  1. I felt the scenario was fine for head to head play. You disagree - fine

Wait a minute - I never said it wasn't fine for head to head play!

    In fact I said

Nothing wrong with that at all

Any problems I'm having getting killed in this scenario are, as usual, of my own making :) I was just trying to find out what trees you were talking about! :o (Because the briefing has specific instructions about trees).

  2. I guess there will always be different opinions on this can of worms.

FWIW, I don't think it makes sense to say "designing against AI" or "designing for H2H" is more difficult. Both have significant, but different, challenges.

However, it is perfectly fair to ask "is this scenario designed to be balanced for H2H?", where balanced means "each side has a reasonable chance of winning, for equally skilled opponents". This is the goal of designing a good H2H scenario (aside from historical varietes).

AND it is fair to answer with "it is balanced only for highly skilled opponents - it will not be balanced if both players are weak - it requires good tank skills to win as Germans, but if both players have good skills, the Germans can win".

Which is what I'm hearing about this scenario?

Nothing wrong with that at all (except that I don't have good skills and I'm getting whupped! ;) )

  3. I don't understand the comment about the Germans being able to get into the trees.

Access to the shore VL is completely blocked for the German vehicles... in my H2H game I made the rush to this location as advised in the briefing, and managed to overlook that blockage until too late. Now I have whole inf and supporting AFVs trapped down in that little area with Russian tanks on the other side of the rail and in the yellow field on other side of the lake picking me off... there are lots of tricky terrain features in this map, that's for sure!

(It was also a surprise that inf can't go under the rail bridge - I would have loved to pop through under there and made an inf assault on the first Russian tank that set up there!)

  4. I'm glad that got sorted. From the few reports of this sort of thing, I can see it's not quite perfect yet, but at least it's workable :) I'll get to the bottom of that at some point.

FWIW, I also just uploaded 1.1.2, with a fix that means you don't have to restart after changing dropbox folder location (not that this is something that happens very often anyhow).

Thanks for the reminder also about opening the game browse dialog in the right place. It got broken with all that same "dropbox root" hassle. I have a note in the code saying "Fix this up" :) I better do that :)

  5. Oh no! BF would never do that! The graphic is drawn from a real live horse, standing up; then computer wizardry tips it through 90 degrees to make it LOOK like it's lying down ... :D

I have to say - this is precisely how it looks. Interestingly, catching myself whinging here, I googled to see what dead horses do look like.... and freshly dead horses without external injuries do look a lot like this one. Except for some reason their necks always seem to be extended. Huh!

  6. Ahhh ... but which of the two do you have? And which do you think I have? :D

If you have a dropbox game going, you can find out what your oppo has by using right-click->Properties on the game.

It won't explicitly say that they have CMH or H2HH (I better do that), but you can tell from the version number that it gives you.

  7. Yeah - in CMH I made it "always autoupdate" and threw away the refresh button. I did this when I was relaying out the display, so I didn't have to mess with "how do I get this single button positioned nicely when the window changes size?" :)

If anyone has a good reason for not using autoupdate, I can always put a refresh back... but I'd like to first figure out why autoupdate is not the universal solution before doing that.

    Cheers,

  8. Hey all,

There is a "CMRT" category at CMMODS now.

Folk who already uploaded mods under some other game type can go to

"Your Stuff" -> "Your Mods" and use the "edit" link on each Mod to change its game type.

Folk downloading these mods: don't forget to click on the nice friendly yellow button in the top right. CMMODS costs me monthly for storage and bandwidth; there's currently no risk of me making a profit on your donation...

    Thanks,

    GaJ
