  1. well, the wait continues... luckily, medieval 2 is here! to war!
  2. I AM INTERESTED!!! I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THIS GAME!!!!!! Please keep up the work on CMC!!!!!!! This is a dream come true for an old ASL fan who never could find an opponent to play with. I always knew we wargamers were few and far between. People smart enough to learn the rules hate war and people who like war are too dumb to learn the rules. But not all of us! We thrill to the battlecry only we can hear, while moving cardboard counters late at night sweating the upcoming assault on the next Soviet building, or while staring in surprise at the screen after dozens of rounds glance off the T-34's turret armor... I, for one, will buy it! I bought all the others and even the MATRIX game, and all the others before. CM is the best of the best and I want the campaign and any other WW2 folow-ons. to war!
  3. how about some news and a release date?
  4. War has been described as long periods of extreme boredom punctuated by moments of intense fury. (Paraphrasing - but does anyone know the origins of that quote?). Now, avoiding seeing tubleweeds in my dreams, I am hard at work living my daily life, paying attention to the details: life, love, work, and pleasure, fulfilling my obligations... biding my time, Because when CMC is released my entire Universe will only contain a bottle of Triconell, a cigar, and my computer...!
  5. Hi I want to express my feelings: - I love CMBB and CMAK. - I am REALLY looking forward to the campaign game! - I do not have any interest in modern combat games. I want more WW2 games: late war, early war, Pacific theater, European, African, anything WW2.
  6. as graucho put it, "i'd horsewhip you if i had a horse!" i played cmbb and cmak a while ago. i used to play asl way back. i still dont think the cm games quite capture the tactical feel of asl, but perhaps no computer game can. i do really think that a better interface is needed, where the mouse can be used to zoom in and out easily. still, there is nothing else. spwaw was great - but nothing like cm, not even close, in realism and simulation. the close combat games were great too, but again, not like cm! cm is the best computer game of tactical ww2 i have found. but what has always been missing is the campaign game, which made even much simpler games like panzer general enjoyable. there is nothing like having to live with the consequences of past battles. therefore, i have pulled my old cmbb out of the desk drawer and am practicing fighting so i can be ready for cmc. further, i drink a toast to the people putting it together and i think great thoughts while i wait ... may they thrive and prosper! may they live forever! i, for one, am definitely into it and absolutely need cmc in my life. ok, now back to trying to win approach to sevastopol!
  7. hi - thanks for the advice. here is what ive found: the laptop uses an nvidia geforce4 440 go card. it is not supported in the nvidia site, only in the dell site. the new drivers downloadable are the v.42.58, a03. these were the ones i downloaded, and made the game unplayably slow. i then downloaded the previous version, the v.28.35 a02 drivers, and now the game runs normally. thanks again for the help
  8. hi i have a 1.8 GHz DELL c840 latitude laptop with 528 K RAM and an nvidia geforce4 440 video card. i installed the game and it runs extremely slowly so it is unplayable. there is a 2-second delay for everything, cant even use the mouse to scroll. i read in the troubleshooting guide that i should install the latest drivers - which i found in the DELL site and installed. this did not fix the problem. anyone have any suggestions? thanks
  9. this is a great game and that is obvious even after only playing it for a couple of weeks against the computer. it warrants many praises. i do find 2 main things missing that i think are important and that i'd like to see in a game like this: 1. a summary order of battle available as a page accessible during the game (like in spwaw). 2. iconic top-down graphics, which allow at-a-glance information of all units in top-down view. it would be nice not to have to scroll or jump all over the map in 3-d view, when a battle's strategy is a 2-d problem (like in cc). the current 2-d top-down views show indistiguishable unit bases with hard-to-see units even at maximum unit size (which is really hokey). it would be nice to have icons so one could play this as a classic wargame, with all the wonderful combat mission internal mechanics and realism built in. what makes this game great are the mechanics, and it would be nice to toggle back and forth between 3d and a more informative 2d view. otherwise, i will keep playing because the merits of this game greatly outweigh these two limitations. 10. hi i bought cmbb (cm2) at comp-usa about 2 weeks ago. i dl patches 1.01 and 1.02. i tried to patch and/or reinstall and patch many times. no luck. i posted asking for help in the general forum. i got 2 replies (thanks, guys!) saying i had illegal european version and i had to dl european patch. how could comp-usa sell an illegal version? i trried to dl the european versions. the only site to do that is cdv and it wont let me. says, "access from unauthorised site". so now what? i cant patch up. and even if i do, what is to guarantee future patches will work with my "illegal version", which i paid legal money for and which is a game i LOVE! can someone tell me what i should do? thanks, fellow time travellers to a world of conflict and skill. lute [ February 27, 2003, 06:47 PM: Message edited by: lute ]
  11. hi i just bought cmbb2 from comp-usa a few days ago. i installed it on its default directory c:\program files\combat mission 2\ and it runs version 1.0 ok. the executable file is CombatMission2.exe. i downloaded patch 1.01. it defaults unzips into c:\program files\cmbb\. i changed the directory to c:\program files\combat mission 2\ and it unzipped. it created an executable file Barbarosa to Berlin.exe in that directory. when i run CombatMission2.exe, version 1.0 comes on normally (says version 1.0 on lower right of first window). when i double click on Barbarosa to Berlin.exe, the game begins to start but then a window comes on saying, "no cd rom detected, insert combat mission cd rom and restart the game to get full functionalitu. important: game can only function if you did a full installation." i tried reinstalling everything several times and get the same problem. the game recognizes the cd is in the drive when run as version 1.0, but not with patch 1.01. i tried installing 1.02 over 1.01 but get same problem (no cd rom detected). can anyone help, please? thanks salute, fellow time travellers [ February 25, 2003, 01:29 AM: Message edited by: lute ]
