  1. The scenarios for the tournament will also allow a designer to make a scenario that is not restricted by points but by size. Up to a battalion on each side. With 10 vehicles counting as a company. Support weapons and engineer obstaccles/fortifications not counting in the total. So whether you want 2 companies of King Tigers and Company of PG, or 3 companines of recon infantry the scenario will be good. Points is not the issue but the number of units in the fight. Since normal support weapons like LMG, Snipers, HMG, etc....belong to a company sized unit they will not be counted either. Now if you decide to put in 500 HMG's along with 3 companies of infantry I'm pretty sure that won't fly....but if you do the normal allotment of 3-6 HMG's per company I'm pretty sure that will. The judges will determine what makes it into the tournament. If for some unforseen reason there is an issue the judges can't resolve I will resolve it. Show off your skills! The scenarios can be about anything. And whether or not the scenarios are chosen you will get good experience and feedback from some very experienced judges. You will get direct feedback if you send in a scenario. The feedback may be as simple as, "this is too big, cut a company on the Soviet side". Or it may be something like, " the map is a bit too small and you need to add 3 turns." Whatever it is we will get back with you. We want good quality scenarios and the way to get them is support your scenario making efforts. Remember...you have until the last day of February to get those scenarios to me! Be careful who you use as playtesters! If the person you use as a playtester may enter the tournament and end up playing it again. That is not what we want. If you need playtesters let me know. PC
  2. Yes, the scenarios should be balanced. The tournament uses standard CM scoring. Whatever is on the AAR page as a result is what you get in the tournament. The judges have from 1 March to 5 June to work with the designers on play balance and these guys are VERY GOOD designers/playtesters. They come from several different CM sites around the web and are some of the best in the CM community. Any other questions? PC
  3. Yes, the scenarios need to be balanced. No, you can't send the scenarios directly to the judges. Yes, the judges have been chosen already. We will give you until the last day of February to work on the scenarios. Then the judges will get to look over them, pick which of those they like best, and work with the designers on play balance. KOTH2 scoring is by CM standards. You win or lose by what CM says you've done. If CM says you got a draw then we go to points. If the points are EXACTLY the same then you get a draw. Otherwise somebody wins. However you want your scenario to play out is up to you. Whether, or not, the judges will select it for the tournament, I can't say. That will depend on several things: 1) The number of scenarios entered. 2) The balance of the scenarios in the judges eyes. 3) The number of rounds in the scenario, which is determined by the number of gamers that enter the tournament. Balance will have a large part in whether the scenario gets picked or not. However the judges for this tournament are all very experienced. Many of them top designers themselves and they should be able to offer excellent suggestions for play balance. Anything else? PC
  4. Send the scenario directly to me. sro_cm@yahoo.com The judges will get them 1 March. Good Hunting. PC
  5. King of the Hill 2 Tournament Scenarios Here you go, you great CM scenario designers, all the specifics about the contest. All scenarios must be new. No scenarios that have been posted to public sites will be accepted. This is simply so that all players see the scenarios for the first time in the tournament. No more than 40 turns and the turn limit being set to a specific number not variable ending. No larger than a battalion per side. I don't care how you mix and match, I want no more than a battalion, that is 3 companies, per side! I consider 10 vehicles to be a company. All scenarios for the first round should be recieved by me no later than 28 February 2007. On 1 March 2007, they go to the judges, so they can pick which ones go into first round. Those not chosen for the first round will be automatically considered for the second round. There may be possible suggestions made for playbalance at that time. Those designers that submit scenarios for the tournament cannot play in the tournament. Sorry guys, you don't get to play your own scenarios in the tournament. I look forward to your work. Have it to me no later than 28 February 2007. Send it to: sro_cm@yahoo.com Good Luck and Good Hunting. PC

  8. Scenario Submissions for The Proving Grounds tournament, The King Of The Hill 2: The scenarios should not be larger than a battalion per side. However you want to mix that up you can. Engineer fortifications do not count towards that. There is no point total that we are looking for.. just scenarios that are not too big and will play on most machines. No longer than 40 turns and the turn limit set not variable. The designer can change that later if they want. The scenarios for the tournament will be picked by a panel of 10 judges. If you're interested in being a judge let me know. If your scenario is selected for play you cannot play in the tournament. The scenario can be either in CMAK or CMBB. It can be fiction, semi-historical or historical. Your choice! Send them to me directly. Send them to: sro_cm@yahoo.com You must be a member of The Proving Grounds to submit scenarios for the contest. Good Luck and Good Hunting. PC

  11. The T-34 and KV's should also be much less effective offensively. According to Zaloga there was almost no AP ammo available for the new gun when the war started. That in most early war engagements they went into battle with little or no AP ammo and half their normal ammo allotment. Which of course means HE.
