  1. Thanks for the replies! I'm going to try the demo soon, but I wanted to see what the community thought about it too. I just recently got CMAK to run on my computer again, and so I have been busy "modding it up" and enjoying my favorite turn based combat game all over again. I hope I don't get so used to the new graphics in shock force that I don't want to go back to CMx1 though, ha. Are there plans to go back to the second world war with this engine? PS. I liked ST:Enterprise
  2. I bought a geforce gtx 260 about a week ago, and decided about two hours ago to pop CMAK in just to see what would happen. Turns out it works, I just got done playing a scenario. I am running vista ultimate, and it does take the machine quite a while to read the CD to install...but once I got in game is was just like old times. I didn't expect this since my 8800gts wouldn't play the game. So if you're using one of the newer cards, you might want to install CMAK and see what happens.
  3. Did they ever fix the TCP/IP bug, where you capture an enemy crew member and it screws up?
  4. This may not be appropriate since this is a gaming forum dedicated to a WWII game, but some of you have displayed a wealth of military history knowledge. There are also other avenues of information gathering, but I thought I would try this one. I have a grandfather who served in WWI, and I was doing some genealogy stuff. The only info I have is from a newspaper article and a few other small things. Here is what I know. He was in: the U.S. Army, Company L, 30th Infantry, 3rd Division fought in: Champagne, Chateau-Thierry Campaign, Marne, Verdun 2 questions 1. 30th Infantry – was this a battalion or what? 2. Chateau-Thierry was a campaign, but what about the others? Campaigns or battles? If battles, in what campaign? edit: July 14, 1917 – Chateau- Thierry drive began. Company L started with 250 men, and lost 221. Only 17 of those survived. Anyone know if this is accurate?
  5. Hey, dont defend them . To me realism isnt having to fire 20+ rounds into a guys chest to kill/incapacitate him because hes got the bullet proof kevlar on. The ad should read "Acrade style play with real world weapons!!!". I just dont understand why realism isnt fun for others. [ June 26, 2005, 02:46 PM: Message edited by: tacitrain ]
  6. Dont say CS isnt supposed to be realistic, they acknowledge its "realism" every chance they get. This is right off the main site: "Engage in a realistic brand of counter-terrorist warfare in this popular team-based game." I hate arcade realism games that have a real world theme and claim to be realistic, whether its FPSs or RTSs. I dont think ill ever understand why games like Red Orchestra(a realistic WWII FPS mod) dont have a big following, yet games like CS have thousands of players. I guess players that enjoy realism are just in the minority. I dont know whats wrong with me, but if there isnt some realistic angle in a game I just tune out. Im not even interested in the new Battlefield 2 game. I got suckered into BF:1942 and BF:V, and they were only fun because my entire guild was playing too. I want to punch every CS fanatic right in the face!!! ok...im done ranting. Just had to get that out.
  7. Anyone know which port multiplayer uses so I can allow it through my router? I used to know it, but I just cant seem to remember.
  8. A friend of mine regularly plays against me in TCP/IP matches. I play the Germans, and he plays as the Americans. I usually create the maps we play, they arent grand, but they do fine for private play. I try to make them as balanced as possible, overall. The main question I have is: What is a good American armor match for a Tiger tank? on our last map, one of my tigers totally ran over 2 76mm shermans and about 3 AT guns.(76mm at 700m, and 2 57mm at much closer range) He also had a bazooka guy throw 6 arounds into a Tiger/Elefant with no kill. I usually play with Stug III F/8s, against 75mm shermans. However, Iv been wanting to play with some heavier armor, but it just doesnt seem fair. Ill try panthers next, but I would like some input on what you guys think about using tigers.
  9. What is the light radio car for? What does it do?
  10. Mother's Side: my grandfather served in the US navy on the aircraft carrier USS Munda. His brother(my great uncle) served in the Air Force and was a tail gunner in a B-24. somewhat off topic: My great grandfather served in the 3rdID in WWI, and was hit by a sniper. He survived though, the bullet hit his gun and traveled down and hit him in the thumb. He was one of only 7 or so in his platoon to make it out of the argonne forest. Father's side: Grandfather was a sherman tank commander in europe near the end of the war. Grandmother was a spotlight and radar operator for the Nazi army. Her father was a master gun smith and made gun barrels for the Germans in WWII. He was also a sniper in WWI, his favorite pastimes included sniping the tea pots of french soldiers. And no he didnt shoot my other great grandfather. [ January 14, 2004, 06:15 PM: Message edited by: tacitrain ]

  13. About how many sherman platoons were there? in a major operation, about how many tanks would be there?
  14. anyone who watches Family Guy knows about the dreaded "Leafers"!
  15. Is there any kind of tcp/ip problem with CMBB? Is the problem from cmbo gone?
  16. I got to turn 5 before the game crashed on my opponent's computer, he captured one of my crews. Does anyone know of a tcp/ip patch that is player made(i can do tcp/ip, but it crashes when you capture an enemy crew)? Would 50% fanatics make crews more willing to die or run instead of surrender? Playing over email just takes too long, it takes the fun out of it when your sitting in the same room with your enemy. [ September 03, 2003, 04:24 PM: Message edited by: tacitrain ]
  17. http://www.the-proving-grounds.com/scenario_details_link.html?sku=27 so, what am i doing wrong? Besides not making a historic battle.
  18. i thought about playing the game through the TV set and recording the action with a vcr. yea, i guess thats kinda crummy though.
  19. deutsches museum in Munich was pretty neat, I got my picture taken next to an ME 262 and a BF109. Its only Air and Sea vehicles though. It was still damn cool. The Castles were bad ass too. Oh, and the Glockenspiel. and the hofbrauhaus. [ July 21, 2003, 05:36 PM: Message edited by: tacitrain ]
