  1. This is a superb explanation and will make many of us old(er) gamers far less wary of the letters "RTS" when we see them. My problem with the RTS genre (including pinnacles of the genre such as Warcraft III, Rise of Nations and their ilk) has always been that I'm never able to keep up with the clickfest (especially when playing against the computer) that they turn into as your rapidly try to balance assult and resource development and handling peons etc etc. ToW is going to be superb.
  2. Uh, um, where do we take this thread from here? The possibilities are kinda, uh ... is "disturbing" the right word?
  3. Actually, I meant to ask exactly what Megakill answered. Although I do appreciate (but won't likely use) the otehr methods.
  4. Thanks Martin for taking the time.
  5. I may have missed this, but did Salkin's question ever get answered? Will there be a mechanism by which we can adjust the "difficulty settings" of a scenario to allow for weaker/fewer or stronger/more enemies or "better" troops (given my own often lack of competence)?
  6. Nope. I can't even copy the file off the CD. The disk is, now that I really look at it, kinda scrathed up a bit with wear and one of the markings ont eh CD may be the problem. I may wind up emailing Battlefront directly and ask about the cost of a replacement if I can't find the 5003.wav file. Thanks, David Janik-Jones
  7. I'll give that a try and let you know. Many thanks for the help. Now if I only understood this XP operating system as well as I know OSX things would be even better David
  8. The specific .wav file won't even copy normally. I'm going to try an install on my work machine then see if I can move the file ver the network to my laptop (the new one). Then delete my work install of course. Does copying everything into a new directory actually work as an install? Thanks for the help. David
  9. I just bought a new XP laptop (a screaming one) after 17 years of Mac use (sold my G4). Fortunately one of my favourite games (CMBO) came on a cross-platform disc (thank you Battlefront and also Blizzard). I can't get the "00005003.wav" file to install correctly from my CD. It errors out. Even just copying the files all over into a new directory on my laptop doesn't work. The above .wav file won't copy. Matt, et al. Should I just email the disc back for replacement (it's clean and unscratched) or is the above .wav file available for download somehwre (assuming the copying the files from CD works on Windows ... 17 years of Mac expereinece doesn't help me installing stuff). Regards, David Janik-Jones
