There is absolutely no reason why this game should have to be heavily patched in my view given the development time of 4 years?

Why do companies persist with this course of releasing software full of bugs and then expect the customer to pay for this - both downloading patch after patch as well as their wallets due to their inability to properly playtest the game initially?

Obviously no game is and never will be perfect and a patch or two is understandable but to require heavy patching on initial release is inexcusable for a commercial product, and could be seen as a kick in the teeth (so to speak) for your customers.

Come on BFC you're better than this I'm sure!

An example: you click on "go" and then realize one of your tanks is in a tough position and the computer is not doing what you want so, you lock on and go Manual, kind of like panzerelite.

I could be wrong but the reason you can't do this presently is because it will allow people to cheat or make decisions you wouldn't have the luxory of as in real life, at least not until any action has unfolded based on previous order/orders.

I like the current system and it adds to the fog of war of never knowing if you've made the right decision or not, just as it should be in my view. smile.gif

    Hey,

I have CMBO (one of the first!) and CMAK. I have a few questions before I get CMBB (the CMC looks like a dream).

    1. With respect to the "engine" of the game, what does CMAK have that CMBB doesn't? I know CMAK has dust and multi-turret and CMBB does not. Does CMBB have covered arcs? Does CMBB have "move to contact"? Does CMBB have trenches? What are the other changes to CMAK?

CMBB has covered arcs/move to contact/trenches.

    2. What was the big change from CMBO with respect to MG's? I remember that there was a problem with CMBO's MG's that was fixed in CMBB and CMAK. Just curious....

All I can say is there is an obvious and more realistic improvement to MG's in general, they are more deadly put it that way, as you would expect.

    3. To make CMAK more "Europe" so we can stop using CMBO are there any plans to add the "missing" vehicles to CMAK or am I just dreaming?

You are just dreaming with regard to the vehicles but the new engine is bound to include the missing vehicles I'm sure, in time at least.

    4. Last question is a designer question. When I make a battle and test-play it vs the AI with "Fog Of War" off (so I can see how AI plays) does the AI see me all the time or is it still bound by LOS?

The AI will see as much as you if FOW is turned off.

If you really want to get a feel for CMBB can I suggest you d/l the demo - all will be revealed. :D

IMHO it wouldn't be a great effort for BF to release a new CMBO based on e.g. CMAK engine. The equipment and the soldiers is almost already made?

To my knowledge there isn't going to be a new CMBO based on CMAK but there will be a new ETO game/module based on the next generation (CMx2) engine.

As for the equipment and soldiers no doubt a lot of the information gained from the trilogy of CM will be used to speed the development of the new game, as well as improving things that need to be improved.

However this is obviously just my opinion and what do I know on what's best for CM, only BFC know that - naturally!!! ;)

  5. If you purchased CMAK you will have a pdf manual on the cd and this is still relevant for CMBB, but I didn't notice a pdf manual for CMBB on my Mac version.

However CMBB comes with a nice 262 page manual so maybe that is why there is no pdf manual included with it. tongue.gif

As for CMBO this also comes with it's own 177 page manual and no pdf manual for my Mac version. The Windows version of CMBO/BB may well be different though!

Don't worry, be happy and look forward to the new CM as it's bound to be worth the wait I'm sure! :D

  7. You should d/l the demo versions for each CM if you haven't already done so to allow yourself and your brother to get a feel for the games.

They are all great games in their own way and even though CMBO is showing its age now it's a must buy still if only to support BFC and of course for the extra vehicles which a lot of people miss in CMAK.

Although to be fair CMAK doesn't include certain vehicles because they weren't actually used in MTO and it's not a developer mistake, just so you know. smile.gif

  8. Anybody know where I can find file #15 for DKs 21st Army Group (CMBO) as it doesn't appear to be available on CMMODS for some reason?

Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place but I have d/l 14 of the 24 that's supposed to be available so far and I obviously would like the whole set.

    Thanks in adavnce!

BootCamp does seem to be the best option for games from what I've heard although I expect Parallels Desktop software will improve with each version.

I also am not using an intel Mac as yet but Power PC still for the forseeable future.

The reason the press includes the details is due to the fact that the military is feeding the media and using those bits of info to sow confusion amongst the enemy. What better way to sow confusion and mistrust amongst the survivor's than to get them all paranoid against each other and commit fratricide.

There is a difference between sowing confusion annd revealing ways on how a particualr person was captured - the press in my view should never know certain things for the security of all forces in Iraq.

Why make life easier for the enemy and harder for ourselves?

I'm sure god doesn't need people like Zarqawi to do his work and I'm sure any true regligious person would be deeply angered and offended by his deeds - let alone god himself.

And also why do the tabloids always reveal the ways in which the alllies or Iraqis (lets not forget them ) managed to locate said person. i.e. " the background of Zarqawi holding a rifle was identified by such and such" do they never learn anything?

Frankly BTS's problem is they make games so much better than anything else offered, that one sale gives me more good gaming than I have time to indulge. I love 'em for it, but as a business model replay value has its drawbacks. I hope the fans it draws and the extra value people get from their freely given efforts, helps enough to make up for that. I think it has for the CM series so far.

Hence the reason why BTS has decided to take the modular approach with the new CM. While as BTS has already stated this will still allow for good gameplay we won't be spoilt as previoulsy and will probably spend 3-6 months on each module prior to purchasing the next one available.

However everyone has their own way of prolonging the length of any game and I'm sure we'll still enjoy each module as much as (the full blown CM) so to speak. :D

  13. I remember when I first discovered CM in 2002 through a demo version for BO on a cd and the initial wow factor I got.

Just seeing those American units heads being animated from side to side although simple is a great effect and still amuses me to this day smile.gif

I never realised the depth of the game until I finally understood the structure and units involved and the roles they played and I can even remember being bombared by German artillery and not realising that I had my own spotter on map to return the favour (so to speak) until after the game had almost finished :D

I continue to play the trilogy of CM to this day and it never ceases to amaze me at what this game is capable of and the new ways people find to play, and as for the amount of gameplay offered...the mind boggles

Try the demo versions for the other two games in the series (CMBB/CMAK), you might find them even cooler. ;)
