  1. Great, great job. I'll take 'em all! I find myself swapping mods every so often for a change of pace. My CMBB file is starting to suck up all of my memory! Good. That's what it's for. :D You said you do requests? Really? Uh-oh, that may be a can of worms...I have been searching for a non-cmmos SPW251/2 dusty, dirty mod for some time. This halftrack appears in many early war scenarios, and I find its omission curious. If you are accepting requests, should I post them them here or send to you via email? I don't think "modslut" is a strong enough word to convey my enthusiasm for mods, "mod maniac" seems more accurate. Great work, I look forward to all of your future projects.

  2. I just double-checked the 'base, and there is no winter S-35. Wah! Wah! I...want one...can I have one please...I find out what mods I need every time I check out a new scenario. This S-35 would come in handy for the very good "Gebirgsjager To Murmansk" scenario. I guess I'm confused by your caption on top of the R-35, as it says: "Somua/Hotchkiss/Renault R-35..." Is there a winter S-35 in the works?

  3. I never responded to this posts because I think I had just joined the forum at around the same time of this original posting. Yes, I use many of your mods--thanks! I especially enjoy these rusty winter mods. Question, are ALL of these mods available at the CMMOD database? I can't find the French tanks--yeah, I DO wear glasses! :D I have given up on CMMOS. No matter what I do, no matter what advice I receive, I can't get it to work. So, I am strictly a database slut.

Now that this post has re-emerged, I have another question: are you retiring from modding or will there be more mods coming in the near future?

Yep, I'm a fan! Keep up the good work. Many thanks to you and all of those intrepid modders who bring additional fun to this great game! smile.gif

  4. I would advise you to get your fill of CMBO before playing CMBB. If you are like me, once you start CMBB you'll find it difficult to return to BO. My theory is that by the time I burn out on BB CMAK will be available.

Find "The Scenario Depot" with any search engine. More scenarios than you can play in a year, and new additions posted weekly.

Welcome aboard. Check out all of the forums on CM, especially FAQs and tips.

Remember, if your wife/girlfriend leave you, you'll just have more time to play! :D

  5. This raises another question: is there a GAZ AA truck in CMBB? This truck was fitted with quad maxim machine guns, put in an AA mount and attached to the bed of the GAZ truck. This was Russia's only (I believe) AA vehicle until Lend-Lease arrived. GAZ was merely a Ford truck produced in Russia under license.

Proof of their existence lies within many photos taken from the opening stages of Barbarossa--most notably in photos around Borisov (German spelling Borrisoff) in Belarus, July,1941. You will find many of these wrecks lining the roads as German columns march or speed by. Are these in CMBB?

  6. My favorite mods have to be the Axis Minors, Italian, and Luftwaffe alternate uniforms. Quick question about the LW uni's, WHAT SCENARIO HAS THESE GUYS? I keep searching and keep getting paratroopers (who also look cool thanks to their mod pack). Any help?

The second favorite are any dirty AFV mods with flags, slogans, or stripes. I have also noticed a growing trend to place numbers and slogans on the rear turret. Smart. :D This helps avoid that "mirror effect" where the left turret has the number/slogans backwards. Maybe the modders can become more fancy with rear turret numbers?

My third top pick are the rusty/weathered winter mods.

Now that all of the "glory mods"--KT's, IS, ISU's et al., have been done, can we have some "workhorse mods"? For example: dirty SPW 251/2, Stug IIIE; whitewashed Shermans for Ivan, and some snow coverred early grey German and French AFV's. Snow coverring for 41-42 is more historic than whitewashing when pertaining to the German/Axis tanks. Gautrek has already told me that these are a bitch to do, but then again, don't we all love bitches? ;)

So, any of the above mods would immediately become my favorite mod--for now. tongue.gif

  7. Just played it--cool! I loved getting the opportunity to use all of my lend-lease mods. After bagging 4 T-34s, one Sherman, three halftracks and stuarts, one T-34 got lucky with that dreaded "Gun damaged" result. However, by then the reinforcements arrived and kicked butt. Maybe a bit easy but a good game to play while having a few beers. Perhaps substitute a few Churchills for some T-34s if it is TOO easy? Churchills last longer. Ahistorical? OF COURSE IT IS AHISTORICAL!!! WHO CARES? As is, it's a blast.

