  1. Okay, I confused--I have been awaiting the title and release date of the promised WW2 module and I see that you are releasing another modern war add on? Hey! Why is this happening? When can we expect an announcement on the WW2 module so I can start playing BFC games again? Strange, I am ready to pre-order CM2 WWII and Les Grognards and all I do is wait. I tried the CMSF demo and tried to get into it but could not. Oh well, I guess I'll look forward to buying from other game companies (Empire Total War and East India Company as example).
  2. Seems like I am the only Philly fan here at the forum. That's okay--seems like the METS fans are silent! Woo-hoo!
  3. And now...PHILLIES ARE 2008 WORLD CHAMPIONS!
  4. I grew up in North Philadelphia. It took me 20 minutes to walk to Connie Mack Stadium. I was seven years old when the Phillies blew their seven game lead in 1964. I still remember the Philadelphia Bulletin (now defunct) showing all of the World Series tickets that had to be destroyed due to their collapse. Gene Mauch was a great manager who panicked. My heroes then were Johnny Callison, Rich Allen, Tony Taylor, Cookie Rojas, Chris Short and Jim Bunning. It cost 25 cents to sit in the bleachers. Going to the Phillies games was the only time I got to spend time with my father. My father never was close to me but we had the Phillies. These are the only fond memories I have of Dad. I remember the 1980 Phillies and was walking down Broad Street with my lifelong friend Paul. Mike Schmidt said at the rally at old JFK stadium "take this championship and savor it". This team had Pete Rose, Steve Carlton (Lefty) Garry Maddox, Greg Luzinski and Larry Bowa. Now I find myself one win away from a World Championship. I have not been able to add "World Champions" behind any Philadelphia team since 1983. At that time I was young--26 years old. I am no longer a young man. May God allow me one more triumphant jaunt down Broad Street. GO PHILLIES!
  5. Phillies up 1-0! Three wins away...
  6. Well, the Worth Playing File Front link (?) worked after the second attempt. Back to the game...
  7. Sheesh! I had to quit the Gamers Hell download because I was growing cobwebs! I then tried the Worth playing link to patch v1.10.0.81 and I hit download...then I get the File Front(!) link? OK, try again. I just got Dell to replace my malfunctioning new rig and now am going through this long process of just getting to the game. Sigh...
  8. Just tried to D/L the uber-patch from Filefront. While at the 13 minute mark i get the "verifying download.." message. I then have my pc allow the download and wait ten minutes. Five more minutes and still nothing. I am now trying the Gamers Hell link. 170 KB speed. Gamers Hell is slow as hell!
  9. While waiting for all of the pending new games I picked up John Tillers' Campaign Series from Matrix. I played these games ten years ago and once the newer OS couldn't run them I sold off my copies. Guess what?--I'm thoroughly enjoying this obsolete series again. Matrix did a good job by adding new units and rules options. The game is slow as hell but fun. Back to the future for me...
  10. Son of Hamchuck--thanks for the tweakguide link! This has cured two of my problems!
  11. Well, I am now going to give it another go after the uninstall/reinstall. I am also having problems using WINRAR with my new pc. It won't let me extract these files from the wizard (access denied messqage despite my being the administrator). So I have to play around and move around these files until they do extract SOMEWHERE, then I copy and paste. Yep, I must be screwing up somewhere. Oh well, live and learn. I almost expected this when i started my mod effort. Price you pay I guess. Any further help will be greatly appreciated!
  12. My pc with Vista 32 bit had a problem with the current version install. At the end of the installation I received "Installation may not have installed correctly" message. "May not have..."? There were two subsequent questions: "Yes, installed correctly--continue" and "No, not installed correctly--cancel" questions (not verbatim but this was the gist of the error message). I chose Yes, and played a bit of the US campaign. I saw the "JSH..." written on the loading screen and played normally. however, later that day I went back to ToW and the saved campaign was not visible. I did have the saved battle (Last Chance) saved and it was listed, but that gave me a CTD after the game loaded. Any idea what could have caused this? If you want to move this post to the mod forums, fine, I just hope I don't encounter a similar problem with the next version. I am now doing an unistall/reinstall.
  13. Check that, I just tried to run another battle and that also CTD. I will have to do an unistall/reinstall of Tow now. My JSH mod may have a bug.
  14. pdp ita--Thanks. my first try failed, my WinRAR extractor is telling me that the mission "TOW - Scenario - Kursk Attack on Bobrik Designed for TOW Ver. 1.10.0.81" file is corrupt. Hmmm, I get a CTD when trying to run it. Does this have anything to do with the JSH mod I wonder? I am trying another battle and see if my problems persist.
  15. Nobody can tell me how to install battles and campaigns from CMMODS?
  16. Hey Guys, now that I am back into ToW full tilt I need help installing the numerous mods, battles and campaigns available over at CMMODS. I do have SOME experience modding CM but the ToW folder is a bit more busy than that. So, can any of you forum crawlers give me a step by step instructions for mods (skins), battles and campaigns? I will appreciate any help that's given. If there is a mod converter that's makes this easier (example : JSME installer) please inform me of this. That will speed up the learning process.
  17. If I can't run it, I won't buy it. That ends up a lose-lose situation for everyone.
  18. I would also suggest setting the Difficulty setting to Easy. At least this will help you get through a campaign. It worked for me, but now I am getting spanked at the Medium level. Yep, learning curve is a bit steep.
  19. JDski--Cool! Tried that and that also works. Pretty soon I will have to tinker with some mods. After letting this game sit on my shelf for more than a year I must say I am back playing it often. Hey, I enjoy it now. I guess it took a while to realize it just ain't CM--never was supposed to be. I concede that it is a bit "clickfesty" at times but fun. Looking forward to ToW2.
  20. Yep, how I miss CMBB. Please let this work with my Vista OS!
  21. Ilikepie: Yep, figured that out. However, I find that I must delete my old save files if I want my new file to show up. That seems strange, but at least I can save the games. Now if I can only figure out how to win! Thanks!
  22. I did that, but maybe I did it wrong. trying again... Ilkipie, thanks for your help. Yep, i'm playing ToW on a 32-bit Vista but fear my ATI 3870 card is not up to snuff...
  23. Guys, just got back into ToW after purchasing a new pc. I am enjoying myself but I cannot for some reason save a game. I hit escape-Save--and try to enter a new title. That works but then I cannot get the flashing cursor to get into the next couple of boxes (date and time played). I even try to rename the game but still can't get anything saved. When I hit load game I only see the original game with the time at 0:00:00(?). What am I doing wrong? I have tried many things, but as soon as I hit Save game (sometimes I get an overwriting message) the game reverts back to the game in progress. If I try to stop, then re-load the new Save Game file i still end up with the Game start file. Advice?
