  1. Eagerly awaiting CMSF! Greatly enjoying CMAK over the past year - superb buy for 19.99 CDN!
  2. Hope CMC will be available at the retail level in Canada!
  3. Mississauga, Ontario Canada - western neighbour of Toronto and 3rd largest Ontario population after Toronto & Ottawa. Go LEAFS !!!
  4. Canada's largest electronics chain, Future Shop, is advertising in its national flyer (to Nov.20), CMBB SE for $39.99. As we're talking Canadian $s, this is the lowest retail price I've seen! I picked up my copy yesterday morning - there were only 2 copies left. They also had 2 copies of CMBO SE for $44.99. This is an historical event as I don't ever recall Future Shop ever advertising a bona fide wargame! (Not since Panzer General, anyways.)
  5. Really surprised no one has mentioned the Steel Panthers series yet. Until I was finally able to buy CMBO retail, I was totally addicted to the Steel Panthers games (6 versions; 3 currently supported and free downloads from SP enthusiasts - go to The Wargamer site for discussion).
  6. CMBO has had no affect on my marriage as I have been wargaming on computers since 1983 (Commodore64; PC since 1992). Tried to get my wife interested in wargaming in the late '70s - after one agonizing game of "Yalu-The Chinese Counteroffensive in Korea", she now happily leaves me alone with my hobby. The teenagers are just as absorbed with their Bioware and Sir-Tech RPGs. The younger one is a veteran of 2 generations of the General series and vows to challenge me in CMBO this summer.
  7. I would assume if you had skipped the night turn, your reinforcements would still be placeable to where your front line is. It's just that if you DO NOT skip the night turn, you have an extra turn to try to further advance your front line. Is that clear? Someone correct me if I'm wrong - I've only had the game for less than 2 weeks. Still getting the hang of it - after 8 years of numerous versions of Steel Panthers.
  8. Lazysack, I forgot to mention that if you like Canadian missions, go to Michael Dorosh's excellent site at www.canadiansoldiers.com/combatmission/combatmission.htm . His downloadable scenario.zip is jammed packed with Canadian action goodies. I'm currently playing the Little Stalingrad operation which portrays the 1st Canadian Division taking Ortona, Italy (Dec.43) from German Paratroopers. It's an intense house-to-house grinding 7-day operation of which I'm only on day 2 currently. To answer your question re: night turn - I decided not to skip in this situation (night of Day 1) since there is no advantage in losing a one turn opportunity to advance further and pound enemy positions with artillery. It really depends on the individual situation. If you are low on manpower, you may want to skip a night turn if there is a chance of reinforcements the following day.
  9. The beauty of CMBO:SE is that it runs well on older machines. I don't have to fight the other 2 gamers in my family for the newest P4 as CMBO runs on the 2 older machines; a P200mmx with 8MB Voodoo 2 (slow on large scenarios) and P2 450 with stuck on 4MB ATI Rage Pro. I too am a Canadian who refuses to deal with the exchange rate and Canada Customs delays and random application of the GST. Luckily I'm a mile away from 2 EBgames across the road from each other. I will definitely buy the retail copy of CMBB when it comes out.
  10. CMBO surpasses the Steel Panthers franchise in pure wargaming pleasure! Got the last copy at the local EBgames store one week ago - totally addicted now. Thank you Battlefront for creating such a masterpiece and for finally allowing retail distribution. Been a board wargamer since 1961 (anyone remember '1863' from Life magazine & distributed by Parker Bros.?) and computer wargamer since the early 80s (e.g. Combat Leader on C64) - I have never played such a realistic and gratifying wargame as CMBO! Is there any chance of a CM: Modern Battles being produced after the North African sequel?