  12. For those that like tough battles against the AI, or those that think the AI can't, or won't fight, then here is another one for you! Check out HSG EW Objective Berlin at The Scenario Depot II. You can change the course of history. On 11 April 1945, a combat force from the 2nd Armored Division overlooked the Schonebeck bridge on the Elbe River. Only 56 miles from Berlin, the Americans were closer that the Russians. 11 hours after capturing this bridge the Americans could be at Berlin! In real life that bridge was blown up and the American drive on Berlin was stopped. Will history repeat itself here or will you be able to get the bridge? The scenario has proven tough for the playtesters from TPG! As it should. The Americans lost the bridge! This is a TOUGH FIGHT if the computer is given a CEB of at least a +2. It has been beaten at a +2CEB, it has not been beaten at a +3CEB! Good luck on your attempt to capture the bridge commander! The score doesn't matter, only if you get the victory flags on the bridge(You must capture the bridge!!)...any other result...YOU LOSE!!
  13. ROFL!!!! Well taken John! I can't wait to see how well "you're" going to do in the battle to win a KC!!! Thanks for the tips on my grammar and spelling. I hope to have to give you tips on how to survive in Normandy!!
  14. Well your right, it should read Unterscharfuhrer. Not sure how that abbreviated mess ended up here...thanks for catching it... And now substituting for Mr. Picky again go download it and try it!! Do you have what it takes to win the Knight's Cross or do you just correct people in their posts?
  15. Finally, the first ever Knight's Cross scenario for CMAK is now available at TSDII... http://www.the-scenario-depot.com/index.html HSG KC Untscfhr Barkmann, is about Unterscharfuhrer Ernst Barkmann of the 2nd SS Panzer Division winning his Knight's Cross. One of the best tank commanders of WWII Barkmann, who became famous for his stand at what became known as, "Barkmann's Corner". But it wasn't for this feat that he won the KC. Many think it was, but my research shows that he won it later in the day, as he lead a force of trapped soldiers out of the pocket he found himself caught in. Can you lead your men to safety? Do you have what it takes to win the KC? We'll soon see won't we.... Don't make too much of this first one being from the SS. It was just the first one that balanced out. There are several others in the works and some of them are nearing completion that are not from the SS. [ July 16, 2006, 06:23 PM: Message edited by: Panther Commander ]
  16. I met an SS Major one time. In either late 1974 or early 1975. He would tell you was an ex-SS Major. He hated just about everything and everyone. Americans, Russians, British... I guess I can't remember him hating Canadians. That in itself is interesting. You ever meet a real Nazi, face to face, and you'll have no doubts about why WWII was fought.
  17. Gee, you're welcome. I'm in the middle of the first one. Trying to do the exit.
  18. I would recommend to you that you number your scenarios and identify the series in some way. That would avoid all confusion about which scenarios belong where and which ones should be played in what order. For instance: JC U1 Opening Day Your scenarios, your Operation Uranus series scenario one and then the name. [ May 14, 2006, 07:02 AM: Message edited by: Panther Commander ]
  19. Go here and upload away... http://www.the-scenario-depot.com/index.html
  20. If you are looking for a large tank battle that will blow the monitor off your desk try HSG KH Bloody Road! I have yet to see any game played on it that the results have been less than 70 knocked out AFV's on the field. Most of the time it is over 100 lost vehicles!! Beware, this scenario ROCKS!! You can get it at: http://www.the-scenario-depot.com/index.html Enjoy...
  21. Looks good. Lining up some opponents now. Trying to decide if I should play them all with the same person or branch out some...decisions, decisions, decisions...
  22. There was no readme file attached to the scenario. Not sure if you overlooked adding it or if you intended the players get it directly from you. The other possibility is that it is included with the pack. But since you have the scenarios listed separately on TPG the readme file is not present. Just a heads up. Nothing to get excited about. I want to play them in order for you so that you get the progression of PT's in the same order that you put it together.
  23. Okay, I'll start there. What is the order of the scenarios? I am assuming that they follow an order but that it doesn't necessarily have to be followed. When I did the 3rd Armored Division scenario campaign I made each a stand alone scenario even though they represented a progression of the division through the war. Is that the case with your operations as well?
  24. Jason, sorry if this has been posted someplace and I missed it; What is the order of your scenario packs? As far as I can see they aren't given an identifiable order. I would like to play the first one in the either the 1st SS or the 5th GTA. Do you need a playtest on either of them more than the other? I'll be glad to give one a H2H run through. If you have no particular one that needs it I will more than likely do the 5th GTA.
  25. I have done that very thing with my 3rd Armored Division series. It was so well recieved that I have some other divisions now in the process of being done that way. I think you'll like the results of a scenario campaign.
