  1. I think I didn't do a very good job of writing that one post. No, I have never seen anything that indicated that the video card was overheating. At the same time, I can't say with 100% certainty, that it is not. It is a good video card, that has it's own heat sink. I am just thinking that it is probably not the video card. This particular card is brand new. It replaced an older geforce card. I replaced it, in hopes of fixing this problem with rebooting while playing CM. Maybe I will find another 3D game and load it as an experiment. Just to see if I have the same problem with it, that I am having with CM.
  2. What I am trying to say, really, is that I just don't think the problem is heat related. I think I am at the point, where if I want to play the game, I am just going to have to "save" often, to avoid losing my work, like Jason C. does. I haven't had this problem with any other program, so until I find out otherwise, I am going to consider it just a CM problem, and live with it.
  3. Unfortunately, changing the BIOS didn't help. I still wonder if this is really heat related. I have my GPU set to inform me if the core temp. reaches the threshold, but how does that happen when the computer reboots first, and then cools down before I get a chance check the temp. I don't believe that the GPU leaves a record of its temp. at the time of the reboot. Like Jason C, I don't believe I have had a reboot during a replay. But then, I spend the vast majority of the time plotting moves, so maybe that does not mean anything. Unlike Jason C, I have only had reboot problems. I have never had the monitor freeze up, or any other problem. I guess it's time for the memtest86.
  4. Ok Redwolf, I can do that....thanks. Also, I have yet to run any of the tests that Schrullenhaft left links for. We will see how it goes.
  5. A quick update on this problem. I downloaded the program which allows me to monitor CPU temp., and I have now come to the conclusion that it is not a overheating problem at all. While talking about this to a friend who helped me when I built this computer, he reminded me that we had changed some of the BIOS settings, which I had forgotten. Although the settings were not set to "aggressive", they were higher than "optimal". I backed everything back down to "optimal". We will see how that works. I will check back in when I find out if that was the answer or not. BTW, I just bought the new 22" Dell flatscreen, LCD moniter, and it is beautiful. I downloaded the latest drivers for my video card, and I am using the DVI connection. It is quite a upgrade over my old Dell M990. Thanks for the feedback.
  6. I have read other posts on this problem, and I want to add that I don't have any other applications running while I am playing CMBB. I have taken the side panel off and still had the computer reboot while playing. My CPU fan is working, and is virtually dust free.
  7. While playing CMBB my computer reboots. I have a computer which I built. nvidia n6600GT AGP 8x Asus A7N8X-E deluxe motherboard AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Corsair 1Gbyte TwinX Matched Memory Pair RAM Home Edition of XP I don't have any other real graphics intensive games which to test my computer on other than CM. Thanks in advance for any help.
  8. This question actually pertains to a Japanese 20mm AT Gun, but I don't think the nationality is going to matter. When a 20mm AT round struck a vehicle, did it explode, or was it intended to pierce the vehicle and just rattle around inside?
  9. I would call myself a "history buff". I was a history major until dropping out of school to play music fulltime. Heyho Crank, hows that for a coincidince! And another dude who holds down the bottom end to. Although I sat behind the kit and used the kick. But that was a long time ago. Late 70's through 1985. I used to take Squad Leader on the road when I had a guitar player in the band that also played. But the history thing started when I was a kid. My Dad was in the 3rd Raider Battalion, and the the 4th Marine Regiment after the Raiders were disbanded. I studied everything that was PTO until I was a teenager just because I wanted to know everything about the places he had been. It just took off from there. Add a passion for history to a passion for games and there you go. You got a wargaming fool. Anyway, the band sounds good. It's nice to hear from another musician who is into military history and gaming.
  10. To anyone who might want to respond. Which is the best Mod Manager and why?
  11. Like Panzertruppe I am also an old ASL player. But ASL went over the top with the rules thing, so I have to say I am really an old Squad Leader player at heart. CMBO saves a lot of "book" time. Although there is a lot to be said for the competitive atmosphere of a good FtF boardgame encounter, CM has to many advantages. It certainly saves time and effort. As far as comparisons to CMBB and CMAK, to me the real beauty of this game is in the excitement of the replay. In this regard CMBO is no different than the other two versions, so I am quite happy to continue playing it.
  12. I searched the forum for a possible thread for this subject but couldn't find one. Now before anyone get's upset, be advised; I think CMBB is great. But it seems to me the weakest part of CMBB are it's sounds. Does anyone else agree, or no? I think the original CMBO sounds were better than what is on CMBB. To me that is odd considering the great improvement that was made in CMBB graphics over what was found in CMBO.
  13. I will say this before you get the chance...I am a numbnutz. Now that we have got that out of the way I'll continue on to the cruxt of the matter. I loaded MPEG Suite and I'll be damned if I can get it to make the switch. First I placed MPEG in Program files but saw in the readme that sometimes the application didn't work unless it was in C Drive so I reinstalled it. I then went to the tab "Decode mp3 2 wav.", then browsed to the unzipped mp3 files I am wanting to convert, then attempt to decode. Zip, nada, nothing. I then highlight them all and try again. Nothing. I try to doubleclick one over to the second window and decode. There I get a window that says "Decoding". I wait, wait, wait, then finally after a few minutes get tired of it and cancel, at which time I get a msg. telling me that decoding was cancelled. It can't take that long to decode one tiny file can it?? Something amiss here...I am sure it is me. What am I doing wrong. The help file really gives no instructions at all that I could see.
