  1. OK...started to have some issues with my CMBO game (B2B was working fine after some fixes suggested here) and suddenly I'm having problems with weird transparencies with icons and barbed wire, etc. Long story short, something ended up majorly screwed up, I deleted the prefs for both editions, monkeyed around with my graphics settings and now when I start up either game, it asks for me to skip or accept the lowest setting (640 x 800 I think). Since I know this setting is very clunky, I say "skip" which then exits me to the desktop and says "cannot initialize 3d" or something to that effect. I've updated my drivers to the latest, much newer versions and am going to try DirectX 9 (8 was my last version). What do I need to do?
  2. Thanks guys...I'm going to give that a shot (it is taking a while to DL). I also went into the general video controls and downticked the rate or whatever (says to do so if you have mouse problems...I figured what the heck, it couldn't hurt) and the smallish game I played in CMBB didn't exit once. Don't think the General (read=wife) is going to allow me to requisition a whole new PC for a game...but you never know!
  3. Hey there...love the game, but it is exiting to the desktop quite frequently. I don't think there is a specific action causing this, but at times it seems to be when I move the mouse. I have a MS IntelliMouse trackball, updated and disarmed for CMBB (haven't actually tried a "standard" mouse) am running on Windows 98, with an Optiquest monitor...I don't know exactly what my video card is...IntelĀ®810 Chipset Graphics Driver PV 2.1? Or MPU-401? Sorry...having a hard time locating what exactly is my Vid card... Also, is there supposed to be an intro movie in CMBB, because I don't get one. Just music and the standard book cover still shot. [ July 13, 2003, 07:09 PM: Message edited by: Major Disappointment ]
  4. I've made my purchases, with heavy emphasis on the SK's and Hetzer (x2) and Nashorn and one other armored unit I can't remember right now. As soon as I get the setup back, I'll post what I bought and see what you think...my opponent is very good and really creamed me last time...87-13. I lost nearly all of my armor early on against him because I tend to be a bit on the aggressive/impatient side. This time I'm going to be much more conservative. I'll definitely refer to your post in the future...and I'll keep y'all posted on this one I'm in now...could be interesting.
  5. Thanks, Laxx. Good ideas there, especially on the SC selection. As I'm going to be in a Meeting Engagement I need to focus on movement to objectives and mobility in general a bit more than ambush, unless I rush to the flags and decide to withstand inevitable shelling. 2000 points buys a lot, I just want to find the "ultimate" combo! Haven't really paid much attention to the Hetzer or Nashorns...usually go with the Tiger or Panzer...but sheer numbers is always good, too!
  6. I'm playing a group of people and got totally pasted in my first turn as the Allies vs. the Germans. Now it is time for some payback! Pound for pound, what are the best troops to spend your points on, including armor, arty and support? The map will be medium, points set at 2000, time period, trees, etc. are all open to suggestion. Meeting engagement...I'm particularly interested in infantry selections and armor. Thanks in advance!
