  1. What a war gaming year the later part of this year and 07 is going to be! I followed this game as many on this forum did over on the codemasters forum. For some reason I didn't get it until I saw Megakill's name. Most of what was said on the Codemaster's forum has already been touched here and I am glad to see the battlefront team being passionate about the game. I hope to see in this one or the next releases expansion of the game atmosphere. For example there appears to be a large unplayable area which could be used to show "other action" going on that will continue to immerse the player into the game. I see this used such as if you are part of a larger battle. For example D-day or the battle around Stalingrad or Kursk. As you are trying to complete your task more action is happening around you in the distance to really get you into the game like this is part of a grander scheme. A second request is more unique scenerios. Just as supply drops, paratrooper drops, river crossings under heavy air attack, beach landings, night attacks, commando raids. These also took place in WW2 and would add more flavor to the game. Thanks to Battlefront for publishing the game. Also to the developers in the fortitude needed to keep believing.
  2. What the f**k no pacific war they bombed our asses for gods sake. The Japanese are who got us into WW 2 in the first place. Life is not worth living if Combat Mission will not take me to Tarawa or Guadalcanal you may as well shoot me to the Moon. LOL!! I just needed to post that for some pre holiday stress. Inlaws are coming to town. But seriously I hope the developers reconsider!
  3. Thanks Moon for the response and I am glad it will be at least a consideration for the next engine. I think this game is definitely the most realistic tactical 3D wargame out on the market bar none and I am very grateful over the hardwork the team has done.
  4. I guess that I have been a bit surprised by the negative comments regarding the campaign aspect. I feel that it is a natural progression of the Combat Mission series. We have the individual missions for those that like to play smaller parts of the game and then operations for a more in depth battle. I would favor as has been mentioned targeted campaigns such as the Winter war or a campaign for example covering the invasion of Poland or France. You would have a choice or maybe no choice in picking a particular unit and depending on how you performed you would receive reinforcements or if you performed badly the campaign would end. For example, you receive a report at the start of the invasion of Poland of your intended path. You review your units for battle and a map comes up that has an objective explained to you in the briefing. You have to take a road the will be a supply route. If you succeed you receive supplies and reinforcements if you fail you may be relieved of command or transfered elsewhere. You could have a series of historically linked battles that cover a certain time period and thus your performance affects what happens next. You get the feeling of being in the grander scale in a good historical setting. I do think this would appeal to many wargamers.
  5. no the game is not a ripoff of combat mission. It is a game dealing with WW 2 in a campaign format and it includes the entire European War from Poland, Eastern Front and Western Front. Graphics are unlike anything I have ever seen in a wargame and the playable map is much smaller than combat mission. the units gain experience as you progress. Everything I have mentioned combat mission does not have. I have of course not seen the new combat mission engine. I believe both games will compliment each other and also one last point is that the wartime command is in a real time format. Beyond that details are still forthcoming. Check out the forum for more details.
  6. why not work on a campaign mode. Combat Mission makes great missions and operations are a step ahead and now progress to a campaign model especially if the next game is to be about the early part of the war. Based on how you do on a particular mission you receive reinforcements your units gain experience which should factor into their effectiveness and progress until you are "reassigned" or are victorous. Medals would be awarded and maybe for example if you do well in the Polish campaign can help spearhead the attack on Norway or France. In my opinion for the combat mission games to contiue their great success they must improve graphics which the new engine is doing, implement more realism which new engine is apparently doing and add more variety like a campaign system. Once this is mastered then what elvis is talking about may not seem so impossible.
  7. My came in from South Carolina but my wife trying to be funny hid my copy until much later. I had given up today but it sounds great and getting ready to jump in. Great game!!
  8. Very nice background artillery sounds. Very sharp and clear and this is on my work computer LOL not my home computer. Graphics look a bit sharper and this weekend will be spending some serious time on it for any change in gameplay from the previous two. Great job and can't wait to preorder the game tonight.
  9. Thanks for the response Steiner and as for the readme comment the mods I downloaded had no readme file or was not copied correctly so it is difficult to figure something out when you have no directions.
  10. I noticed that sound mods on www.cmmods.com are in a mp3 format but the combat mission files are i believe in a .wav format. Is there some type of conversion that is needed because I am unsure. Thanks
  11. I see that CMBB is going retail in about 1 week. I read in a past post that it will be a 2 CD release and I would like to know what will be on the 'bonus' CD. New Missions? Mods? etc. Thank you.
  12. sorry I didn't scroll down far enough. I will stick to the general forum.
  13. Looking forward to the New Combat mission game but a new wargame from codemasters "Battlefield Command" looks very good. It will be interesting how this new game will affect the new engine that Combat Mission is developing!