    Now, about that operation...

Good concept, cool game. Can you do the same for the op?

  8. Maybe this will come with the new engine? Hope so. I would add the ability to build pontoon bridges under fire to the list--not for battles (unless these have 60+ turns or more) but definitely for ops. I think having ops where one side is building a bridge under fire while crossing the river in boats (ah yes, better boats please) will open up more situations we can recreate. This is a MUST IMHO if and when, BFC takes on the Blitzkrieg.

Engineers breaching walls with demos would also be welcomed. I find that without this option, the city fights in CM are not as realistic as they can be. For example, if you were in Stalingrad, and had to get from one rowhouse into the next, do you think they really dashed outside into the street, then dash into the adjacent building. They could try...

  9. Moon, thanks for the reply, and my apologies for the misunderstanding.

It struck me as odd when I first read it, and that's why I added this question(isn't Madmatt and Kwazydog members of BFC? They were the original modders, right?). Now I understand the comment about modding.

So, for all of us who crave CMBO with CMBB graphics, we WILL be able to remake ANY CMBO battle or OPs?

I know you guys have limits, but then again we are your customers. We don't want much--JUST EVERYTHING, MORE OF IT, AND EVERYTHING BETTER! Not too much to ask, :D right?

I'm sure all wargaming grognards (a euphemism for grown-ups who still play with army men) such as myself will rush to buy any new CM product the very minute it is available. It's still the best thing going.

I am also looking at Battlefield Command. The screenshots are cool, BUT, is it me, or does that Russian ATG crew in one of the screenshots look like coneheads? Wearing caps instead of helmets just gave me that impression. IF I buy that game (is saying this on the BFC forum sacreligious?)it will just be because of the diversity of forces involved. Hurry up with CMAK so I can play CM Blitzkrieg, then CMPTO, then CM... ;)

  10. First off, thanks to the hard work of all of the modders out there with their great, great work. Sometimes I find modding a new tank--then using it,is more fun than the actual scenario smile.gif . Then again, maybe if I didn't SUCK at playing this game...

I wanted to get a thread going where all of us modsluts/maniacs can bat around ideas for future mods. What mods are NOT available, and what new mods do you want? I'm sure the many modders out there surf this forum often.

My wish list is growing, but let's start with with some that SHOULD be in the game, but oddly, aren't. What I need most is one for my SPW 251/2. Next comes a whitewashed Russian truck and SU85 assault guns. The latter can be used immediately in ASLvet's great new scenario--"Valhalla Bound". Those other ASL vets should remember this one from their cardboard pushing days (that's SO 20th century). :D

Now that I have ten variants of King Tigers, Panthers, and T-34's, can we have some other vehicles please?

    Where's the STUG E?

  11. Dandelion is absolutely right about Normandy and its rich, vibrant colors. The same applies further up the coast heading towards Calais. If I am not mistaken, this area gets a lot more annual rainfall than many locales in Russia. I haven't been to Russia, but I have been to almost all of the Eastern European countries. The only countries that could rival France in its landscape brightness are the Baltic States and Romania. Hungary gave me the impression of yellow and brown--probably from all of that wheat growing everywhere. Consequently, I think the BFC guys did the right thing by toning down the brightness in CMBB. It looks--and "feels" right.

I'm not a travel agent but I do recommend travelling to France and visiting the many WWII battlefields.

If I'd could, I'd buy a retirement home in the Ardennes--it's that pretty.

  12. I guess I'll just wait and see what the BFC guys do with the French before tinkering with my CMBO units. I hope that their graphics are one notch up--similar the improvements made with CMBB. I think half of the fun with anticipating CMAK is with anticipating the many mods.

What do all of you think of that quote from one of the BFC guys: "CMAK will require little--if any modding at all"?

Sometimes I mod simply because it's fun.
