guards are holding their weapons at the low ready right up until they fire. They're clearly not blind folded, because they line up pretty neatly without anyone guiding them into position (and you can clearly see that there are a bunch of branches on the ground). Then, immediately after the "execution" there's a cut so the drone can get close enough to see the armbands (note the poster explicitly points these armbands out as evidence that they're Ukrainians and the armbands are only really visible in that last bit). Pretty helpful of the guards to stay lined up like that while the drone got into position for the final shot. And then the guards see the drone and open fire - that's pretty convenient timing so you can cut the drone footage and the "executed" guys can get back up.

Unless new information comes out about this via some other channel, I'm going to say that this is staged. And not even staged very convincingly.

Make sure to pass that on to the "blonde".

... I miss playing the early war years with inferior equipment and tanks, yeah weird I know

but anyway, can one still buy it?

Totally agree as my signature suggests and not weird at all. Really sad the new engine hasn't gone back in time.

    EDIT:
Found this thread as well that might be of use if you get them again:

Also, for my setup, from the main screen in game, I have to ctrl + alt + tab and then come back into the game, otherwise the game gets bogged down with very very slow FPS for whatever reason.

Scenario Packs in thread below and right above that post is mention of, with the GoG purchase, fog now works on newer computers.

If someone would like to read a compilation of both the German and Soviet documentations of the battle around Olkhovatka 15 - 17 September 1942, where the German 13 Army Corps was situated along the river Don, that is to be found here.

This pfd-file comes with the Bird Grove DLC for the Graviteam Tactics game Mius-Front.

If you are one of those "Combat mission fanboys" you obviously have the policy to never touch anything connected to Mius-Front.

    That's ok with me.

I will point out that Graviteam stuff  sucks imo. Would that be considered being a CM fanboy?

Those that significantly change their support for Ukraine over Ukraine's reaction to this single situation were just waiting for an excuse to do so.   From my perspective, Ukraine has been pretty forthcoming and transparent in their comments and approach throughout this war.  And if Russian bloggers/press try to hammer Ukraine for this single instance they should look in the f'ing mirror as Russia lies and deflects about everything---even when it's blatantly obvious they are lying.

    Bingo Ringo!

What I've really been on the hunt for is a book with detailed maps of the Southern area where the 48th Panzer Korps and the SS Panzer Korps operated, well the III Panzer Korps also with Korps Raus. The southern part of the battle was more fluid than the northern part was

I am thinking this big bastage would have something you would find of interest. I have always wanted to get this book. Someday.

Many, many years ago I ran multiplayer games like this using Steel Panthers (both the WWII and Modern versions). I never tried using CM but I'm sure it'll be pretty involved and time intensive. The one advantage I found with using Steel Panthers was the random map generator which saved lots of time. It'll be interesting to see how this project turns out.

SP is still imo one of the best games ever made. The updated graphics with the versions WinSPWW2 and WinSPMBT make it very playable again... SP has so many features that I wish for in CM. It being 2D top down view however, I hop back and forth between the two (CM and SP) for my fixes. SP is also a great source for scenario conversions to CM, maps not so much. However.....

I do think the SP map generator could be used to generate  rough templates to use as overlays in the CM map editor to assist with campaign map making. Of course all the details the CM map editor provides would make the map look much better in the end as a straight SP map converted to CM does not look great hence why I mention to use them as "rough templates".

I do know that the SP map generator creates better looking 2D, top down, random generated maps (that make sense) compared to the maps that CMx1 3D randomly generated that is for sure. Remember those? lol.

  7. I'll host these links for a few days. Get them while they are HOT!! And a big thanks to the creators of both of these campaigns!

    Thunder Over Ponyri:

    Zitadelle:

Kursk mod pack is included with the Zitadelle zip, parts of which can be used in both campaigns.

  8. Sounds great!

Just have to check but I assume you already have the two campaigns created for those battles? One campaign is called 'Zitadelle' the other 'Thunder Over Ponyri'.

If you don't have them I can send a link your way if you would like them? You wouldn't want to miss these!! 🙂

You can also use the campaign to scenario app that is available to convert the campaigns to single scenarios.
