  1. Nice to hear from aesopo again - I agree with you 100%. Indeed an updated SC1 (with hexes of course) sounds like a great idea. I still play SC1 with 5 opponents and all of us would love to see an upgrade. Good that Hubert still reads the SC1 forum
  2. hi Michael - When you buy SC2 you get a second download for free so you can play a friend. One of my friends shared his download one at a time with 3 of us but like your friends no one liked the game without hexes so we continue to play SC1. You can buy a download version of SC1 for around $15 - very reasonable. I do however remain hopeful that a 3rd version of SC will be made, and made with hexes like a proper war game should be.
  3. Armuss - Are you talking about the alternate sprites that make the map look a lot nicer/ I can send them to you if that's what you want
  4. Hey Bill - Nice to see you still look at this forum but your comment "most of us have moved to SC2" doesnt sound right to me. I think most of us moved to SC2 and came back to the better game here at SC1 and it is time you came back as well. Of course we can always hope for a SC3 game that will have hexes and I will meet you there.
  5. Teabag - I have a simple suggestion that other gamers have done. Simply re install your computer with windows XP. Anyone who still plays the Rise of Rome game will have found that it cannot be played on Vista so when I bought a new computer last week, I insisted on win XP, and then I got it for a cheaper price
  6. Hi there Just another wargamer!. I have already finished with SC2 and am back playing SC1 with Dozer, Roving Greek and 46th Panzer. Contact me if you would like to play. There were some good points in SC2 - but I prefer SC1. I'd love there to be an SC3 combining the best points of both games (or at least what I consider the best points of both games)

  8. Well, I tried SC2 - certainly tried it for longer than Lords of the Realm 3 but today I unlicenced it and gave it to someone else. Good to see some old friends back playing SC1 now - I am back up to 6 current games but could use some more. Hubert - if you read these posts, can I just mention a company called Ascaron - About 7 years ago they produced a great game called Port Royale. They responded to suggestions by producing (so far to my knowledge) 6 similar games. How about you do the same for SC. Some of SC2 was good, but the isometrics, large pieces and no hexes ruined the game for me (but I concede, not for others). I hope to see a SC3
  9. Well Hubert, I finally got SC2 and spent the weekend on it. Didnt really mind the lack of hexes but couldnt cope with the isometric view. Liked some of the features, but overall, for a wargamer this isnt the game. Perhaps other people will like it and given the time you spent on creating it, I certainly hope so. However, I didnt like the big pieces and the big squares. I am going back to SC1 and really hope that you might think about combining the best features of both games and produce another game for wargamers (with hexes).
  10. Is there anyone else besides me that prefers SC1 over SC2 and would like a game? Email me on gmclauchlan@bigpond.com if you want to play. Seems I am down to just 2 opponents now
  11. Nice to read your comments - generally they were well written. I was hoping to get a really dopey comment like that guy who doesnt know what rockets are for when he says he cant break through strong points. Interesting about the original patches - I didnt know about that. My 1st version was 1.06 with one patch to follow. Perhaps Hubert can work on a hex patch for his new game
  12. I read Ike's comments a bit late to add to the discussion as it is now been closed. I emailed Ike to congratulate him on his intelligent comments and he tells me that I was just one of many such emails to him. I am already resigned to Strategic Command ending - a real pity because it was such a great game. I have a group of 4 who meet at my house weekly to play games. No way would we be interested in a non hex wargame. Hubert!! - You did a superb job on SC1. Why are you wasting your time on this Tiled SC2? Listen to your potential customers. Even at this stage you can surely drop your tiled version and come up with a game that people really want. We have all been caught with poor follow up versions of games (Port Royale 2, Lords 3 AOE 3 etc). I hope SC isnt going to end up like these games.
  13. Nicely explained Bill but it would be nice if the bug could be fixed on this game. Due to a crazy decision not to use hexes I wont be playing SC2, so having it fixed there will be of no interest to me.
  14. A pause is fine, but to avoid the 4 hexes around Moscow and Stalingrad is indeed poor form. Cant remember who did that to me but he is on the list of people I wont be playing again.
  15. well - you are close, most of the time I played Roving Greek !! (Sorry henry)
